Hadith 1588
- " إذا رأى أحدكم من أخيه ومن نفسه ومن ماله ما يعجبه فليبركه، فإن العين حق ".
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Amir bin Rabi’ah and Sahl bin Hunaif both went out with the intention of bathing and were looking for a place to conceal themselves. According to Amir—and the narration of Mustadrak, which is more correct—Sahl took off his woolen cloak. When I saw him, the evil eye from me affected him. He entered the water to bathe, and I heard the sound of his murmuring in the water. I came to him and called him three times, but he did not respond. I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him of the whole matter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came and entered the water; it is as if I can still see the whiteness of his shins. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) struck his chest three times and then supplicated: “O Allah, remove his heat, cold, illness, and weakness.” Then he stood up and said: “When anyone sees something of his brother or his property that pleases him, let him pray for blessing for him, for the evil eye is indeed real.”
