Belief in the Hereafter

Belief in Yawm al-Aakhirah (the Day of the Hereafter) is a fundamental pillar of Islamic faith. Every true Muslim is fully aware of this reality and accepts with insight and conviction that:

◈ After this worldly life comes death.
◈ After death, the Day of Qiyamah will certainly occur.
◈ On that day, every human being will be resurrected.
◈ Every man and woman will be presented before the court of Allah ﷻ.
◈ Each individual will be held accountable for their good and bad deeds.

The Concept of Reward and Punishment

Through His divine books and chosen messengers, Allah ﷻ has shown mankind the difference between good and evil. Based on this:

◈ Those who perform righteous deeds will be hosted in Jannah and rewarded for their good actions.
◈ Those who live against Allah’s law will face Jahannam and bear the punishment of their evil deeds.

Clear Guidance from the Qur’an

The Qur’an explicitly states that Jannah and Jahannam are two final abodes Allah ﷻ has prepared as the reward or punishment for people according to their deeds.

Allah ﷻ says:

“But as for he who transgressed and preferred the worldly life — indeed, Hell will be his abode. But as for he who feared standing before his Lord and restrained himself from desires — indeed, Paradise will be his abode.”

Conclusion

These verses form the foundation of the belief in the Hereafter and constantly remind mankind of their true final destination. The certainty of accountability after death urges a believer to live a life of piety, fearing Allah’s punishment and striving for His reward.
