Hadith 60
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَفَّرَ الرَّجُلُ أَخَاهُ ، فَقَدْ بَاءَ بِهَا أَحَدُهُمَا " .
It is reported on the authority of Ibn 'Umar that the Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) observed: When a man calls his brother an unbeliever, it returns (at least) to one of them.
Hadith 98
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَمَلَ عَلَيْنَا السِّلَاحَ ، فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا " .
It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) who narrates from the Prophet (ﷺ) of Allah (ﷺ) who said: He who took up arms against us is not of us.
Hadith 147
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ خُبَيْبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الإِيمَانَ لَيَأْرِزُ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، كَمَا تَأْرِزُ الْحَيَّةُ إِلَى جُحْرِهَا " .
It is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Verily the faith would recede to Madinah just as the serpent crawls back into its hole.
Hadith 259
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ سَعِيدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَحْفُوا الشَّوَارِبَ ، وَأَعْفُوا اللِّحَى " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: Trim closely the moustache, and let the beard grow.
Hadith 266
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ وَاسِعِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " رَقِيتُ عَلَى بَيْتِ أُخْتِي حَفْصَةَ ، فَرَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَاعِدًا لِحَاجَتِهِ ، مُسْتَقْبِلَ الشَّامِ ، مُسْتَدْبِرَ الْقِبْلَةِ " .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) said: I went up to the roof of the house of my sister Hafsa and saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) relieving himself facing Syria with his back to the Qibla.
Hadith 306
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْمُقَدَّمِيُّ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ واللفظ لهما ، قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيَرْقُدُ أَحَدُنَا وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: Umar said: Is one amongst us permitted to sleep in a state of impurity (i. e. after having sexual intercourse)? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Yes, after performing ablution.
Hadith 380
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُؤَذِّنَانِ ، بِلَالٌ ، وَابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ الأَعْمَى ،
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had two Mu'adhdhins, Bilal (RA) and 'Abdullah bin Umm Maktum, who (latter) was blind.
Hadith 380
وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'A'isha by another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 397
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، " أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَدَخَلَ رَجُلٌ فَصَلَّى ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَرَدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّلَامَ ، قَالَ : ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ ، فَرَجَعَ الرَّجُلُ فَصَلَّى كَمَا كَانَ ، صَلَّى ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : ارْجِعْ فَصَلِّ ، فَإِنَّكَ لَمْ تُصَلِّ ، حَتَّى فَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، فَقَالَ الرَّجُلُ : وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ ، مَا أُحْسِنُ غَيْرَ هَذَا عَلِّمْنِي ، قَالَ : إِذَ قُمْتَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَكَبِّرْ ، ثُمَّ اقْرَأْ مَا تَيَسَّرَ مَعَكَ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ ، ثُمَّ ارْكَعْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ رَاكِعًا ، ثُمَّ ارْفَعْ حَتَّى تَعْتَدِلَ قَائِمًا ، ثُمَّ اسْجُدْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ سَاجِدًا ، ثُمَّ ارْفَعْ حَتَّى تَطْمَئِنَّ جَالِسًا ، ثُمَّ افْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فِي صَلَاتِكَ كُلِّهَا " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered the mosque and a person also entered therein and offered prayer, and then came and paid salutation to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned his salutation and said: Go back and pray, for you have not offered the prayer. He again prayed as he had prayed before, and came to the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace be upon. him) and saluted him. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) returned the salutation and said: Go back and say prayer, for you have not offered the prayer. This (act of repeating the prayer) was done three times. Upon this the person said: By Him Who hast sent you with Truth, whatever better I can do than this, please teach me. He (the Holy Prophet) said: When you get up to pray, recite takbir, and then recite whatever you conveniently can from the Qur'an, then bow down and remain quietly in that position, then raise yourself and stand erect; then prostrate yourself and remain quietly in that attitude; then raise yourself and sit quietly; and do that throughout all your prayers.
Hadith 397
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا ، دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ فَصَلَّى ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نَاحِيَةٍ ، وَسَاقَا الْحَدِيثَ بِمِثْلِ هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ ، وَزَادَا فِيهِ : " إِذَا قُمْتَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، فَأَسْبِغْ الْوُضُوءَ ، ثُمَّ اسْتَقْبِلِ الْقِبْلَةَ ، فَكَبِّرْ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: A person entered the mosque and said prayer while the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was sitting in a nook (of the mosque), and the rest of the hadith is the same as mentioned above, but with this addition:" When you get up to pray, perform the ablution completely, and then turn towards the Qibla and recite takbir (Allah o Akbar =Allah is the Most Great)."
Hadith 421
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ السَّاعِدِيِّ ، قَالَ : ذَهَبَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ بَنِي عَمْرِو بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِهِمْ ، وَزَادَ ، فَجَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَخَرَقَ الصُّفُوفَ حَتَّى قَامَ عِنْدَ الصَّفِّ الْمُقَدَّمِ ، وَفِيهِ أَنَّ أَبَا بَكْرٍ : رَجَعَ الْقَهْقَرَى .
Sahl bin Sa'd al-Sa'idi reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) went to Bani Amr bin 'Auf in order to bring about reconciliation amongst them. The rest of the hadith is the same but with (the addition of these words): "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came and made his way through the rows till he came to the first row and Abu Bakr (RA) retraced his steps."
Hadith 442
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، وَابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : لَا تَمْنَعُوا إِمَاءَ اللَّهِ ، مَسَاجِدَ اللَّهِ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Do not prevent the maid-servants of Allah from going to the mosque.
Hadith 486
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : فَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَيْلَةً مِنَ الْفِرَاشِ ، فَالْتَمَسْتُهُ فَوَقَعَتْ يَدِي عَلَى بَطْنِ قَدَمَيْهِ ، وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَهُمَا مَنْصُوبَتَانِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ أَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْ سَخَطِكَ ، وَبِمُعَافَاتِكَ مِنْ عُقُوبَتِكَ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْكَ ، لَا أُحْصِي ثَنَاءً عَلَيْكَ أَنْتَ ، كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ عَلَى نَفْسِكَ " .
Ibn Juraij reported: I asked 'Ata': What do you recite when you are in a state of bowing (in prayer)? He said: "Hallowed be Thou, and with Thy praise, there is no god but Thou." Son of Abd Mulaikah narrated to me on the authority of 'A'isha (who reported): I missed one night the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) (from his bed). I thought that he might have gone to one of his other wives. I searched for him and then came back and (found him) in a state of bowing, or prostration, saying: Hallowed be Thou and with Thy praise; there is no god but Thou. I said: With my father mayest thou be ransomed and with my mother. I was thinking of (another) affair, whereas you are (occupied) in another one.
Hadith 501
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ ، أَمَرَ بِالْحَرْبَةِ ، فَتُوضَعُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَيُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا وَالنَّاسُ وَرَاءَهُ ، وَكَانَ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ فِي السَّفَرِ ، فَمِنْ ثَمَّ ، اتَّخَذَهَا الأُمَرَاءُ " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace he upon him) went out on the 'Id day, he ordered to carry a spear-and it was fixed in front of him, and he said prayer towards its (direction), and the people were behind him. And he did it in the journey, and that is the reason why the Amirs carried it.
Hadith 501
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يَرْكُزُ ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : " يَغْرِزُ الْعَنَزَةَ ، وَيُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا " زَادَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ : وَهِيَ الْحَرْبَةُ .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) set up (sutra), and Abu Bakr (RA) said: He implanted iron-tipped spear and said prayer towards its direction. Ibn Abu Shaiba made this addition to it: "Ubaidullah said that it was a spear."
Hadith 502
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يَعْرِضُ رَاحِلَتَهُ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا " .
Ibn 'Umar said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) used to place his camel (towards the Ka’bah) and said prayer in its direction.
Hadith 502
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يُصَلِّي إِلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، وقَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، صَلَّى إِلَى بَعِيرٍ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) used to say prayer towards his camel. Ibn Numair said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said prayer towards the camel.
Hadith 547
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رُمْحٍ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي فُدَيْكٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الضَّحَّاكُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُثْمَانَ ، ح حَدَّثَنِي هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّد ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى نُخَامَةً فِي قِبْلَةِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، إِلَّا الضَّحَّاكَ ، فَإِنَّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : نُخَامَةً فِي الْقِبْلَةِ ، بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw spittle on the wall towards Qibla, and scratched it away and then turning to the people said: When any one of you prays, he must not spit in front of him, for Allah is in front of him when he is engaged in prayer.
Hadith 559
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وُضِعَ عَشَاءُ أَحَدِكُمْ ، وَأُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَابْدَءُوا بِالْعَشَاءِ ، وَلَا يَعْجَلَنَّ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ مِنْهُ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When the supper is served to any one of you and the prayer also begins. (in such a case) first take supper, and do not make haste (for prayer) till you have (taken the food).
Hadith 561
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ فِي غَزْوَةِ خَيْبَرَ : " مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، يَعْنِي الثُّومَ ، فَلَا يَأْتِيَنَّ الْمَسَاجِدَ " ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ فِي غَزْوَةٍ : وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ خَيْبَرَ .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who eats of this (offensive) plant must not approach our mosque, till its odour dies: (plant signifies) garlic.
Hadith 561
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْبَقْلَةِ ، فَلَا يَقْرَبَنَّ مَسَاجِدَنَا ، حَتَّى يَذْهَبَ رِيحُهَا ، يَعْنِي الثُّومَ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: He who eats of this (offensive) plant must not approach our mosque, till its odour dies: (plant signifies) garlic.
Hadith 575
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى كلهم ، عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ ، فَيَقْرَأُ سُورَةً فِيهَا سَجْدَةٌ ، فَيَسْجُدُ ، وَنَسْجُدُ مَعَهُ ، حَتَّى مَا يَجِدُ بَعْضُنَا مَوْضِعًا لِمَكَانِ جَبْهَتِهِ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) while reciting the Qur'an recited its scarab containing sajda, and he performed prostration and we also prostrated along with him (but we were so overcrowded) that some of us could not find a place for our forehead (when prostrating ourselves).
Hadith 575
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " رُبَّمَا قَرَأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْقُرْآنَ ، فَيَمُرُّ بِالسَّجْدَةِ ، فَيَسْجُدُ بِنَا ، حَتَّى ازْدَحَمْنَا عِنْدَهُ ، حَتَّى مَا يَجِدُ أَحَدُنَا مَكَانًا لِيَسْجُدَ فِيهِ ، فِي غَيْرِ صَلَاةٍ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: Sometimes the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) recited the Qur'an, and would pass by (recite) the verse of sajda and performed prostration and he did this along with us, but we were so crowded in his company that none of us could find a place for performing prostration. (and it was done on occasions) other than prayer.
Hadith 580
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَ عَبْدُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ رَافِعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ إِذَا جَلَسَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، وَضَعَ يَدَيْهِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ، وَرَفَعَ إِصْبَعَهُ الْيُمْنَى ، الَّتِي تَلِي الإِبْهَامَ ، فَدَعَا بِهَا ، وَيَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رُكْبَتِهِ الْيُسْرَى ، بَاسِطُهَا عَلَيْهَا " .
Ibn 'Umar reported that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat for tashahhud he placed his left hand on his left knee. and his right hand on his right knee. and he raised his right finger, which is next to the thumb, making supplication in this way, and he stretched his left hand on his left knee. Another version on the authority of Ibn 'Umar (RA) says: When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat for tashahhud, he placed his left hand on his left knee and placed his right hand on his right knee, and he formed a ring like (fifty-three) and pointed with his finger of attestation.
Hadith 595
حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ التَّيْمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ سُمَيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، أَنَّ فُقَرَاءَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، أَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى ، وَالنَّعِيمِ الْمُقِيمِ ، فَقَالَ : وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ قَالُوا : يُصَلُّونَ كَمَا نُصَلِّي ، وَيَصُومُونَ كَمَا نَصُومُ ، وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَلَا نَتَصَدَّقُ ، وَيُعْتِقُونَ وَلَا نُعْتِقُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَفَلَا أُعَلِّمُكُمْ شَيْئًا تُدْرِكُونَ بِهِ مَنْ سَبَقَكُمْ ، وَتَسْبِقُونَ بِهِ مَنْ بَعْدَكُمْ ، وَلَا يَكُونُ أَحَدٌ أَفْضَلَ مِنْكُمْ ، إِلَّا مَنْ صَنَعَ مِثْلَ مَا صَنَعْتُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " تُسَبِّحُونَ ، وَتُكَبِّرُونَ ، وَتَحْمَدُونَ ، دُبُرَ كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ ، ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ مَرَّةً " ، قَالَ أَبُو صَالِحٍ : فَرَجَعَ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ ، إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : سَمِعَ إِخْوَانُنَا أَهْلُ الأَمْوَالِ بِمَا فَعَلْنَا ، فَفَعَلُوا مِثْلَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ذَلِكَ فَضْلُ اللَّهِ ، يُؤْتِهِ مَنْ يَشَاءُ ، وَزَادَ غَيْرُ قُتَيْبَةَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، قَالَ : سُمَيٌّ ، فَحَدَّثْتُ بَعْضَ أَهْلِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثَ ، فَقَالَ : وَهِمْتَ ، إِنَّمَا قَالَ : " تُسَبِّحُ اللَّهَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتَحْمَدُ اللَّهَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتُكَبِّرُ اللَّهَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ " ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ ذَلِكَ ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي ، فَقَالَ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ ، حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ مِنْ جَمِيعِهِنَّ ثَلَاثَةً وَثَلَاثِينَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَجْلَانَ : فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، رَجَاءَ بْنَ حَيْوَةَ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي بِمِثْلِهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The poor amongst the emigrants came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: The possessors of great wealth have obtained the highest ranks and the lasting bliss. lie (the Holy Prophet) said: How Is that? They said: They pray as we pray, and they observe fast as we observe fast, and they give charity but we do not give charity, and they set slaves free but we do not set slaves free. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Shall A not teach you something by which you will catch upon those who have preceded you, and get ahead of those who come after you, only those who do as you do being more excellent than you? They said: Yes, Messenger of Allah. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Extol Allah, declare His Greatness, and Praise Him thirty-three times after every prayer. Abu Salih said: The poor amongst the emigrants returned to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace upon him) saying: Our brethren, the possessors, of property have heard what we have done and they did the same. So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: This is Allah's Grace which He gives to whom He wishes. Sumayy reported: I made a mention of this hadith to some members of my family (and one of them) said: You have forgotten; he (the Holy Prophet) had said (like this):." Extol Allah thirty-three time. praise Allah thirty-three times and declare His Greatness thirty-three times. Ibn 'Ajjan said: I made a mention of this hadith to Raja' bin Haiwata and he narrated to me a hadith like this from AbuSalih from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA)
Hadith 607
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، وَالأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، وَمَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، وَيُونُسَ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ ، مَعَ الإِمَامِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَدْ أَدْرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ كُلَّهَا .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Malik and there is no mention of "along with the Imam" and In the hadith transmitted by 'Abdullah the words are: "he in fact finds the entire prayer".
Hadith 650
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ فِي الْجَمَاعَةِ ، تَزِيدُ عَلَى صَلَاتِهِ وَحْدَهُ سَبْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: The prayer of a person in congregation is twenty-seven times in excess to the prayer said alone.
Hadith 650
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ : بِضْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ ، وقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ : سَبْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ دَرَجَةً .
Ibn Numair reported it on the authority of his father (a preference of) more than twenty (degrees) and Abu Bakr (RA) in his narration (has narrated it) twenty-seven degrees.
Hadith 694
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ " ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ بَعْدَهُ ، وَعُمَرُ بَعْدَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَعُثْمَانُ صَدْرًا مِنْ خِلَافَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ إِنَّ عُثْمَانَ صَلَّى بَعْدُ أَرْبَعًا ، فَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِذَا صَلَّى مَعَ الإِمَامِ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا ، وَإِذَا صَلَّاهَا وَحْدَهُ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ .
Ibn 'Umar reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said two rak'ahs at Mina, and Abu Bakr (RA) after him, and 'Umar after Abu Bakr, and 'Uthman at the beginning of his caliphate; then 'Uthman observed four rak'ahs, and when Ibn 'Umar prayed with the Imam, he said four rak'ahs, but when he observed prayer alone, he said two rak'ahs.
Hadith 694
وحَدَّثَنَاه ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَهُوَ الْقَطَّانُ . ح ، وحدثناه أبو كريب ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنَاه ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
A hadith like this has been narrated by the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 697
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ نَادَى بِالصَّلَاةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ذَاتِ بَرْدٍ ، وَرِيحٍ ، وَمَطَرٍ ، فَقَالَ فِي آخِرِ نِدَائِهِ : أَلَا صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ ، أَلَا صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يَأْمُرُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ ، إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ بَارِدَةٌ ، أَوْ ذَاتِ مَطَرٍ فِي السَّفَرِ ، أَنْ يَقُولَ : أَلَا صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported that he summoned (people) to pray on a cold, windy and rainy night, and then observed at the end of the Adhan: Pray in your dwellings, pray in your dwellings, and then said: When it was a cold night or it was raining in a journey the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace he upon him) used to command the Mu'adhdhin to announce: Pray in your dwellings.
Hadith 697
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ نَادَى بِالصَّلَاةِ بِضَجْنَانَ ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ بِمِثْلِهِ ، وَقَالَ : أَلَا صَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِكُمْ ، وَلَمْ يُعِدْ ثَانِيَةً ، أَلَا صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ ، مِنْ قَوْلِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ .
Ibn 'Umar reported that he summoned (people) to prayer at a place (known as) Dajnan, and the rest of the hadith is the same, and then said: Pray in your dwellings, but he did not repeat for the second time words of Ibn 'Umar (Pray in your dwellings).
Hadith 700
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يُصَلِّي سُبْحَتَهُ ، حَيْثُمَا تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ نَاقَتُهُ " .
A hadith like this that Ibn 'Abbas ordered his Mu'adhdhin (to summon people to prayer and then make announcement to say prayer in their houses) on Friday which was a rainy day, has been transmitted by 'Abdullah bin Harith. Wuhaib, however, says that he did not hear it from him.
Hadith 700
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الأَحْمَرُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported that the Apostle (ﷺ) used to pray on (the back of) his camel in whatever direction it took him.
Hadith 703
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، كَانَ إِذَا جَدَّ بِهِ السَّيْرُ ، جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ ، بَعْدَ أَنْ يَغِيبَ الشَّفَقُ ، وَيَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ إِذَا جَدَّ بِهِ السَّيْرُ ، جَمَعَ بَيْنَ الْمَغْرِبِ وَالْعِشَاءِ " .
Nafi' reported that when Ibn 'Umar was in a state of hurry on a journey, he combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers after the twilight had disappeared, and he would say that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was in a state of hurry on a journey, he combined the sunset and 'Isha' prayers.
Hadith 715
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ يَعْنِي الثَّقَفِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزَاةٍ ، فَأَبْطَأَ بِي جَمَلِي وَأَعْيَا ، ثُمَّ قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلِي ، وَقَدِمْتُ بِالْغَدَاةِ ، فَجِئْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَوَجَدْتُهُ عَلَى بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، قَالَ : الْآنَ حِينَ قَدِمْتَ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَدَعْ جَمَلَكَ ، وَادْخُلْ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، قَالَ : فَدَخَلْتُ فَصَلَّيْتُ ، ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ " .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported: I went with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on an expedition and my camel delayed me and I was exhausted. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) thus came earlier than I, whereas I came on the next day and went to the mosque and found him (the Holy Prophet) at the gate of the mosque. He said: It is now that you have come. I said. Yes. He said: Leave your camel and enter (the mosque) and observe two rak'ahs. He (the narrator) said: So I entered and observed (two rak'ahs) of prayer and then went back.
Hadith 723
وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح . وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح ، وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، كَمَا قَالَ مَالِكٌ .
This hadith has been transmitted by Nafi' with the same chain of narrators.
Hadith 751
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " اجْعَلُوا آخِرَ صَلَاتِكُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وِتْرًا " .
Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Make Witr the end of your night prayer.
Hadith 777
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " اجْعَلُوا مِنْ صَلَاتِكُمْ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ وَلَا تَتَّخِذُوهَا قُبُورًا " .
Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Observe some of your prayers in your houses and do not make them graves.
Hadith 782
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ يَعْنِي الثَّقَفِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : كَانَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَصِيرٌ ، وَكَانَ يُحَجِّرُهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيُصَلِّي فِيهِ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يُصَلُّونَ بِصَلَاتِهِ وَيَبْسُطُهُ بِالنَّهَارِ ، فَثَابُوا ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، فَقَالَ " يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ الأَعْمَالِ مَا تُطِيقُونَ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَمَلُّ حَتَّى تَمَلُّوا ، وَإِنَّ أَحَبَّ الأَعْمَالِ إِلَى اللَّهِ مَا دُووِمَ عَلَيْهِ وَإِنْ قَلَّ " ، وَكَانَ آلُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذَا عَمِلُوا عَمَلًا أَثْبَتُوهُ .
'A'isha reported that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had a mat and he used it for making an apartment during the night and observed prayer in it, and the people began to pray with him, and he spread it (the mat) during the day time. The people crowded round him one night. He (the Holy Prophet) then Eaid: O people, perform such acts as you are capable of doing, for Allah does not grow weary but you will get tired. The acts most pleasing to Allah are those which are done continuously, even if they are small. And it was the habit of the members of Muhammad's (ﷺ) household that whenever they did an act they did it continuously.
