حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ، حَدَّثَنِي الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ سَيْفٍ الضَّبِّيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي مُعَانٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَعَوَّذُوا بِاللَّهِ مِنْ جُبِّ الْحَزَنِ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , وَمَا جُبُّ الْحَزَنِ ، قَالَ : " وَادٍ فِي جَهَنَّمَ تَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْهُ جَهَنَّمُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ " , قُلْنَا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , وَمَنْ يَدْخُلُهُ ، قَالَ : " الْقُرَّاءُ الْمُرَاءُونَ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ " , قَالَ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ .
´Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said:` "Seek refuge in Allah from the Pit of Sorrows." They said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is the Pit of Sorrows?" He said: "gorge in Hell from which Hell seeks Allah's refuge a Hundred times every day." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Who shall enter it?" He said: "The reciters who were showing off with their deeds."

Hadith Takhrij «سنن ابن ماجہ/المقدمة 23 (256) ( تحفة الأشراف : 14586) (ضعیف) (سند میں ’’ ابو معان ‘‘ یا ’’ ابو معاذ ‘‘ مجہول راوی ہے، اور ’’ عمار بن سیف ‘‘ ضعیف الحدیث، ابوہریرہ رضی الله عنہ سے اس کا دوسرا طریق بھی ضعیف ہے، تفصیل کے لیے دیکھیے: الضعیفة رقم: 5023، و 5152)»

(In the chain of narration, "Abu Ma'an" or "Abu Mu'adh" is a majhool (unknown) narrator,
and "Ammar bin Saif" is weak in hadith,

Mishkat al-Masabih — Hadith 275
Abu Huraira reported God’s messenger as saying, “Seek refuge in God from the pit of sorrow.” On being asked what the pit of sorrow was, he replied, “ It is a wadi in jahannam from which jahannam seeks refuge four hundred times every day.” When God’s messenger was asked who would enter it, he replied, “The Qur’an readers who are ostentatious in what they do.” Tirmidhi transmitted it, and Ibn Majah has the same, adding in it, “Among the Qur’an readers who are most hateful to God are those who visit princes.” Al-Muharibi said that he meant tyrants.

Hadith Authentication:
Its chain of narration is weak.
There are two reasons for weakness in this chain:
➊ Ammar bin Sayf al-Dhabi al-Kufi was a weak narrator.
Hafiz Ibn Hajar said:
«ضعيف الحديث عابد»
“He was weak in hadith (and) a devout worshipper.” [تقريب التهذيب : 4826]
➋ Ammar bin Sayf’s teacher, Abu Ma‘an or Abu Mu‘adh al-Basri, was unknown (majhool).
