حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: لَمَّا دَخَلَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ بِكِ عَلَى أَهْلِكِ هَوَانٌ، فَإِنْ شِئْتِ سَبَّعْتُ لَكِ وَإِلَّا فَثَلَّثْتُكِ ثُمَّ أَدُورُ»
When Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "You have no insignificance in the eyes of your family. If you wish, I can appoint seven nights for you, otherwise three nights, then I will begin the division (i.e., fairness)."
