جماع أبواب صلاة الاستسقاء وما فيها من السننChapters on Rain Prayer and its Sunnahs
(668) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا حَوَّلَ رِدَاءَهُ، فَجَعَلَ الْأَيْمَنَ عَلَى الْأَيْسَرِ، وَالْأَيْسَرَ عَلَى الْأَيْمَنِ؛ لِأَنَّ الرِّدَاءَ ثَقُلَ عَلَيْهِ، فَاشْتَدَّ عَلَيْهِ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ أَعْلَاهُ أَسْفَلَهُ
668| Evidence that the Prophet (ﷺ) only turned his cloak, putting the right on the left and vice versa, because it was heavy and hard to invert
Hadith 1415
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ غَزِيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : " اسْتَسْقَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ خَمِيصَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ ، فَأَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَهَا بِأَسْفَلِهَا فَيَجْعَلَهَا أَعْلاهُ ، فَلَمَّا ثَقُلَتْ عَلَيْهِ قَلَبَهَا عَلَى عَاتِقَيْهِ " . قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حَمْزَةَ : عَلَى عَاتِقِهِ
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa), he was wearing a black-striped cloak. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to lift it from the lower part and bring it upwards, but when it became heavy upon him (and he could not move it up and down as intended), he simply turned it over his shoulders.
