أَمْ أَمِنتُم مَّن فِى ٱلسَّمَآءِ أَن يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا ۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ كَيْفَ نَذِيرِ ﴿17﴾

Or do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allâh), will not send against you a violent whirlwind? Then you shall know how (terrible) has been My Warning.

(Ayah 17) ➊ {اَمْ اَمِنْتُمْ مَّنْ فِي السَّمَآءِ اَنْ يُّرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِبًا :} As happened with the people of Lot, He said: «اِنَّاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا اِلَّاۤ اٰلَ لُوْطٍ نَجَّيْنٰهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ » [ القمر : ۳۴ ] "Indeed, We sent upon them a wind that rained stones, except for the family of Lot; We saved them before dawn."
➋ {’’ نَذِيْرِ ‘‘} is a verbal noun; originally it was {’’ نَذِيْرِيْ‘‘}, meaning "my warning." The ya was omitted and the kasrah was left on the ra, otherwise it would have been in the nominative case.

17. 1 Just as He rained down upon the people of Lut and the Companions of the Elephant, and destroyed them with a shower of stones.
