Hadith 2478

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Suhaib Rumi (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to supplicate during the days of the Battle of Hunayn: “«اَللّٰهُمَّ بِكَ أُحَاوِلُ . . . . . . O Allah! I strive with Your help, and I attack with Your help, and I fight with Your help alone.”

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2477)
It is recommended (mustahabb) to supplicate in this manner at the time of battle.
Apart from this, other supplications from the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam are also mentioned for such occasions, such as: «اَللّٰهُمَّ مُنْزِلَ الْكِتَابِ وَ مُجْرِيَ السَّحَابِ وَهَازِمَ الْأَحْزَابِ اِهْزِمْهُمْ وَانْصُرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ [بخاري 2966], [مسلم 1742]. Furthermore, it is established from this that a servant should continue to supplicate to the Owner of all sovereignty, Allah, Lord of the worlds, at all times; He alone is the One who grants victory and help, and only He should be called upon.
