بَابٌ فِي مَا رُوِيَ فِيمَنْ نَامَ قَاعِدًا وَقَائِمًا وَمُضْطَجِعًا وَمَا يَلْزَمُ مِنَ الطَّهَارَةِ فِي ذَلِكَ
Chapter on what is narrated about one who sleeps sitting, standing, or lying down, and what purification is required
Hadith 596
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ غَيْلانَ ، نا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ ، نا عَبْدُ السَّلامِ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، نا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الدَّالانِيُّ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ الرِّيَاحِيِّ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَامَ وَهُوَ سَاجِدٌ حَتَّى غَطَّ أَوْ نَفَخَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّكَ قَدْ نِمْتَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الْوُضُوءَ لا يَجِبُ إِلا عَلَى مَنْ نَامَ مُضْطَجِعًا ، فَإِنَّهُ إِذَا اضْطَجَعَ اسْتَرْخَتْ مَفَاصِلُهُ " . تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ أَبُو خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ . وَلا يَصِحُّ.
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) slept while he was in the state of prostration, to the extent that he began to snore. Then he stood up and performed prayer. I said: "O Messenger of Allah! You had slept." The Prophet (peace be upon him) replied: "Ablution is obligatory upon the one who sleeps lying down, because when he sleeps lying down, his joints become loose." In narrating this report from Abu Qatadah, Abu Khalid is alone; this narration is not reliable.
Hadith 597
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَبُو حَامِدٍ ، نا عِيسَى بْنُ مُسَاوِرٍ ، نا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، عَنْ عَطِيَّةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ الْكَلاعِيِّ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْعَيْنُ وِكَاءُ السَّهِ ، فَإِذَا نَامَتِ الْعَيْنُ اسْتَطْلَقَ الْوِكَاءُ " .
Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abu Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The eye is the restraint of the anus, so when the eye sleeps, this restraint is broken."
Hadith 598
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَامِدٍ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، نا بَقِيَّةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ.
This narration is also transmitted with another chain of transmission.
Hadith 599
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْمَطِيرِيُّ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْجَنَّابِيُّ ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، نا عُمَرُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ نَامَ جَالِسًا فَلا وُضُوءَ عَلَيْهِ ، وَمَنْ وَضَعَ جَنْبَهُ فَعَلَيْهِ الْوُضُوءُ " .
Sayyiduna Amr bin Shu'aib narrates from his father, from his grandfather: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever falls asleep while sitting, wudu is not obligatory upon him; but whoever lies down on his side (on the ground), wudu will be obligatory upon him."
Hadith 600
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَامِدٍ ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الأَقْطَعُ ، نا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، عَنِ الْوَضِينِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ مَحْفُوظِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَائِذٍ الأَزْدِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الْعَيْنُ وِكَاءُ السَّهِ ، فَمَنْ نَامَ فَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ " .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The eye is the fastener of the anus; whoever sleeps should perform ablution well."
