Surah As-Saaffaat (37) — Ayah 31

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ ۖ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ ﴿31﴾
"So now the Word of our Lord has been justified against us, that we shall certainly (have to) taste (the torment).
فَحَقَّ faḥaqqa So has been proved true
عَلَيْنَا ʿalaynā against us
قَوْلُ qawlu (the) Word
رَبِّنَآ ۖ rabbinā (of) our Lord
إِنَّا innā indeed, we
لَذَآئِقُونَ ladhāiqūna (will) certainly taste

(Ayah 31) {فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَاۤ اِنَّا لَذَآىِٕقُوْنَ :} This is the fourth answer as a result of the previous three answers, meaning We did not force you to remain in disbelief, rather, in reality, neither were you believers nor were we; just as we were criminals, so were you criminals. Therefore, the outcome was that both became deserving of punishment, and as a recompense for disbelief and polytheism, the punishment our Lord had promised: « لَاَمْلَـَٔنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ الْجِنَّةِ وَ النَّاسِ اَجْمَعِيْنَ » [ السجدۃ : ۱۳ ] (Surely I will fill Hell with jinn and humans all together), that promise was fulfilled upon us.
