It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Return the trust to the one who entrusted you, and do not betray the one who betrays you."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2632)
From this hadith, it is understood that it is obligatory to return the trust (amanah) to its owner, even if its owner acts dishonestly with you. This is an exemplary teaching and encouragement towards good character and high moral conduct. Any worker who is employed in the shop of his guarantor or owner should never act dishonestly.
Some scholars have said: If, according to the agreement, the owner does not pay the full wage, then the worker may take from the shop only the amount that is his due, and no more than that. This is as in the hadith of Sayyidah Umm Mu‘awiyah radi Allahu anha, when she said that Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan radi Allahu anhu is miserly and does not spend enough for the children, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: You may take from your husband’s wealth what is sufficient for your needs.
