Hadith 1580
نا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُطِيلُ فِي أَوَّلِ رَكْعَةٍ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ وَالظُّهْرِ ، فَكُنَّا نَرَى أَنَّهُ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ لِيَتَأَدَّى النَّاسُ "
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to prolong the first rak'ah of the Fajr and Dhuhr prayers. We used to think that he did this so that people could join (the prayer).
