باب في فَضْلِ الْعِلْمِ وَالْعَالِمِ:Chapter: The Virtue of Knowledge and the Scholar
Hadith 344
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُخْتَارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا: إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ سورة فاطر آية 28، قَالَ: "مَنْ خَشِيَ اللَّهَ فَهُوَ عَالِمٌ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): «﴿إِنَّمَا يَخْشَى اللَّهَ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ الْعُلَمَاءُ﴾» [فاطر: 28/35] Whoever fears Allah is a scholar. Two greedy people are never satisfied: the seeker of knowledge and the seeker of the world.
