Hadith 4886

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، قَالَ : " بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ ، فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ آخُذَ مِنَ الْبَقَرِ مِنْ كُلِّ أَرْبَعِينَ مُسِنَّةً ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ ثَلاثِينَ تَبِيعًا أَوْ تَبِيعَةً ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ حَالِمٍ دِينَارًا أَوْ عِدْلَهُ مَعَافِرَ " .
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me to Yemen and instructed me that I should collect one "Musinnah" from every forty cattle and one "Tabi'" from every thirty, and from every adult person, one dinar or an equivalent weight of "Mu'aafir" (a specific type) perfume.
