Hadith 1908

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Staying at Muhassab is not part of Hajj; it is just a place where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stayed. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Tahseeb is the name of a place in Makkah which is in the valley of Batha.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1907)

Sayyiduna Abu Bakr and Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhuma) used to camp at this place. Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) and some other Companions said that staying and halting there is not necessary, and it is neither among the rites (sha‘a’ir) of Hajj nor among its pillars or obligations (arkan wa wajibat). Rather, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) only descended and stayed there.
