Brief Explanation
(Explanation of Hadiths 2468 to 2470)
From both these hadiths, it is established that in every era, in every age, there will certainly remain a group that is upon the truth, steadfast upon Allah’s Shari‘ah; those who attempt to humiliate them and those who oppose them will not be able to harm them in any way, just as is mentioned in the narration of Sahih Bukhari number (3641).
By this group and congregation is meant the Jama‘at of Ahl al-Hadith, whose methodology has always been (ma ana ‘alayhi wa ashabi) — “that which I and my companions are upon.”
Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal rahimahullah said: If by this hadith «(لَايَزَالُقَوْمٌ.....)» the Ahl al-Hadith are not meant, then I do not know who else could be intended. Many other scholars have also said the same. Those who criticize and revile the Ahl al-Hadith, and those who consider it a tribulation like Qadianism, should reflect upon these hadiths and refrain from such blameworthy actions.
It should be clear that the noble Companions (Sahabah), the great Followers (Tabi‘in), the esteemed Imams, and all the other pious predecessors (aslaf) are also included within the purview of this hadith, by whose noble efforts the lamps of the Sunnah are illuminated, and in whose presence the proclamations of “Allah said” and “the Messenger said” are always raised.
