حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ، عَنْ الضَّحَّاكِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَرْبُوعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَيُّ الْحَجِّ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: "الْعَجُّ وَالثَّجُّ" . الْعَجُّ يَعْنِي: التَّلْبِيَةَ، وَالثَّجُّ يَعْنِي: إِهْرَاقَ الدَّمِ.
Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: Which Hajj is the best? (i.e., which act in Hajj is the best?), He said: “«عج» and «ثج».” «عج» refers to the Talbiyah and «ثج» refers to the sacrifice.

That is, among the acts of Hajj, proclaiming the Talbiyah aloud and performing the sacrifice (qurbani) in abundance are superior. Therefore, both of these actions should be carried out with full eagerness, sincerity, and utmost attention.
