Sayyiduna Abu Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that he reported as a marfu‘ hadith: (that is, the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said:) “Whatever Allah has declared lawful in His Book is lawful, and whatever He has declared unlawful is unlawful, and whatever He has not mentioned any ruling about is pardon. So accept the pardon granted by Allah. Allah does not forget anything.” Then he recited this verse: “And your Lord is not forgetful.”
