Hadith 14
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ أَعْرَابِيًّا ، جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، دُلَّنِي عَلَى عَمَلٍ ، إِذَا عَمِلْتُهُ دَخَلْتُ الْجَنَّةَ ، قَالَ : " تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ ، لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا ، وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ ، وَتُؤَدِّي الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ ، وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ " ، قَالَ : وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، لَا أَزِيدُ عَلَى هَذَا شَيْئًا أَبَدًا ، وَلَا أَنْقُصُ مِنْهُ ، فَلَمَّا وَلَّى ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى هَذَا " .
It is reported on the authority of Abu Huraira that a bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) and said: Messenger of Allah, direct me to a deed by which I may be entitled to enter Paradise. Upon this he (the Holy Prophet) remarked: You worship Allah and never associate anything with Him, establish the obligatory prayer, and pay the Zakat which is incumbent upon you, and observe the fast of Ramadan. He (the bedouin) said: By Him in Whose hand is my life, I will never add anything to it, nor will I diminish anything from it. When he (the bedouin) turned his back, the Prophet (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said: He who is pleased to see a man from the dwellers of Paradise should catch a glimpse of him.
Hadith 50
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ الْخَطْمِيُّ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا كَانَ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ ، إِلَّا وَقَدْ كَانَ لَهُ حَوَارِيُّونَ ، يَهْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِ ، وَيَسْتَنُّونَ بِسُنَّتِهِ " ، مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قُدُومَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، وَاجْتِمَاعِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَعَهُ .
The same hadith has been transmitted by another chain of narrators on the authority of 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud who observed: Never was there one among the prophets who had had not disciples who followed his direction and followed his ways. The remaining part of the hadith is like that as narrated by Salih but the arrival of Ibn Mas'ud and the meeting of Ibn 'Umar with him is not mentioned.
Hadith 59
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ مَوْلَى الْحُرَقَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مِنْ عَلَامَاتِ الْمُنَافِقِ ثَلَاثَةٌ ، إِذَا حَدَّثَ كَذَبَ ، وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ ، وَإِذَا ائْتُمِنَ خَانَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: There are three characteristics of a hypocrite: when he spoke he told a lie, when he made promise he acted treacherously, and when he was trusted he betrayed.
Hadith 80
وحَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل وَهُوَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
A hadith like this as narrated by Ibn 'Umar has also been transmitted by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri.
Hadith 132
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْجَوَّابِ ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ رُزَيْقٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that some people from amongst the Companions of the Apostle (ﷺ) came to him and said: Verily we perceive in our minds that which every one of us considers it too grave to express. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Do you really perceive it? They said: Yes. Upon this he remarked: That is the faith manifest. The same hadith has been transmitted by Muhammad bin 'Amr, Abu Baker bin Ishaq, Abu'l-Jawwab, A'mash and Abu Hurairah (RA) .
Hadith 260
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ مَوْلَى الْحُرَقَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جُزُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ ، وَأَرْخُوا اللِّحَى ، خَالِفُوا الْمَجُوسَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Trim closely the moustache, and grow beard, and thus act against the fire-worshippers.
Hadith 366
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ مَنْصُور : أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الْخَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ وَعْلَةَ السَّبَئِيُّ ، فَرْوًا فَمَسِسْتُهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا لَكَ تَمَسُّهُ ؟ قَدْ سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّا نَكُونُ بِالْمَغْرِبِ ، وَمَعَنَا الْبَرْبَرُ ، وَالْمَجُوسُ ، نُؤْتَى بِالْكَبْشِ ، قَدْ ذَبَحُوهُ وَنَحْنُ لَا نَأْكُلُ ذَبَائِحَهُمْ ، وَيَأْتُونَا بِالسِّقَاءِ ، يَجْعَلُونَ فِيهِ الْوَدَكَ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : قَدْ سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : " دِبَاغُهُ طَهُورُهُ " .
Abu al-Khair reported: I saw Ibn Wa'la al-Saba'i wear a fur. I touched it. He said: Why do you touch it? I asked Ibn 'Abbas saying: We are the inhabitants of the western regions, and there (live) with us Berbers and Magians. They bring with them rams and slaughter them, but we do not eat (the meat of the animals) slaughtered by them, and they come with skins full of fat. Upon this Ibn 'Abbas said: We asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about this and he said: Its tanning makes it pure.
Hadith 366
وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَيْرِ حَدَّثَهُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ وَعْلَةَ السَّبَئيِّ ، قَالَ : " سَأَلْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، قُلْتُ : إِنَّا نَكُونُ بِالْمَغْرِبِ ، فَيَأْتِينَا الْمَجُوسُ بِالأَسْقِيَةِ ، فِيهَا الْمَاءُ وَالْوَدَكُ ، فَقَالَ : اشْرَبْ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَرَأْيٌ تَرَاهُ ، فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " دِبَاغُهُ طَهُورُهُ " .
Ibn Wa'la al-Saba'i reported: I asked 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas saying: We are the inhabitants of the western regions. The Magians come to us with skins full of water and fat. He said: Drink. I said to him: Is it your own opinion? Ibn Abbas (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: Tanning purifies it (the skin).
Hadith 480
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي زَيْدُ بْنُ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " نَهَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي الرُّكُوعِ ، وَالسُّجُودِ ، وَلَا أَقُولُ : نَهَاكُمْ " .
' Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade me from the recitation (of the Qur'an) in bowing and prostration and I do not say that he forbade you.
Hadith 589
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ زَوْجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يَدْعُو فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ " ، قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ لَهُ قَائِلٌ : مَا أَكْثَرَ مَا تَسْتَعِيذُ مِنَ الْمَغْرَمِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا غَرِمَ ، حَدَّثَ ، فَكَذَبَ ، وَوَعَدَ ، فَأَخْلَفَ " .
'A'isha, the wife of the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) used to supplicate in prayer thus:" O Allah! I seek refuge with Thee from the torment of the grave, and I seek refuge with Thee from the trial of the Masih al-Dajjal (Antichrist) and I seek refuge with Thee from the trial of life and death. O Allah! I seek refuge with Thee from sin and debt." She ('A'isha) reported: Someone said to him - (the Holy Prophet): Messenger of Allah! (ﷺ) why is it that you so often seek refuge from debt? He said: When a (person) incurs debt, (he is obliged) to tell lies and break promise.
Hadith 649
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدٌ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أن أبا هريرة ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ قَالَ : بِخَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ جُزْءًا .
A hadith like this has been narrated by Abu Hurairah (RA) with another chain of transmitters with a very slight change of words.
Hadith 763
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكُ بْنُ أَبِي نَمِرٍ ، عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : رَقَدْتُ فِي بَيْتِ مَيْمُونَةَ ، لَيْلَةَ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عِنْدَهَا ، لِأَنْظُرَ كَيْفَ صَلَاةُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِ ، قَالَ : فَتَحَدَّثَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَ أَهْلِهِ سَاعَةً ، ثُمَّ رَقَدَ ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَفِيهِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَتَوَضَّأَ وَاسْتَنَّ .
Ibn 'Abbas reported: I slept one night in the house of Maimuna when the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) was there, with a view to seeing the prayer of the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) at night. The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) entered into conversation with his wife for a short while, and then went to sleep, and the rest of the hadith is the same and in it mention is made of:" He then got up, performed ablution and brushed his teeth."
Hadith 817
وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ وَاثِلَةَ اللَّيْثِيُّ ، أَنَّ نَافِعَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ الْخُزَاعِيَّ ، لَقِيَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ بِعُسْفَانَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ .
This hadith has been narrated by Zuhri through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1039
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إسحاق ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكٌ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ ، أنهما سمعا أبا هريرة ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ .
This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1091
حَدَّثَنِي حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إسحاق ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو غَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ وَكُلُوا وَاشْرَبُوا حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمُ الْخَيْطُ الأَبْيَضُ مِنَ الْخَيْطِ الأَسْوَدِ سورة البقرة آية 187 ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ الرَّجُلُ إِذَا أَرَادَ الصَّوْمَ ، رَبَطَ أَحَدُهُمْ فِي رِجْلَيْهِ الْخَيْطَ الْأَسْوَدَ وَالْخَيْطَ الْأَبْيَضَ ، فَلَا يَزَالُ يَأْكُلُ وَيَشْرَبُ ، حَتَّى يَتَبَيَّنَ لَهُ رِئْيُهُمَا ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الْفَجْرِ سورة البقرة آية 187 ، فَعَلِمُوا أَنَّمَا يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ اللَّيْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ " .
Sahl bin Sa'd (RA) said: When this verse was revealed. "Eat and drink till the white streak becomes distinct from the dark streak for you," the person who decided to observe fast tied on one of his feet a black thread and on the other a white thread. And he went on eating and drinking till he could distinguish (between their colour) on seeing them. It was after this that Allah revealed (the words): min al-fajr. And they (the Muslims) came to know that (the word khait) refers to the night and day.
Hadith 1649

Zahdam al-Jarmi reported: We were in the company of Abu Musa. The rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 1979
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ كَثِيرِ بْنِ عُفَيْرٍ أَبُو عُثْمَانَ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، أَنَّ حُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا ، قَالَ : " كَانَتْ لِي شَارِفٌ مِنْ نَصِيبِي مِنَ الْمَغْنَمِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ، وَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْطَانِي شَارِفًا مِنَ الْخُمُسِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، فَلَمَّا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبْتَنِيَ بِفَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَاعَدْتُ رَجُلًا صَوَّاغًا مِنْ بَنِي قَيْنُقَاعَ يَرْتَحِلُ مَعِيَ ، فَنَأْتِي بِإِذْخِرٍ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَبِيعَهُ مِنَ الصَّوَّاغِينَ ، فَأَسْتَعِينَ بِهِ فِي وَلِيمَةِ عُرْسِي ، فَبَيْنَا أَنَا أَجْمَعُ لِشَارِفَيَّ مَتَاعًا مِنَ الْأَقْتَابِ وَالْغَرَائِرِ وَالْحِبَالِ وَشَارِفَايَ مُنَاخَانِ إِلَى جَنْبِ حُجْرَةِ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ وَجَمَعْتُ حِينَ جَمَعْتُ مَا جَمَعْتُ ، فَإِذَا شَارِفَايَ قَدِ اجْتُبَّتْ أَسْنِمَتُهُمَا وَبُقِرَتْ خَوَاصِرُهُمَا وَأُخِذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا ، فَلَمْ أَمْلِكْ عَيْنَيَّ حِينَ رَأَيْتُ ذَلِكَ الْمَنْظَرَ مِنْهُمَا ، قُلْتُ : مَنْ فَعَلَ هَذَا ؟ ، قَالُوا : فَعَلَهُ حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَهُوَ فِي هَذَا الْبَيْتِ فِي شَرْبٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ غَنَّتْهُ قَيْنَةٌ وَأَصْحَابَهُ ، فَقَالَتْ فِي غِنَائِهَا : أَلَا يَا حَمْزُ لِلشُّرُفِ النِّوَاءِ ؟ ، فَقَامَ حَمْزَةُ بِالسَّيْفِ فَاجْتَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا ، فَأَخَذَ مِنْ أَكْبَادِهِمَا ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ : فَانْطَلَقْتُ حَتَّى أَدْخُلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعِنْدَهُ زَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ ، قَالَ : فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي وَجْهِيَ الَّذِي لَقِيتُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا لَكَ ؟ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا رَأَيْتُ كَالْيَوْمِ قَطُّ عَدَا حَمْزَةُ عَلَى نَاقَتَيَّ فَاجْتَبَّ أَسْنِمَتَهُمَا وَبَقَرَ خَوَاصِرَهُمَا وَهَهُوَ ذَا فِي بَيْتٍ مَعَهُ شَرْبٌ ، قَالَ فَدَعَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِرِدَائِهِ فَارْتَدَاهُ ثُمَّ انْطَلَقَ يَمْشِي وَاتَّبَعْتُهُ أَنَا وَزَيْدُ بْنُ حَارِثَةَ حَتَّى جَاءَ الْبَابَ الَّذِي فِيهِ حَمْزَةُ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ فَأَذِنُوا لَهُ ، فَإِذَا هُمْ شَرْبٌ فَطَفِقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلُومُ حَمْزَةَ فِيمَا فَعَلَ ، فَإِذَا حَمْزَةُ مُحْمَرَّةٌ عَيْنَاهُ ، فَنَظَرَ حَمْزَةُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى سُرَّتِهِ ثُمَّ صَعَّدَ النَّظَرَ فَنَظَرَ إِلَى وَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ حَمْزَةُ : وَهَلْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا عَبِيدٌ لِأَبِي ، فَعَرَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ ثَمِلٌ ، فَنَكَصَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ الْقَهْقَرَى وَخَرَجَ وَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ " .
Husain bin 'Ali reported 'Ali having said: There fell to my lot a she-camel out of the spoils of war on the Day of Badr, and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) gave me (another) she-camel on that day out of the Khums (one-fifth reserved for Allah and His Messenger). When I made up my mind to consummate my marriage with Fatima, the daughter of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , I prevailed upon a goldsmith of the tribe of Qainuqa' to go along with me so that we might bring Idhkhir wishing to sell that to the goldsmiths and thus I should be able to arrange my wedding feast. While I was arranging the equipments, i. e. litters, sacks and ropes, my two she-camels were sitting down at the side of the apartment of a person of the Ansar. I collected (the different articles of equipment) and found to my surprise that their humps had been chopped off and their haunches had been cut off and their livers had been taken out. I could not help weeping when I saw that plight of theirs. I said: Who has done that? They said: Hamza bin 'Abdul Muttalib has done this. and he is in this house dead drunk in the company of some of the Ansar with a singing girl singing before him and his companions. She said in her song: O Hamza, get up and attack these falty she-camels. Thereupon Hamza stood up with a sword (in his hand) and cut off their humps and ripped their haunches and tore out their livers. 'Ali said: I went away until I came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and there was with him Zaid bin Haritha. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) recognised from my face what I had experienced, whereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: What has happened to you? I said: Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I have never seen (such an unfortunate day) as this day. Hamza has committed aggression to my she-camels, and has cut off their humps. and ripped their haunches, and he is in a house in the company of some drunkards. (Hearing this) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sent for his mantle and, putting it on him, he proceeded, and I and Zaid bin Haritha followed him, until he came to the door (of the house) in which there was Hamza. He (the Holy Prophet) sought permission which they granted him. They were all drunk. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) began to reprimand Hamza for what he had done. Hamza's eyes were red. He cast a glance at Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and then looked towards his knees, and then lifted his eyes and cast a glance at his waist and then lifted his eyes and saw his face. And then Hamza said: Are you anything but the slaves of my father? Alah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to know that he was intoxicated, and he thus turned upon his heels, and came out, and we also came out along with him.
Hadith 1987
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، قَالَ : " نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَخْلِطَ بُسْرًا بِتَمْرٍ أَوْ زَبِيبًا بِتَمْرٍ أَوْ زَبِيبًا بِبُسْرٍ " ، وَقَالَ مَنْ شَرِبَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَذَكَرَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ وَكِيعٍ .
Isma'il bin Muslim al-'Abadi reported on the authority of the same chain of transmitters: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prohibited us that we should mix dry dates with unripe dates or (mix) grapes with dry dates (and prepare Nabidh). He also said: He who amongst you drinks-the rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 1988
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنٌ الْمُعَلِّمُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ بِهَذَيْنِ الْإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : الرُّطَبَ وَالزَّهْوَ وَالتَّمْرَ وَالزَّبِيبَ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Yahya bin Abu Kathir through these two chains of transmitters but with a slight variation of words.
Hadith 1988
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ الْعَطَّارُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ خَلِيطِ التَّمْرِ وَالْبُسْرِ ، وَعَنْ خَلِيطِ الزَّبِيبِ وَالتَّمْرِ ، وَعَنْ خَلِيطِ الزَّهْوِ وَالرُّطَبِ ، وَقَالَ : انْتَبِذُوا كُلَّ وَاحِدٍ عَلَى حِدَتِهِ " .
'Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah (RA), on the authority of his father, reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) forbidding the preparation of the mixture of ripe dates and unripe dates, and the mixture of grapes and dates, and that of nearly ripe dates and fresh dates but the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Prepare the Nabidh from each one of them separately.
Hadith 1991
وحَدَّثَنِي وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " قَدْ نُهِيَ أَنْ يُنْبَذَ الْبُسْرُ وَالرُّطَبُ جَمِيعًا وَالتَّمْرُ وَالزَّبِيبُ جَمِيعًا " .
Ibn 'Umar reported that they were forbidden to prepare Nabidh by mixing dry dates and fresh dates and dates and grapes together.
Hadith 2003
وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ خَمْرٌ وَكُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ " .
Ibn 'Umar, through another chain of transmitters; reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said this: Every intoxicant is Khamr and every intoxicant is forbidden.
Hadith 2007
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ سَهْلٍ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : ذُكِرَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْعَرَبِ ، فَأَمَرَ أَبَا أُسَيْدٍ أَنْ يُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهَا ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَقَدِمَتْ فَنَزَلَتْ فِي أُجُمِ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى جَاءَهَا ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا فَإِذَا امْرَأَةٌ مُنَكِّسَةٌ رَأْسَهَا ، فَلَمَّا كَلَّمَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْكَ ، قَالَ : " قَدْ أَعَذْتُكِ مِنِّي " ، فَقَالُوا لَهَا : أَتَدْرِينَ مَنْ هَذَا ؟ ، فَقَالَتْ : لَا ، فَقَالُوا : هَذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَكِ لِيَخْطُبَكِ ، قَالَتْ : أَنَا كُنْتُ أَشْقَى مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، قَالَ سَهْلٌ : فَأَقْبَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ حَتَّى جَلَسَ فِي سَقِيفَةِ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ هُوَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اسْقِنَا لِسَهْلٍ " ، قَالَ : فَأَخْرَجْتُ لَهُمْ هَذَا الْقَدَحَ فَأَسْقَيْتُهُمْ فِيهِ ، قَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ : فَأَخْرَجَ لَنَا سَهْلٌ ذَلِكَ الْقَدَحَ ، فَشَرِبْنَا فِيهِ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ اسْتَوْهَبَهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، فَوَهَبَهُ لَهُ وَفِي رِوَايَةِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ إِسْحاَقَ ، قَالَ : اسْقِنَا يَا سَهْلُ .
Sahl bin Sa'd reported: An Arab woman was mentioned before Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . He commanded Abu Usaid to send a message to her and he (accordingly) sent a message to her. She came and stayed in the fortresses of Banu Sa'idah. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went out until he came to her while she was (at that time) sitting with her head downcast. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) talked to her, she said: I seek refuge with Allah from you. Thereupon he said: I (have decided to) keep you away from me. They (the people near her) said: Do you know who he is? She said: No. They said: He is the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . He came to you in order to give you the proposal of marriage. She said: Then I am the most unfortunate woman because of this (i. e. my defiance). Sahl said: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) then set forth on that day until he sat in the Saqifa of Banu Sa'idah along with his Companions. He then said to Sahl (RA) : Serve us drink. He (Sahl) said: I brought out for them this bowl (containing drink) and served them this. Abu Hazim said: Sahl brought out this cup for us and we also drank from that. Then 'Umar bin 'Abdul ' Aziz (RA) asked him to give that (cup) as a gift to him and he gave (it to) him as a gift. In the narration of Abu Bakr (RA) bin Ishaq (the words) are: "Sahl, serve us drink."
Hadith 2022
وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : أَكَلْتُ يَوْمًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلْتُ آخُذُ مِنْ لَحْمٍ حَوْلَ الصَّحْفَةِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
Umar bin Abu Salama reported: I (had the opportunity) one day to dine with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and I picked up flesh from around the dish. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Eat from that which is near to you.
Hadith 2107
وحدثنا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ رُمْح ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ . ح وحدثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ ، حدثنا أبى عَنْ جَدِّي ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحدثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَيْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَخِي الْمَاجِشُونِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَبَعْضُهُمْ أَتَمُّ حَدِيثًا لَهُ مِنْ بَعْضٍ وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَخِي الْمَاجِشُونِ ، قَالَتْ : فَأَخَذْتُهُ فَجَعَلْتُهُ مِرْفَقَتَيْنِ فَكَانَ يَرْتَفِقُ بِهِمَا فِي الْبَيْتِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of A'isha through another chain of transmitters also. Some of the other ahadith narrated through other chains of transmitters are more complete and there is an addition in them (transmitted through other chains of transmitters). In the hadith transmitted on the authority of the nephew of Majishun she (A'isha) is reported to have said: I took it and prepared two cushions out of that and he (the Holy Prophet) used to recline against them in the house.
Hadith 2149
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قالا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قال : أُتِيَ بِالْمُنْذِرِ بْنِ أَبِي أُسَيْدٍ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ وُلِدَ ، فَوَضَعَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى فَخِذِهِ ، وَأَبُو أُسَيْدٍ جَالِسٌ فَلَهِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِشَيْءٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَأَمَرَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ بِابْنِهِ ، فَاحْتُمِلَ مِنْ عَلَى فَخِذِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَقْلَبُوهُ فَاسْتَفَاقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيْنَ الصَّبِيُّ ؟ " ، فَقَالَ أَبُو أُسَيْدٍ : أَقْلَبْنَاهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا اسْمُهُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : فُلَانٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " لَا ، وَلَكِنْ اسْمُهُ الْمُنْذِرُ " ، فَسَمَّاهُ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُنْذِر َ .
Sahl bin Sa'd reported that Mundhir bin Aba Usaid was brought to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) at the time of his birth Allah's. Apostle (ﷺ) placed him on his thigh and Abi Usaid kept sitting there. Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) had been occupied with something else before him. Abu Usaid commanded his child to be lifted from the lap of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and so he was lifted. When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had finished the work he said: Where is the child? Abd Usaid said: Allah's Messenger, we took him away. He said: What is his name? He said; Allah's Messenger, it is so and so, whereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: Nay, his name is Mundhir, and named him Mundhir on that day.
Hadith 2225
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُتْبَةُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ الشُّؤْمُ فِي شَيْءٍ ، فَفِي الْفَرَسِ وَالْمَسْكَنِ وَالْمَرْأَةِ " .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: If there is bad luck in anything, it is the horse, the abode and the woman.
Hadith 843
وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي سِنَانُ بْنُ أَبِي سِنَانٍ الدُّؤَلِيُّ ، وَأَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : أَنّ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ ، وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَخْبَرَهُمَا أَنَّهُ غَزَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَزْوَةً قِبَلَ نَجْدٍ ، فَلَمَّا قَفَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَفَلَ مَعَهُ ، فَأَدْرَكَتْهُمُ الْقَائِلَةُ يَوْمًا ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، وَمَعْمَرٍ .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah al-Ansiri, who was one amongst the Companions of Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , reported that he went on an expedition along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) towards Najd and Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stayed there, and when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came back he also came back along with him. They, for one day, stayed for rest; the rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 2373
وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : اسْتَبَّ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَرَجُلٌ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: A person from amongst the Muslims and a person from amongst the Jews fell into dispute and reviled each other. The rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 2403
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عُفَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ ، سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيُّ هَاهُنَا ، وَأَشَارَ لِي سُلَيْمَانُ إِلَى مَجْلِسِ سَعِيدٍ نَاحِيَةَ الْمَقْصُورَةِ ، قَالَ أَبُو مُوسَى : خَرَجْتُ أُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَدْ سَلَكَ فِي الْأَمْوَالِ فَتَبِعْتُهُ ، فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَدْ دَخَلَ مَالًا فَجَلَسَ فِي الْقُفِّ ، وَكَشَفَ عَنْ سَاقَيْهِ وَدَلَّاهُمَا فِي الْبِئْرِ ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ يَحْيَي بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قَوْلَ سَعِيدٍ فَأَوَّلْتُهَا قُبُورَهُمْ .
Abu Musa. reported: I set out with the intention (of meeting) Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and came to know that he had gone to the gardens (in the suburb of Madinah). I followed him and found him in a garden sitting upon an elevated place round the well with his shanks uncovered which had been dangling in the well. The rest of the hadith is the same but with this variation that there is no mention of the words of Sa'id: all drew a conclusion from it pertaining to their graves."
Hadith 2403
حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَرْيَمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا إِلَى حَائِطٍ بِالْمَدِينَةِ لِحَاجَتِهِ ، فَخَرَجْتُ فِي إِثْرِهِ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلَالٍ ، وَذَكَرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ : فَتَأَوَّلْتُ ذَلِكَ قُبُورَهُمُ اجْتَمَعَتْ هَاهُنَا ، وَانْفَرَدَ عُثْمَانُ .
Sa'id bin al-Musayyib reported Abu Musa Ash'ari having said that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) set out one day to the suburbs of Madinah for reliev- ing himself. I followed his steps. The rest of the hadith is the same. Ibn Musayyib said: I concluded (from the manner of their sitting) the (order) of their graves. (The three) would be together (the graves of the Holy Prophet, Hadrat Abu Bakr (RA) and Hadrat Umar) and that of 'Uthman would be separate (from them).
Hadith 2577
حَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْهِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ أَتَمُّهُمَا حَدِيثًا ،
The hadith is narrated through Abu Mushir from Sa'id bin 'Abdil'Aziz except that the previous hadith through Marwan was the more complete of the two.
Hadith 2743
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِهْرَامَ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ سَهْلٍ : حَدَّثَنَا وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " انْطَلَقَ ثَلَاثَةُ رَهْطٍ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ حَتَّى آوَاهُمُ الْمَبِيتُ إِلَى غَارٍ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ غَيْرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ : اللَّهُمَّ كَانَ لِي أَبَوَانِ شَيْخَانِ كَبِيرَانِ فَكُنْتُ لَا أَغْبِقُ قَبْلَهُمَا أَهْلًا وَلَا مَالًا ، وَقَالَ : فَامْتَنَعَتْ مِنِّي حَتَّى أَلَمَّتْ بِهَا سَنَةٌ مِنَ السِّنِينَ ، فَجَاءَتْنِي فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةَ دِينَارٍ ، وَقَالَ : فَثَمَّرْتُ أَجْرَهُ حَتَّى كَثُرَتْ مِنْهُ الْأَمْوَالُ ، فَارْتَعَجَتْ ، وَقَالَ : فَخَرَجُوا مِنْ الْغَارِ يَمْشُونَ .
'Abdullah b 'Umar reported: I heard Allah's Alessenger (ﷺ) as saying: Three persons belonging to the earlier Ummahs set out on a journey until they had to spend a night in a cave. The rest of the hadith is the same and the additional words are: "A person amongst them said: O Allah, I had my aged parents and I served them milk before I (served that) to my wife, children and my servants." And in case of the second one, the words are: "She avoided me until she was hard pressed because of famine and she came to me and I gave her one hundred and twenty dinars." And in case of the third one (the words are): "I invested his wages, and it brought profit and, as a result thereof, the merchandise increased and there was abundance of goods." And he (the narrator said) that they got out of the cave and began to walk.
Hadith 2785
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْمُغِيرَةُ يَعْنِي الْحِزَامِيَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَيَأْتِي الرَّجُلُ الْعَظِيمُ السَّمِينُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لَا يَزِنُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ جَنَاحَ بَعُوضَةٍ اقْرَءُوا فَلا نُقِيمُ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَزْنًا سورة الكهف آية 105 " .
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) as saying: A bulky person would be brought on the Day of Judgment and he would not carry the weight to the eye of Allah equal even to that of a gnat. Nor shall We set up a balance for them on the Day of Resurrection" (xviii. 105).
Hadith 2942
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ يَعْنِي الْحِزَامِيَّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ قَيْسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَعَدَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَقَالَ : أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ حَدَّثَنِي تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ أَنَّ أُنَاسًا مِنْ قَوْمِهِ كَانُوا فِي الْبَحْرِ فِي سَفِينَةٍ لَهُمْ ، فَانْكَسَرَتْ بِهِمْ فَرَكِبَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَى لَوْحٍ مِنْ أَلْوَاحِ السَّفِينَةِ ، فَخَرَجُوا إِلَى جَزِيرَةٍ فِي الْبَحْرِ ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ .
Fatima bin Qais reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) sat on the pulpit and said: O people, Tamim Dari has reported to me that some persons of his tribe sailed in the ocean in a boat and it capsised and then some of them travelled on one of the planks of the boat and they went to an island in the ocean. The rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 2959
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of al-'Ala' bin 'Abdul Rahman with the same chain of transmitters.
