Hadith 1404

سَعِيدٌ قَالَ: نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «أَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ أُعْتِقَ سَائِبَةً فَإِنَّمَا أَمْرُهُ بِيَدِهِ يُوَالِي مَنْ شَاءَ»
Ata (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "A slave who is set free as a Saibah (freed without compensation) has his affair in his own hand; he may choose the guardianship of whomever he wishes."
