سُوْرَةُ صٓ
Surah Saad (38) — Ayah 62
وَقَالُوا۟ مَا لَنَا لَا نَرَىٰ رِجَالًا كُنَّا نَعُدُّهُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَشْرَارِ ﴿62﴾

And they will say: "What is the matter with us that we see not men whom we used to count among the bad ones?"

(Ayah 62) {وَ قَالُوْا مَا لَنَا لَا نَرٰى رِجَالًا … : ’’ الْاَشْرَارِ ‘‘ ’’شَرٌّ‘‘} is the plural of {’’أَشَرُّ‘‘}, which is originally an adjective of superiority, the worst people. That is, when the people of Hell look around in the fire, they will see their chiefs, leaders, and guides, but they will not see those believers whom they used to mock in the world. At this, they will say with regret, sorrow, and astonishment, what is wrong with us that we do not see with us in Hell those believers whom we used to count among the worst people in the world?
