بَابٌ: هَلْ يُوصِي الرَّجُلُ مِنْ مَالِهِ بِأَكْثَرَ مِنَ الثُّلُثِChapter: Can a man bequeath more than a third of his wealth?
Hadith 1510

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: أنا عَطَاءٌ بْنُ السَّائبِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، قَالَ: لَمْ يَكُنْ أَحَدٌ مِنَّا يَبْلُغُ فِي وَصِيَّتِهِ الثُّلُثَ حَتَّى يَنْقُصَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا لِقَوْلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الثُّلُثُ , وَالثُّلُثُ كَثِيرٌ»
Hazrat Abu Abdur Rahman (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "None of us would reach up to a third of his wealth in his will, rather he would reduce it somewhat because of the statement of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) «الثُّلُثُ وَالثُّلُثُ كَثِيرٌ»."
