بَابُ مَنْ قَالَ: لَا تَتَمَنَّوْا لِقَاءَ الْعَدُوِّ، وَالدُّعَاءِ عِنْدَ لُقِيِّهِمْChapter on those who said: Do not wish to meet the enemy, and supplication when meeting them
Hadith 3701

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا قَاتَلَ قَاتَلَ حِينَ يَنْشَقُّ الْفَجْرُ إِلَى طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ، ثُمَّ يُمْسِكُ عَنِ الْقِتَالِ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ، ثُمَّ يُقَاتِلُ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ "
When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) engaged in battle, he would fight from the break of dawn until sunrise, then he would pause until the sun declined, then after the decline he would resume fighting until the sun set.
