Hadith 355

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever treads a path in search of knowledge, Allah makes the path to Paradise easy for him through it, and whoever is slowed down by his deeds, his lineage will not speed him up."

It is understood that traveling for the acquisition of knowledge is recommended (mustahabb).
Musa (alayhis salam) traveled with Khidr (alayhis salam) to acquire knowledge.
And Jabir bin Abdullah (radi Allahu anhu) undertook a journey of one month to learn a hadith from Abdullah bin Qais (radi Allahu anhu).
The scholars of the Salaf used to travel long distances in pursuit of hadith.
If one strives to acquire Islamic knowledge (ilm shar‘i) with sincerity of intention, Allah, Lord of the worlds, makes the path to Paradise easy for him.
