It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ubada bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) disliked rewards and used to say: “A strong (powerful) Muslim should give the spoils of war to a weak Muslim.”

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2521)
The meaning of this hadith is that all Muslims are equal partners in the spoils of war (mal-e-ghanīmah), and will receive equal shares. Those who are strong and fight more will not receive anything more than the weaker ones. And the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) disliked this (i.e., giving more to some than others), although at certain times he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did bestow gifts upon specific individuals or groups.
