Hadith 1957

Zaid bin Yathi’ said: We asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him): With what message did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) send you? He replied: I was sent with four things. First, that only a believing soul will enter Paradise; second, that no one should perform Tawaf of the House of Allah naked; third, that after this year, disbelievers and Muslims will not gather together for Hajj; fourth, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and whoever has a treaty with him for a specified period, their treaty will remain for that period, and for those whose treaty has no specified period, they are given respite for four months. He says that after the Day of Sacrifice, they were given respite until the twentieth of Dhul-Hijjah, after which the command was that after four months, they should be killed.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1956)

In this hadith, there is glad tidings of Paradise for believing Muslim men and women, and a prohibition against performing tawaf (circumambulation) while naked. This is a prophecy that after that year, neither Muslims nor disbelievers would perform Hajj together, which to this day is an indication of the truthfulness and messengership of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

There was a treaty between the disbelievers of Makkah and the Muslims, but due to the intrigues and breaches of these polytheists, the duration of this treaty was not extended. After the conquest of Makkah, the disbelievers and polytheists were ordered to either leave Makkah or become Muslim. Thus, almost all the people of Makkah became Muslim.
