3 Important Hadiths Related to Salah and Worship
Hadith:
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (RA) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"When a person commits a sin, then performs ablution, prays two rak‘ahs, and seeks forgiveness from Allah, Allah Almighty forgives him."
(Abu Dawud, al-Witr, Bab fī al-Istighfār: 1521; Tirmidhi: 406 — Tirmidhi graded it ḥasan)
Virtue of Standing in Prayer:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"Whoever stands (in prayer) on Laylat al-Qadr out of faith and seeking reward, all his past sins will be forgiven."
(Bukhari, al-Īmān, Bab Qiyām Laylat al-Qadr min al-Īmān: 35; Muslim, Ṣalāt al-Musāfirīn, Bab al-Targhīb fī Qiyām Ramaḍān: 760)
Research Clarification:
It is not authentically proven from ṣaḥīḥ aḥādīth to dedicate the night of the 15th of Sha‘bān (Shab-e-Barat) specifically for voluntary night prayer or to stay awake for worship throughout the night.
Likewise, the narration concerning fasting only on the 15th of Sha‘bān is very weak.
