Brief Explanation
(Explanation of Hadith 2736) The meaning of "wayl" is ruin and destruction; furthermore, "wayl" is also the name of a pit in Hell. Whoever fabricates false stories, tales, or jokes merely to make people laugh, there is a severe warning for him in the Hereafter. Lying is blameworthy in every situation, and the curse of Allah is upon the liar.
