(140) بَابُ صَدَقَةِ الْمُقِلِّ إِذَا أَبْقَى لِنَفْسِهِ قَدْرَ حَاجَتِهِ.140 Subchapter: Charity of the poor if he keeps enough for his needs
Hadith 2443
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَبَقَ دِرْهَمٌ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ " ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، كَيْفَ يَسْبِقُ دِرْهَمٌ مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ ؟ قَالَ : " رَجُلٌ كَانَ لَهُ دِرْهَمَانِ ، فَأَخَذَ أَحَدَهُمَا فَتَصَدَّقَ بِهِ ، وَآخَرُ لَهُ مَالٌ كَثِيرٌ ، فَأَخَذَ مِنْ عَرَضِهَا مِائَةَ أَلْفٍ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "One dirham surpassed one hundred thousand dirhams." The noble companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), how did one dirham surpass one hundred thousand dirhams?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "A person had only two dirhams, so he gave one dirham in charity. Whereas another person had abundant wealth, and he gave one hundred thousand dirhams in charity from it."
