Fatwa by: Shaykh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen (حفظه الله)
Question:
What is the ruling regarding a Muslim woman who prays, fasts, and recites the Qur'an but does not cover her head?
Answer:
Covering the head is not a condition for the recitation of the Qur'an. However, it is not permissible to pray without covering the parts of the body that must be concealed. A free and mature woman is obliged to cover her entire body during Salah except for the face; covering the face is not obligatory in Salah. However, in the presence of non-mahram men, she must cover her face. A woman is not permitted to expose her face before anyone other than her husband and mahram relatives.
And Allah knows best.
