Hadith 1789

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. I inquired about it, so he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Deeds are presented (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays." (That is, on Monday and Thursday.)

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1788)

It is understood that fasting on Mondays and Thursdays is Sunnah. Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd radi Allahu anhu was the servant of the Seal of the Messengers. Even in his old age, he did not consent to abandon this Sunnah (radi Allahu anhu wa ardah).
