Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim — Hafiz Abdus Salam Bin Muhammad Bhutvi
Tafsir al-Quran al-Karim is a 4-volume Quran commentary by Hafiz Abdus Salam bin Muhammad Bhutvi, a renowned Salafi (Ahl al-Hadith) scholar and Sheikh ul-Hadith from Pakistan. Based on over 45 years of teaching and research, this tafsir follows the methodology of Tafsir bil-Ma'thur — interpreting the Quran through authentic Hadith, statements of the Companions, and the understanding of the early generations (Salaf). It is distinguished by its complete avoidance of Israeliyyat (Judeo-Christian narratives) and unverified reports. The tafsir is originally written in Urdu, translated to English by tohed.com.
(Ayah 42) ➊ { اِلَّامَنْرَّحِمَاللّٰهُ:} That is, only the one upon whom Allah has mercy will be saved, as Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: [ لَنْيُنَجِّيَأَحَدًامِّنْكُمْعَمَلُهُ،قَالُوْاوَلَاأَنْتَيَارَسُوْلَاللّٰهِ!؟ قَالَوَلَاأَنَا،إِلَّاأَنْيَّتَغَمَّدَنِيَاللّٰهُبِرَحْمَةٍ ][ بخاري، الرقاق، باب القصد والمداومۃ علی العمل : ۶۴۶۳ ] "None of you will be saved by his deeds." The companions asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Not even you?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His mercy." ➋ {اِنَّهٗهُوَالْعَزِيْزُالرَّحِيْمُ:} This is the answer to why no one will be able to help anyone else. This is because Allah alone is dominant over all; whatever decision He makes will surely be enforced. No one will have the courage to reject or change it, or to intercede without His permission. The meaning of {’’ الرَّحِيْمُ ‘‘} is that despite being dominant over all, He is extremely merciful and does not wrong anyone. If He wills, He may forgive the punishment of the guilty, reduce it, or grant someone much more reward than his deeds, but He does not punish anyone without a crime.
