Sayyiduna Fadala bin Ubaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of Khaybar, a necklace was brought to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), which was overlaid with gold and also had precious stones attached to it. A man bought it for seven or perhaps nine dinars, so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, not until both of them are separated." So the man said: "Then I will take the stones." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No, return it, until both of them (i.e., the stones and the gold) are separated."
