أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مَعْمَرٍ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ بْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ: "لَوْ رَفَقْتُ بِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، لَأَصَبْتُ مِنْهُ عِلْمًا كَثِيرًا".
Abu Salamah (bin Abdur Rahman bin Awf) said: If I had kept the company of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), I would have acquired a great deal of knowledge from him.
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Ahadith 585 to 587)
«رفق به: إذ الان جانبه و حسن صنيعه» This was because Abu Salamah was a contemporary of Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma, and there were some differences between them. Abu Salamah used to say with regret: "If only I had acquired knowledge from him."
