أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَمْزَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الزَّبِيدِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، يَقُولُ: قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ بِمِنًى: "أَصْلِحْ لَنَا مِنْ هَذَا اللَّحْمِ"فَأَصْلَحْتُ لَهُ مِنْهُ، فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَأْكُلُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى بَلَغْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ.
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), says: We were in Mina when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed me: "Clean and preserve this meat for us." So I complied with the order, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to eat from that same meat until his return to Madinah.
Brief Explanation

It is established from both the words and actions of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) that the meat of the sacrifice (qurbani) can be kept and eaten even after three days, because the distance from Makkah to Madinah was approximately one week.
