Hadith 2110

حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فِي امْرَأَةٍ تُوُفِّيَ عَنْهَا زَوْجُهَا وَلَمْ يَفْرِضْ لَهَا صَدَاقًا قَالَ: «لَهَا مِثْلُ صَدَاقِ نِسَائِهَا»
Sayyiduna Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that if a woman is married and no dowry (mahr) is fixed, and the husband passes away, then she should be given the mahr equivalent to that of women like her.
