Hadith 2191
وحَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ إِذَا عَادَ مَرِيضًا ، يَقُولُ : " أَذْهِبْ الْبَاسَ رَبَّ النَّاسِ اشْفِهِ أَنْتَ الشَّافِي ، لَا شِفَاءَ إِلَّا شِفَاؤُكَ شِفَاءً لَا يُغَادِرُ سَقَمًا " .
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) visited the sick he would say: Lord of the people, remove the disease, cure him, for Thou art the great Curer, there is no cure but through Thine healing Power, which leaves nothing of the disease.
Hadith 2240
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ . ح وحدثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَكَرِيَّاءَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ إِلَّا جَرِيرًا وَحْدَهُ ، فَإِنَّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ " مَنْ قَتَلَ وَزَغًا فِي أَوَّلِ ضَرْبَةٍ كُتِبَتْ لَهُ مِائَةُ حَسَنَةٍ وَفِي الثَّانِيَةِ دُونَ ذَلِكَ وَفِي الثَّالِثَةِ دُونَ ذَلِكَ " .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) through another chain of transmitters (and the words are): - He who killed a gecko with the first stroke for him are ordained one hundred virtues, and with the second one less than that and with the third one less than that.
Hadith 2301
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ مَعْدَانَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَدِيثَ الْحَوْضِ ، فَقُلْتُ لِيَحْيَي بْنِ حَمَّادٍ : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ سَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ ، فَقَالَ : وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَيْضًا مِنْ شُعْبَةَ ، فَقُلْتُ : انْظُرْ لِي فِيهِ ، فَنَظَرَ لِي فِيهِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِهِ .
This is the hadith that I heard from Abu 'Awana and he said: I also heard it from Shu'bah. I said: Narrate that to me and he narrated that to me.
Hadith 2303
وحَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُمَا شَكَّا ، فَقَالَا : أَوْ مِثْلَ مَا بَيْنَ الْمَدِينَةِ وَعَمَّانَ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ : مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْ حَوْضِي .
Anas reported this hadith with this change that there was some doubt between (places mentioned) and there is a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2361
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، وَتَقَارَبَا فِي اللَّفْظِ ، وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " مَرَرْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِقَوْمٍ عَلَى رُءُوسِ النَّخْلِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا يَصْنَعُ هَؤُلَاءِ ؟ فَقَالُوا يُلَقِّحُونَهُ ، يَجْعَلُونَ الذَّكَرَ فِي الْأُنْثَى ، فَيَلْقَحُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا أَظُنُّ يُغْنِي ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : فَأُخْبِرُوا بِذَلِكَ ، فَتَرَكُوهُ ، فَأُخْبِرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنْ كَانَ يَنْفَعُهُمْ ذَلِكَ ، فَلْيَصْنَعُوهُ ، فَإِنِّي إِنَّمَا ظَنَنْتُ ظَنًّا ، فَلَا تُؤَاخِذُونِي بِالظَّنِّ ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ عَنِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا ، فَخُذُوا بِهِ ، فَإِنِّي لَنْ أَكْذِبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلّ " .
Musa bin Talha reported: I and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) happened to pass by people near the date-palm trees. He (the Holy Prophet) said: What are these people doing? They said: They are grafting, i.e, they combine the male with the female (tree) and thus they yield more fruit. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I do not find it to be of any use. The people were informed about it and they abandoned this practice. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was later on informed that the yield had dwindled, whereupon he said: If there is any use of it, then they should do it, for it was just a personal opinion of mine, and do not go after my personal opinion; but when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah, then do accept it, for I do not attribute lie to Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.
Hadith 2367
حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صِيَاحُ الْمَوْلُودِ حِينَ يَقَعُ نَزْغَةٌ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The crying of the child (starts) when the satan begins to prick him.
Hadith 2450
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كُنَّ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَهُ ، لَمْ يُغَادِرْ مِنْهُنَّ وَاحِدَةً ، فَأَقْبَلَتْ فَاطِمَةُ تَمْشِي مَا تُخْطِئُ مِشْيَتُهَا مِنْ مِشْيَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا ، فَلَمَّا رَآهَا رَحَّبَ بِهَا ، فَقَالَ : مَرْحَبًا بِابْنَتِي ، ثُمَّ أَجْلَسَهَا عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، أَوْ عَنْ شِمَالِهِ ، ثُمَّ سَارَّهَا ، فَبَكَتْ بُكَاءً شَدِيدًا ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى جَزَعَهَا سَارَّهَا الثَّانِيَةَ فَضَحِكَتْ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : خَصَّكِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَيْنِ نِسَائِهِ بِالسِّرَارِ ، ثُمَّ أَنْتِ تَبْكِينَ ، فَلَمَّا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سَأَلْتُهَا : مَا قَالَ لَكِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَتْ : مَا كُنْتُ أُفْشِي عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سِرَّهُ ، قَالَتْ : فَلَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قُلْتُ : عَزَمْتُ عَلَيْكِ بِمَا لِي عَلَيْكِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ لَمَا حَدَّثْتِنِي ، مَا قَالَ لَكِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ : أَمَّا الْآنَ فَنَعَمْ أَمَّا حِينَ سَارَّنِي فِي الْمَرَّةِ الْأُولَى فَأَخْبَرَنِي ، أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ كَانَ يُعَارِضُهُ الْقُرْآنَ فِي كُلِّ سَنَةٍ مَرَّةً ، أَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَإِنَّهُ عَارَضَهُ الْآنَ مَرَّتَيْنِ ، وَإِنِّي لَا أُرَى الْأَجَلَ إِلَّا قَدِ اقْتَرَبَ ، فَاتَّقِي اللَّهَ وَاصْبِرِي ، فَإِنَّهُ نِعْمَ السَّلَفُ أَنَا لَكِ ، قَالَتْ : فَبَكَيْتُ بُكَائِي الَّذِي رَأَيْتِ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى جَزَعِي سَارَّنِي الثَّانِيَةَ ، فَقَالَ يَا فَاطِمَةُ : أَمَا تَرْضَيْ أَنْ تَكُونِي سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، أَوْ سَيِّدَةَ نِسَاءِ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ ، قَالَتْ : فَضَحِكْتُ ضَحِكِي الَّذِي رَأَيْتِ " .
'A'isha reported: We, the wives of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , were with him (during his last illness) and none was absent therefrom that Fatima, who walked after the style of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , came there, and when he saw her he welcomed her saying: You are welcome, my daughter. He their made her sit on his right side or on his left side. Then he said something secretly to her and she wept bitterly and when he found her (plunged) in grief he said to her something secretly for the second time and she laughed. I ('A'isha) said to her: Allah's Messenger has singled you amongst the women (of the family) for talking (to you something secretly) and you wept. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) recovered from illness, I said to her. What did Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say to you? Thereupon she said: I am not going to disclose the secret of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) died, I said to her: I adjure you by the right that I have upon you that you should narrate to me what Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to you. She said: Yes, now I can do that (so listen to it). When he talked to me secretly for the first time he informed me that Gabirel was in the habit of reciting the Qur'an along with him once or twice every year, but this year it had been twice and so he perceived his death quite near, so fear Allah and be patient (and he told me) that he would be a befitting forerunner for me and so I wept as you saw me. And when he saw me in grief he talked to me secretly for the second time and said: Fatima, are you not pleased that you should be at the head of the believing women or the head of this Umma? I laughed and it was that laughter which you saw.
Hadith 2523
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، فَقَالَ لِي : " إِنَّ أَوَّلَ صَدَقَةٍ بَيَّضَتْ وَجْهَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَوُجُوهَ أَصْحَابِهِ صَدَقَةُ طَيِّئٍ جِئْتَ بِهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
'Adi bin Hatim reported: I came to Umar bin Khattab and he said to me: The first consignment of Sadaqa brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) which brightened the face of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and the faces of his Companions was that of Tayyi.
Hadith 2534
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَلَا أَدْرِي مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) through another chain of transmitters (but with this variation) that Abu Hurairah (RA) said: I do not know whether he (the Holy Prophet) said (these words:" Then next") twice or thrice.
Hadith 2535
وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْأُمَوِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ : خَيْرُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ الْقَرْنُ الَّذِينَ بُعِثْتُ فِيهِمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ، زَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ ، قَالَ : وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ أَذَكَرَ الثَّالِثَ أَمْ لَا بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ زَهْدَمٍ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ وَيَحْلِفُونَ وَلَا يُسْتَحْلَفُونَ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Imran bin Husain through another chain of transmitters (and the words are): The best generation of this Umma is the generation to which I have been sent, then the next one, and there is an addition in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu 'Awana (and the words are): And Allah knows best whether he made a mention of the third (generation) or not; the rest of the hadith is the same as transmitted by Zahdam on the authority of 'Imran. And in the hadith transmitted by Hisham on the authority of Qatada there is an addition of these words: They take an oath whereas they are not asked to take.
Hadith 2538
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ تَبْلُغُ مِائَةَ سَنَةٍ " ، فَقَالَ سَالِمٌ : تَذَاكَرْنَا ذَلِكَ عِنْدَهُ ، إِنَّمَا هِيَ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ مَخْلُوقَةٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: None amongst the created beings (from my Companions) would survive after one hundred years. Salim said: We made a mention of it to him (Jabir), whereupon he said: It means those who had been living on that day.
Hadith 2551
حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : رَغِمَ أَنْفُ ، ثُمَّ رَغِمَ أَنْفُ ، ثُمَّ رَغِمَ أَنْفُ ، قِيلَ : مَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَدْرَكَ أَبَوَيْهِ عِنْدَ الْكِبَرِ أَحَدَهُمَا أَوْ كِلَيْهِمَا فَلَمْ يَدْخُلِ الْجَنَّةَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Let him be humbled into dust; let him be humbled into dust. It was said: Allah's Messenger, who is he? He said: He who sees either of his parents during their old age or he sees both of them, but he does not enter Paradise.
Hadith 2612
حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا قَاتَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَتَّقِ الْوَجْهَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: When any one of you fights with his brother, he should spare his face.
Hadith 2633
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : جَاءَتِ امْرَأَةٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ذَهَبَ الرِّجَالُ بِحَدِيثِكَ ، فَاجْعَلْ لَنَا مِنْ نَفْسِكَ يَوْمًا نَأْتِيكَ فِيهِ تُعَلِّمُنَا مِمَّا عَلَّمَكَ اللَّهُ ، قَالَ : اجْتَمِعْنَ يَوْمَ كَذَا وَكَذَا ، فَاجْتَمَعْنَ فَأَتَاهُنَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَعَلَّمَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْكُنَّ مِنَ امْرَأَةٍ تُقَدِّمُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهَا مِنْ وَلَدِهَا ثَلَاثَةً إِلَّا كَانُوا لَهَا حِجَابًا مِنَ النَّارِ " ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَةٌ : وَاثْنَيْنِ ، وَاثْنَيْنِ ، وَاثْنَيْنِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَاثْنَيْنِ ، وَاثْنَيْنِ ، وَاثْنَيْنِ .
Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that a woman came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: Allah's Messenger, men receive your instructions; kindly allocate at your convenience a day for us also, on which we would come to you and you would teach us what Allah has taught you. He said: You assemble on such and such a day. They assembled and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to them and taught them what Allah had taught him and he then said: No woman amongst you who sends her three children as her forerunners (in the Hereafter) but they would serve him as a protection against Hell-Fire. A woman said: What about two and two and two? Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Even if they are two and two and two.
Hadith 2660
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ أَطْفَالِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ؟ قَالَ : اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ إِذْ خَلَقَهُمْ " .
Ibn Abbas (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked about the children of the polytheists, whereupon he said: It is Allah alone Who knows what they would be doing according to their creation.
Hadith 1017
حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ الْأُمَوِيُّ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَوْنِ بْنِ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، عَنْ الْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ جَرِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
Jarir transmitted this hadith from his father through another chain of narrators.
Hadith 2757
وحَدَّثَنَاه يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ذَكَرُوا جَمِيعًا بِإِسْنَادِ شُعْبَةَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِهِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ شَيْبَانَ ، وَأَبِي عَوَانَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ النَّاسِ رَغَسَهُ اللَّهُ مَالًا وَوَلَدًا ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ التَّيْمِيِّ ، فَإِنَّهُ لَمْ يَبْتَئِرْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا ، قَالَ : فَسَّرَهَا قَتَادَةُ لَمْ يَدَّخِرْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ شَيْبَانَ ، فَإِنَّهُ وَاللَّهِ مَا ابْتَأَرَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ خَيْرًا وَفِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي عَوَانَةَ ، مَا امْتَأَرَ بِالْمِيمِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Shu'bah with the chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording and Qatada explained the word "lam yasiru" as: "I find no good in store for me in the eye of Allah."
Hadith 2819
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى حَتَّى انْتَفَخَتْ قَدَمَاهُ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : " أَتَكَلَّفُ هَذَا وَقَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : أَفَلَا أَكُونُ عَبْدًا شَكُورًا " .
Mughira bin Shu'bah reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) worshipped so much that his feet were swollen. It was said to him: (Why do you undergo so much hardship despite the fact that Allah has pardoned for you your earlier and later sins? Thereupon he said: May I not (prove myself) to be a grateful servant (of Allah)?
Hadith 2919
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَتَفْتَحَنَّ عِصَابَةٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ أَوْ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَنْزَ آلِ كِسْرَى الَّذِي فِي الْأَبْيَضِ " ، قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ : مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ ،
Jabir bin ahadeeth reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) (as saying): There would lie open for a group of Muslims, or for a group of believers, the treasures of the family of Kisra which would be in the white (palace). In a version of Qutaiba there is definitely the word "Muslim".
Hadith 2923
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ سِمَاكٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ السَّاعَةِ كَذَّابِينَ " ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : آنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ،
Jabir bin ahadeeth reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Before the Last Hour there would be many liars, and there is an addition in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Abu Ahwas of these words: "I said to him: Did you hear it from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ? He said: Yes."
Hadith 3029
وحَدَّثَنِي وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، " أَنَّ جَارِيَةً لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ ابْنِ سَلُولَ يُقَالُ لَهَا مُسَيْكَةُ ، وَأُخْرَى يُقَالُ لَهَا أُمَيْمَةُ ، فَكَانَ يُكْرِهُهُمَا عَلَى الزِّنَا ، فَشَكَتَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلا تُكْرِهُوا فَتَيَاتِكُمْ عَلَى الْبِغَاءِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ غَفُورٌ رَحِيمٌ سورة النور آية 33 " .
Jabir reported that 'Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul had two slave-girls; one was called Musaika and the other one was called Umaima and he compelled them to prostitution (for which 'Abdullah bin Ubayy bin Salul compelled them). They made a complaint about this to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and it was upon this that this verse was revealed: "And compel not your slave-girls to prostitute" up to the words: "Allah is Forgiving, Merciful."
