بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي فَضْلِ الْجِهَادِ، وَإِنَّ الْحَجَّ جِهَادُ كُلِّ ضَعِيفٍChapter on what is reported regarding the virtue of jihad, and that Hajj is the jihad of every weak person
Hadith 3519

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: نا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبَايَةَ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ بْنِ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ قَالَ: أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي افْتَرَضْتُ عَلَى نَفْسِيَ الْجِهَادَ، وَإِنِّي شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ عَلِيلٌ لَا قُوَّةَ لِي فِي نَفْسِي وَلَا ذَاتِ يَدِي، فَقَالَ: " هَلُمَّ إِلَى جِهَادٍ لَا شَوْكَةَ فِيهِ: الْحَجِّ "
An Ansari man said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): "I have made jihad obligatory upon myself, but I am old and weak." So the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Come to a jihad in which there are no thorns: Hajj."
