Hadith 1865

Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Our caravan was traveling in the state of Ihram, and I (Abu Qatadah, may Allah be pleased with him) was not in Ihram, when suddenly I saw a wild donkey. I mounted my horse and hunted it. My companions ate its meat while they were in the state of Ihram, and I did not eat. When they reached the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they asked him (about this matter). The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired: "Did you signal to it? Did you hunt it?" or he said, "Did you kill it?" They replied: No. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then eat it."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1864)

From this it is understood that for a person in the state of ihram (muhrim), even pointing towards game (hunted animal) is prohibited, and in such a situation, they also cannot eat the meat of that game.
