Sunan an-Nasa'i
Hadith 57
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ ، ثُمَّ يَتَوَضَّأُ مِنْهُ " . قَالَ عَوْفٌ : وَقَالَ خِلَاسٌ : عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "None of you should urinate into still water and then perform Wudu' with it."
Hadith 58
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَتِيقٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قال : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ " . قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : كَانَ يَعْقُوبُ لَا يُحَدِّثُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ إِلَّا بِدِينَارٍ .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'None of you should urinate in still water and perform Ghusl with it.'" Abu 'Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa'i) said: "ya'qub would not narrate this Hadith except for a Dinar."[1] [1] Ya'qub bin Ibrahim Ad-Dawrqi, and the meaning is that he held the view that it is permissible to accept a payment for narrating, contrary to many others.
Hadith 69
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قال : أَتَانَا مُنَادِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ " .
´It was narrated that Anas said:` "An announcer came to us from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: 'Allah and His Messenger forbid you from (eating) the flesh of domestic donkeys, for it is filth.'"
Hadith 82
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْبَصْرِيُّ ، عَنْ بِشْرِ بْنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرٍ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، وَعَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ ، حَتَّى رَدَّهُ إِلَى الْمُغِيرَةِ ، قال ابْنُ عَوْنٍ : وَلَا أَحْفَظُ حَدِيثَ ذَا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ذَا ، أَنَّ الْمُغِيرَةَ ، قال : كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَقَرَعَ ظَهْرِي بِعَصًا كَانَتْ مَعَهُ فَعَدَلَ وَعَدَلْتُ مَعَهُ حَتَّى أَتَى كَذَا وَكَذَا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فَأَنَاخَ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ ، قَالَ : فَذَهَبَ حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنِّي ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ ؟ وَمَعِي سَطِيحَةٌ لِي ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا فَأَفْرَغْتُ عَلَيْهِ ، فَغَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ وَذَهَبَ لِيَغْسِلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ ضَيِّقَةُ الْكُمَّيْنِ فَأَخْرَجَ يَدَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْجُبَّةِ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَذِرَاعَيْهِ وَذَكَرَ مِنْ نَاصِيَتِهِ شَيْئًا وَعِمَامَتِهِ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ : لَا أَحْفَظُ كَمَا أُرِيدُ ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : حَاجَتَكَ ؟ قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، لَيْسَتْ لِي حَاجَةٌ ، فَجِئْنَا وَقَدْ أَمَّ النَّاسَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ وَقَدْ صَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ، فَذَهَبْتُ لِأُوذِنَهُ فَنَهَانِي ، فَصَلَّيْنَا مَا أَدْرَكْنَا وَقَضَيْنَا مَا سُبِقْنَا " .
´Al-Mughirah said:` "We were with the Prophet (ﷺ) on a journey, and he tapped me on the back with a stick he had with him, then he turned off (route) and I turned off with him until he came to such and such an area. Then he made his camel stop and went away until he disappeared from me, then he came back and said: 'Do you have water with you?' I had a water skin with me, so I brought it out and poured it for him. He washed his hands and face and began to wash his arms, but he was wearing a Syrian Jubbah[1] that had narrow sleeves, so he brought his arms out from beneath the Jubbah and washed his hands and arms, and wiped his forelock a little and his turban a little." - Ibn 'Awn said: "I cannot remember it well - then he wiped over his Khuffs." Then he said: 'What do you need?' I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I do not need anything.' Then we came and 'Abdur-Rahman bin 'Awf was leading the people in Salah, and he had led them in one Rak'ah of the Subh (Fajr) prayer. I wanted to tell him that the Prophet (ﷺ) had arrived but he did not let me, so we prayed what we had caught up with and made up what we had missed.'" [1] It is a type of cloak.
Hadith 109
أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ وَهْبٍ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، قال : سَمِعْتُ الْمُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : " خَصْلَتَانِ لَا أَسْأَلُ عَنْهُمَا أَحَدًا بَعْدَ مَا شَهِدْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَهُ فِي سَفَرٍ فَبَرَزَ لِحَاجَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ بِنَاصِيَتِهِ وَجَانِبَيْ عِمَامَتِهِ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ ، قَالَ : وَصَلَاةُ الْإِمَامِ خَلْفَ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ رَعِيَّتِهِ ، فَشَهِدْتُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَحَضَرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَاحْتَبَسَ عَلَيْهِمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَقَامُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَقَدَّمُوا ابْنَ عَوْفٍ ، فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَصَلَّى خَلْفَ ابْنِ عَوْفٍ مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ ابْنُ عَوْفٍ ، قَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَضَى مَا سُبِقَ بِهِ " .
´Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah said:` "There are two things which I never asked anyone about after I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He was with us on a journey and he went away to relieve himself, then he came and performed Wudu', and he wiped over his forehead and two sides of his 'Imamah, and he wiped over his Khuffs." He said: "And (the other issue) the Imam's Salah behind one of his followers. I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he was on a journey and time for prayer came. The Prophet (ﷺ) could not join them, so they called the Iqamah and they asked Ibn 'Awf to lead them in prayer. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and offered the remainder of the prayer behinf Ibn 'Awf, then when Ibn 'Awf said the Salah, the Prophet (ﷺ) stood up and completed what he had missed (of the prayer)."
Hadith 192
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الْجَوْزَجَانِيُّ ، قال : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا قَعَدَ بَيْنَ شُعَبِهَا الْأَرْبَعِ ثُمَّ اجْتَهَدَ ، فَقَدْ وَجَبَ الْغُسْلُ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : هَذَا خَطَأٌ ، وَالصَّوَابُ أَشْعَثُ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَقَدْ رَوَى الْحَدِيثَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ وَغَيْرُهُ ، كَمَا رَوَاهُ خَالِدٌ .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` "When (a man) sits between the four parts of his wife's body and exerts himself, then Ghusl becomes obligatory." Abu 'Abdur-Rahman said: "This is a mistake what is correct is; 'Ash'ath from Al-Hasan, from Abu Hurairah.' An-Nadr bin Shumail, and others, reported the Hadith from Shu'bah just as Khalid reported it."
Hadith 340
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا وَلَغَ الْكَلْبُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ ، فَلْيَغْسِلْهُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ أُولَاهُنَّ بِالتُّرَابِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` "If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him wash it seven times, the first time with dust."
Hadith 368
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قال : قالت أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ : " كُنَّا لَا نَعُدُّ الصُّفْرَةَ وَالْكُدْرَةَ شَيْئًا " .
´It was narrated that Muhammad said:` "Umm 'Atiyah said: 'We used not to regard yellowish and brownish discharge as anything important.'"
Hadith 400
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قال : " لَا يَبُولَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الْمَاءِ الدَّائِمِ الَّذِي لَا يَجْرِي ، ثُمَّ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ " . قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : قَالُوا لِهِشَامٍ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حَسَّانَ : إِنَّ أَيُّوبَ إِنَّمَا يَنْتَهِي بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ أَيُّوبَ لَوِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ لَا يَرْفَعَ حَدِيثًا لَمْ يَرْفَعْهُ .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "None of you should urinate into standing water which does not flow and then perform Ghusl with it." (One of the narrators) Sufyan said: "They said to Hisham - meaning Ibn Hassan - 'Ayyub only attributed this Hadith to Abu Hurairah?' So he said: 'If Ayyub is not able to raise up a narration then he does not raise it.'" [1] [1] That is, he narrated it from Abu Hurairah, rather than from him from the Prophet (ﷺ) while others narrated it in Marfu' form or "raised" to the Prophet (ﷺ) And perhaps by: "If he is able to not raise it" he means: "If he is not able to raise it." And Allah knows best.
Hadith 891
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ . ح وأَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ مُخْتَصِرًا " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that:` The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade praying with one's hands on one's waist.
Hadith 966
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا قُرَّةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قال : " سَجَدَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ . وَمَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُمَا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "Abu Bakr and Umar prostrated during: 'When the heaven is split asunder,' as did the one who was better than them (the Prophet (ﷺ)). "
Hadith 967
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، عَنْ قُرَّةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قال : " سَجَدَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا وَمَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُمَا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ وَاقْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both, and the one who was better than them prostrated during 'When the heaven is split asunder' and 'Read! In the name of your Lord.'"
Hadith 1041
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قال : " نَهَانِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْقَسِّيِّ وَالْحَرِيرِ وَخَاتَمِ الذَّهَبِ وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ وَأَنَا رَاكِعٌ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى : وَأَنْ أَقْرَأَ رَاكِعًا " .
´It was narrated that 'Ali said:` "The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade me from wearing A-Qassi and silk, and gold rings, and from reciting Qur'an when bowing."
Hadith 1072
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ سُئِلَ " هَلْ قَنَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ قَالَ : نَعَمْ فَقِيلَ لَهُ قَبْلَ الرُّكُوعِ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ قَالَ : بَعْدَ الرُّكُوعِ " .
´It was narrated that Anas bin Malik was asked:` "Did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say the Qunut in Subh prayer?" He said: "Yes." He was asked: "Was that before bowing or after?" He said: "After bowing."
Hadith 1073
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنِي بَعْضُ مَنْ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةَ الصُّبْحِ فَلَمَّا قَالَ : " سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فِي الرَّكْعَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ قَامَ هُنَيْهَةً " .
´It was narrated that Ibn Sirin said:` "Some of those who prayed the Subh prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) narrated to me that when he said: Sami'Allahu liman hamidah (Allah hears those who praise Him)' in the second rak'ah, he stood for a while."
Hadith 1211
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " التَّسْبِيحُ لِلرِّجَالِ وَالتَّصْفِيقُ لِلنِّسَاءِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that:` The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "The tasbih is for men and clapping is for women."
Hadith 1225
أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زُرَيْعٍ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : صَلَّى بِنَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِحْدَى صَلَاتَيِ الْعَشِيِّ , قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَلَكِنِّي نَسِيتُ , قَالَ : فَصَلَّى بِنَا رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ مَعْرُوضَةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ , فَقَالَ : بِيَدِهِ عَلَيْهَا كَأَنَّهُ غَضْبَانُ وَخَرَجَتِ السَّرَعَانُ مِنْ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ , فَقَالُوا : قُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا , فَهَابَاهُ أَنْ يُكَلِّمَاهُ وَفِي الْقَوْمِ رَجُلٌ فِي يَدَيْهِ طُولٌ , قَالَ : كَانَ يُسَمَّى ذَا الْيَدَيْنِ , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَنَسِيتَ أَمْ قُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ , قَالَ : " لَمْ أَنْسَ وَلَمْ تُقْصَرِ الصَّلَاةُ " , قَالَ : وَقَالَ : " أَكَمَا قَالَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ " , قَالُوا : نَعَمْ , " فَجَاءَ فَصَلَّى الَّذِي كَانَ تَرَكَهُ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ وَكَبَّرَ ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ " .
´It was narrated that Muhammad bin Sirin said:` "Abu Hurairah said: 'The Prophet (ﷺ) led us in one of the nighttime prayers.'" He said: "Abu Hurairah said: 'But I forgot (which one).' He said: 'He led us in praying two rak'ahs, then he said the taslim and went to a piece of wood that was lying in the masjid and leaned his hand on it as if he was angry. Those who were in a hurry left the masjid, and said: "The prayer has been shortened." Among the people were Abu Bakr and 'Umar but they hesitated to ask him for they revere him. Also among the people was a man with long hands who was known as Dhul-Yadain. He said: O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), did you forget or has the prayer been shortened? He said: I did not forget and the prayer has not been shortened. He said: Is it as Dhul-Yadain says? They said: yes. So he came and prayed what he had missed, then he said the salam, then he said the takbir and prostrated as usual or longer than that. Then he raised his head and said the takbir, and prostrated as usual or longer than that. Then he raised his head and said the takbir.'"
Hadith 1226
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , انْصَرَفَ مِنَ اثْنَتَيْنِ , فَقَالَ لَهُ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ : أَقُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ أَمْ نَسِيتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَصَدَقَ ذُو الْيَدَيْنِ " , فَقَالَ النَّاسُ : نَعَمْ , فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , " فَصَلَّى اثْنَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ كَبَّرَ فَسَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ مِثْلَ سُجُودِهِ أَوْ أَطْوَلَ ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that :` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished praying two rak'ahs,and Dhul-Yadain said to him: "Has the prayer been shortened or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Is Dhul-Yadain speaking the truth?" The people said: "Yes." So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up and prayed two, then he said the takbir and prostrated as usual or longer than that. Then he raised his head, then he prostrated as usual or longer than that, then he sat up."
Hadith 1235
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
´Narrated from Abu Hurairah:` A similar report was narrated from Abu Hurairah from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).
Hadith 1236
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : وَحَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَوْنٍ وَخَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَجَدَ فِي وَهْمِهِ بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that :` The Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated after the salam when he was not sure.
Hadith 1237
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَشْعَثُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ ابْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَّى بِهِمْ فَسَهَا فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ " .
´It was narrated from Imran bin Husain that:` The Prophet (ﷺ) led them in prayer and forgot (how many rak'ahs he had prayed), then he prostrated twice, then he said the salam.
Hadith 1287
أَخْبَرَنَا زِيَادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَجِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْكَ وَنُسَلِّمَ , أَمَّا السَّلَامُ فَقَدْ عَرَفْنَاهُ , فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ , قَالَ : " قُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Mas'ud Al-Ansari said:` "It was said to the Prophet (ﷺ): We have been commanded to send salah and salams upon you. We know how to send salams, but how should we send salah?' He said: Say: 'Alahumma salli 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala ali Muhammad, kama sallaita 'ala Ibrahima wa barik 'ala Muhammad kama barakta 'ala ali Ibrahim fil-'alamin, innaka hamidun majid (O Allah, send salah upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent salah upon the family of Ibrahim).'"
Hadith 1351
أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ حِزَامٍ التِّرْمِذِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ ابْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : أُمِرُوا أَنْ يُسَبِّحُوا دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , وَيَحْمَدُوا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , وَيُكَبِّرُوا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , فَأُتِيَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي مَنَامِهِ , فَقِيلَ لَهُ : أَمَرَكُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُسَبِّحُوا دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , وَتَحْمَدُوا ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , وَتُكَبِّرُوا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ , قَالَ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : فَاجْعَلُوهَا خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ , وَاجْعَلُوا فِيهَا التَّهْلِيلَ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ , فَقَالَ : " اجْعَلُوهَا كَذَلِكَ " .
´It was narrated that Zaid bin Thabit said:` "They were commanded to say the tasbih thirty-three times following the prayer, and to say the tahmid thirty-three times, and to say the takbir thirty-four times, then a man from among the Ansar was told in a dream: 'Did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) command you to say the tasbih thirty-three times following the prayer, and to say the tahmid thirty-three times, and to say the takbir thirty-four times?' He said: 'Yes.' 'Instead of that, say each one twenty-five times, and include the tahlil among them.' The next morning he came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and told him about that, and he said: 'Do that.'"
Hadith 1433
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قال : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ سَاعَةً لَا يُوَافِقُهَا عَبْدٌ مُسْلِمٌ قَائِمٌ يُصَلِّي يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ شَيْئًا , إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ إِيَّاهُ " , قُلْنَا : يُقَلِّلُهَا يُزَهِّدُهَا ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : لَا نَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا حَدَّثَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ غَيْرَ رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ إِلَّا أَيُّوبَ بْنَ سُوَيْدٍ ، فَإِنَّهُ حَدَّثَ بِهِ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ وَأَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ مَتْرُوكُ الْحَدِيثِ .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "Abu Al-Qasim (ﷺ) said: 'On Friday, there is an hour when, if a Muslim slave stands in prayer and asks Allah for something at that time, He will give it to him.'" He was reducing it: lessening it.
Hadith 1436
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ مِنْ مَكَّةَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ لَا يَخَافُ إِلَّا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) set out from Makkah to Al-Madinah, fearing nothing but the Lord of the worlds, and praying two rak'ahs.
Hadith 1437
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قال : " كُنَّا نَسِيرُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ لَا نَخَافُ إِلَّا اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ نُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "We used to travel with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) between Makkah and Al-Madinah, fearing nothing but Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, and praying two rak'ahs."
Hadith 1560
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قال : لَقِيتُ أُمَّ عَطِيَّةَ , فَقُلْتُ لَهَا : هَلْ سَمِعْتِ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ وَكَانَتْ إِذَا ذَكَرَتْهُ , قَالَتْ : بِأَبِي ، قال : " أَخْرِجُوا الْعَوَاتِقَ وَذَوَاتِ الْخُدُورِ فَيَشْهَدْنَ الْعِيدَ وَدَعْوَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ , وَلْيَعْتَزِلِ الْحُيَّضُ مُصَلَّى النَّاسِ " .
´It was narrated that Muhammad said:` "I met Umm 'Atiyyah and said to her: 'Did you hear the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say (anything)?' When she mentioned him, she would say: 'May my father be ransomed for him.' (He said) 'Bring out the adolescent girls and the women in seclusion and let them witness goodness and the supplication of the Muslims, but let the menstruating women keep away from the place where the people pray.'"
Hadith 1589
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قال : " خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ أَضْحًى وَانْكَفَأَ إِلَى كَبْشَيْنِ أَمْلَحَيْنِ فَذَبَحَهُمَا " .
´It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) addressed us on the day of Al-Adha and went to two black and white rams and slaughtered them."
Hadith 1648
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا وَقَاعِدًا ، فَإِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ قَائِمًا رَكَعَ قَائِمًا , وَإِذَا افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ قَاعِدًا رَكَعَ قَاعِدًا " .
´It was narrated hat Aishah said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray standing and sitting. If he started to pray standing, he would bow standing and if he started to pray sitting, he would bow sitting."
Hadith 1850
أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ ، يَقُولُ : ذُكِرَ عِنْدَ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ : " الْمَيِّتُ يُعَذَّبُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ " , فَقَالَ عِمْرَانُ : قَالَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin Subaih said:` "I heard Muhammad bin Sirin say: It was mentioned in the presence of 'Imran bin Husain that the deceased is punished due to the weeping of the living.' 'Imran said: "The Messenger of Allah said it."
Hadith 1877
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ وَهُوَ الْأَزْرَقُ ، عَنْ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمَيْنِ يَمُوتُ بَيْنَهُمَا ثَلَاثَةُ أَوْلَادٍ لَمْ يَبْلُغُوا الْحِنْثَ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُمَا اللَّهُ بِفَضْلِ رَحْمَتِهِ إِيَّاهُمُ الْجَنَّةَ , قَالَ : يُقَالُ لَهُمُ ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ , فَيَقُولُونَ : حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ آبَاؤُنَا , فَيُقَالُ : ادْخُلُوا الْجَنَّةَ أَنْتُمْ وَآبَاؤُكُمْ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet said:` "There are no two Muslims, three of whose children die before reaching puberty, but Allah will admit them to Paradise by virtue of His mercy toward them. It will be said to them: 'Enter Paradise.' They will say: 'Not until our parents enter.' So it will be said: 'Enter Paradise, you and your parents."'
Hadith 1882
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ عَطِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ تُوُفِّيَتِ ابْنَتُهُ , فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَعْطَانَا حَقْوَهُ , وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
´It was narrated from Muhammad bin Sirin that Umm 'Atiyyah Al-Ansariyyah said:` "The Messenger of Allah entered upon us when his daughter died, and said: 'Wash her three times or five, or more if you think (that is needed), with water and lote leaves, and put some camphor in it the last time, and when you have finished call me.' When we finished we called him and he gave us his waist-wrap, and said: 'Shroud her in it."'
Hadith 1887
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُ ابْنَتَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ , وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
´It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said:` "The Messenger of Allah entered upon us when we were washing his daughter and said: 'Wash her three times or five, or more if you think (that is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.' When we finished, we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: 'Shroud her in it."'
Hadith 1888
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَتْ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ , وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .

Hadith 1890
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرٌ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ بَعْضِ إِخْوَتِهِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَتِ ابْنَةٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَنَا بِغَسْلِهَا ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ " , قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ : وِتْرًا ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَعْطَانَا حِقْوَهُ , وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
´It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said:` "A daughter of the Messenger of Allah died and he told us to wash her. He said: 'Three times, or five or seven, or more than that, if you think that (is necessary).' I said: 'An odd number?' He said: 'Yes, and put camphor, or some camphor, in (the water) the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.' So when you have finished, we informed him, and then gave us his waist-wrap and said: 'Shroud her in it."
Hadith 1891
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ زُرَارَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : أَتَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُ ابْنَتَهُ , فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكِ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ , وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " , قَالَ : أَوْ قَالَتْ حَفْصَةُ : اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ سَبْعًا , قَالَ : وَقَالَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ : مَشَطْنَاهَا ثَلَاثَةَ قُرُونٍ ,
´It was narrated from Ayyub, from Muhammad, that Umm 'Atiyyah said:` "The Messenger of Allah came to us when we were washing his daughter. He said: 'Wash her three times, or five, or more than that if you think that (is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in (the water) the last time. And when you have finished, inform me.' When we finished, we informed him and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: 'Shroud her in it."' He said: "Hafsah said: 'We washed her three, or five, or seven times.' Umm 'Atiyyah said: 'We combed her hair into three braids."'
Hadith 1892
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : " وَجَعَلْنَا رَأْسَهَا ثَلَاثَةَ قُرُونٍ " ,
´Ayyub narrated from Muhammad, who said:` "Hafsah informed me that Umm 'Atiyyah said: 'We put her hair in three braids."'
Hadith 1894
أَخْبَرَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي أَيُّوبُ بْنُ أَبِي تَمِيمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ سِيرِينَ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ قَدِمَتْ تُبَادِرُ ابْنًا لَهَا فَلَمْ تُدْرِكْهُ ، حَدَّثَتْنَا ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا وَنَحْنُ نَغْسِلُ ابْنَتَهُ فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا أَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " , وَلَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ , قَالَ : لَا أَدْرِي أَيُّ بَنَاتِهِ , قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مَا قَوْلُهُ أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ أَتُؤَزَّرُ بِهِ ؟ قَالَ : لَا أُرَاهُ إِلَّا أَنْ يَقُولَ : " الْفُفْنَهَا فِيهِ " .
´Muhammad bin Sirin said:` "Umm 'Atiyyah was a woman from among the Ansar who told us: 'The Prophet entered upon us while we were washing his daughter and said: "Wash her three times, or five, or more than that if you think that (is necessary), with water and lotus leaves, and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished, inform me." So when we finished we informed him, and he threw his waist-wrap to us and said: "Shroud her in it." And he did not add to that. He (the narrator) said: "I do not know which of his daughters that was." I said: "What did he mean by: 'Shroud her in it?' Did he mean to put it on like an Izar?" He said: "No, I think he meant to wrap her completely."
Hadith 1895
أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ النَّسَائِيُّ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : تُوُفِّيَ إِحْدَى بَنَاتِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكِ إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكِ وَاغْسِلْنَهَا بِالسِّدْرِ وَالْمَاءِ , وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي آخِرِ ذَلِكِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي قَالَتْ : فَآذَنَّاهُ فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حِقْوَهُ فَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
´It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said:` "One of the daughters of the Prophet died and he said: 'Wash her three times, or five, or more than that if you think that (is necessary). Wash her with water and lotus leaves and put camphor, or some camphor in it the last time. And when you have finished inform me.' We informed him, and he threw his waist-wrapper to us and said: 'Shroud her in it."'
Hadith 1925
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَنَّ جَنَازَةً مَرَّتْ بِالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقَامَ الْحَسَنُ وَلَمْ يَقُمِ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ , فَقَالَ الْحَسَنُ : " أَلَيْسَ قَدْ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِجَنَازَةِ يَهُودِيٍّ , قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : نَعَمْ , ثُمَّ جَلَسَ " .
´It was narrated from Muhammad that:` a funeral passed by Al-Hasan bin 'Ali and Ibn 'Abbas. Al-Hasan stood up but Ibn 'Abbas did not/ Al-Hasan said: 'Didn't the Messenger of Allah stand up for the funeral of a Jew?' Ibn 'Abbas said: 'Yes, then he sat down."'
