Hadith 32
أَخْبَرَنَا أَيَّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَتْنِي حُكَيْمَةُ بِنْتُ أُمَيْمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّهَا أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتِ رُقَيْقَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدَحٌ مِنْ عَيْدَانٍ يَبُولُ فِيهِ وَيَضَعُهُ تَحْتَ السَّرِيرِ " .
´It was narrated that Umaimah bint Ruqaiqah said:` "The Prophet (ﷺ) had a vessel made from a date tree in which he would urinate and place it under the bed."
Hadith 64
أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّ ثَابِتًا مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وَلَغَ الْكَلْبُ فِي إِنَاءِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَلْيَغْسِلْهُ سَبْعَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
´Thabit, the freed slave of 'Abdur-Rahman bin Zaid narrated that he heard Abu Hurairah say:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'If a dog licks the vessel of any one of you, let him wash it seven times.'"
Hadith 65
أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ هِلَالُ بْنُ أَسَامَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ ، يُخْبِرُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، مِثْلَهُ .
A similar Hadith was narrated from Abu Hurairah from Prophet (ﷺ).
Hadith 95
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمِقْسَمِيُّ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : حَدَّثَنِي شَيْبَةُ ، أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي عَلِيٌّ ، أَنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ ، قال : دَعَانِي أَبِي عَلِيٌّ بِوَضُوءٍ ، فَقَرَّبْتُهُ لَهُ فَبَدَأَ " فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُدْخِلَهُمَا فِي وَضُوئِهِ ، ثُمَّ مَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا وَاسْتَنْثَرَ ثَلَاثًا ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى إِلَى الْمِرْفَقِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ الْيُسْرَى كَذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ مَسْحَةً وَاحِدَةً ، ثُمَّ غَسَلَ رِجْلَهُ الْيُمْنَى إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ الْيُسْرَى كَذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ قَائِمًا ، فَقَالَ : نَاوِلْنِي ، فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الْإِنَاءَ الَّذِي فِيهِ فَضْلُ وَضُوئِهِ ، فَشَرِبَ مِنْ فَضْلِ وَضُوئِهِ قَائِمًا " . فَعَجِبْتُ ، فَلَمَّا رَآنِي ، قَالَ : لَا تَعْجَبْ ، فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ أَبَاكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ مِثْلَ مَا رَأَيْتَنِي صَنَعْتُ ، يَقُولُ : لِوُضُوئِهِ هَذَا وَشُرْبِ فَضْلِ وَضُوئِهِ قَائِمًا .
´Al-Husain bin 'Ali said:` "My father 'Ali called me to bring (water for) Wudu', so I brought it to him, and he started by washing his hands three times, before putting them into the water. Then he rinsed his mouth three times and sniffed water into his nose and blew it out three times. Then he washed his face three times, then his right hand up to the elbow three times, then his left likewise. Then he wiped his head once then he washed his right foot up to the ankle three times, then the left likewise. Then he stood up and said: 'Pass me the vessel.' So I passed the vessel containing the remaining water for his Wudu' to him, and he drank from it standing up. I was surprised and when he noticed that he said: 'Do not be surprised, for I saw your father the Prophet (ﷺ) doing,' referring to his Wudu' and drinking the leftover water while standing."
Hadith 117
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَمَالِكٍ ، وَابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ : رَأَيْتُكَ تَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ النِّعَالَ السِّبْتِيَّةَ وَتَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا ، قال : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَلْبَسُهَا وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا " .
´It was narrated that 'Ubaid bin Juraih said:` "I said to Ibn 'Umar: 'I see you are wearing Sibtiyyah sandals, [1] and you performed Wudu' in them.' He said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wearing then and performing Wudu' in them.'" [1] Made of hairless, tanned leather.
Hadith 183
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، قال : دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَحَدَّثَتْنِي ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصْبِحُ جُنُبًا مِنْ غَيْرِ احْتِلَامٍ ثُمَّ يَصُومُ " . وَحَدَّثَنَا مَعَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، أَنَّهَا حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّهَا " قَرَّبَتْ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَنْبًا مَشْوِيًّا فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " .
´It was narrated that Sulaiman bin Yasar said:` "I entered upon Umm Salamah and she told me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to wake up in a state of Janabah without having had a wet dream, then he would fast." And she told him that she brought the Prophet (ﷺ) some grilled ribs and he ate from that, then he got up and prayed, and did not perform Wudu'.
Hadith 184
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قال : شَهِدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَكَلَ خُبْزًا وَلَحْمًا ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ وَلَمْ يَتَوَضَّأْ " .
It was reported that Ibn 'Abbas said "I witnessed (that) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ate bread and meat, then stood for prayer and did not perform ablution. "
Hadith 232
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، ح وَأَنْبَأَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، وَابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا ، قالت : " كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ وَهُوَ قَدْرُ الْفَرَقِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "I used to perform Ghusl with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) from one vessel, which was the size of a Faraq."
Hadith 436
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قال : تَذَاكَرَ عَلِيٌّ ، وَالْمِقْدَادُ ، وَعَمَّارٌ ، فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ مَذَّاءٌ وَإِنِّي أَسْتَحِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِمَكَانِ ابْنَتِهِ مِنِّي فَيَسْأَلُهُ أَحَدُكُمَا ، فَذَكَرَ لِي أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمَا وَنَسِيتُهُ سَأَلَهُ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ذَاكَ الْمَذْيُ إِذَا وَجَدَهُ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَغْسِلْ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُ وَلْيَتَوَضَّأْ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ أَوْ كَوُضُوءِ الصَّلَاةِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "Ali, Al-Miqdad and 'Ammar were talking. 'Ali said: 'I am a man who emits a lot of Madhi but I am too shy to ask the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about that because of his daughter's position with me, so let one of you ask him.' He told me that one of them - but I forgot who - asked him, and the Prophet (ﷺ) said: 'That is Madhi. If any one of you notices that, let him wash it off himself and perform Wudu' as for prayer or similar to the Wudu' of prayer.'"
Hadith 465
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قال : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَيْسَ بَيْنَ الْعَبْدِ وَبَيْنَ الْكُفْرِ إِلَّا تَرْكُ الصَّلَاةِ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'There is nothing between a person and disbelief except abandoning Salah.'"
Hadith 532
أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ : أَيُّ حِينٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الْعَتَمَةَ إِمَامًا أَوْ خِلْوًا ؟ قال : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ ، يَقُولُ : أَعْتَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ بِالْعَتَمَةِ حَتَّى رَقَدَ النَّاسُ وَاسْتَيْقَظُوا وَرَقَدُوا وَاسْتَيْقَظُوا . فَقَامَ عُمَرُ ، فَقَالَ : الصَّلَاةَ الصَّلَاةَ ، قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : خَرَجَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ الْآنَ يَقْطُرُ رَأْسُهُ مَاءً وَاضِعًا يَدَهُ عَلَى شِقِّ رَأْسِهِ ، قَالَ : وَأَشَارَ ، فَاسْتَثْبَتُّ عَطَاءً كَيْفَ وَضَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ ، فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيَّ ، كَمَا أَشَارَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَبَدَّدَ لِي عَطَاءٌ بَيْنَ أَصَابِعِهِ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ تَبْدِيدٍ ثُمَّ وَضَعَهَا فَانْتَهَى أَطْرَافُ أَصَابِعِهِ إِلَى مُقَدَّمِ الرَّأْسِ ، ثُمَّ ضَمَّهَا يَمُرُّ بِهَا كَذَلِكَ عَلَى الرَّأْسِ حَتَّى مَسَّتْ إِبْهَامَاهُ طَرَفَ الْأُذُنِ مِمَّا يَلِي الْوَجْهَ ثُمَّ عَلَى الصُّدْغِ وَنَاحِيَةِ الْجَبِينِ لَا يُقَصِّرُ وَلَا يَبْطُشُ شَيْئًا إِلَّا كَذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي لَأَمَرْتُهُمْ أَنْ لَا يُصَلُّوهَا إِلَّا هَكَذَا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn Juraij said:` "I said to 'Ata': 'What is the best time you think I should pray Al-'Atamah, either in congregation or on my own?' He said: 'I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delayed Al-'Atamah one night until the people had slept and woken up, then slept and woken up again. Then 'Umar got up and said: 'The prayer, the prayer!'" 'Ata' said: 'Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out, and it is as if I can see him now, with water dripping from his head, putting his hand on the side of his head. [He said: "And he indicated (how)"].'" I checked with 'Ata' how the Prophet (ﷺ) put his hand on his head, and he showed me the same way as Ibn 'Abbas had done. 'Ata' spread his fingers a little, then placed them with the tips of his fingers on his forehead, then he drew his fingers together on his head until his thumb touched the edge of the ear that is next to the face, then moved it to his temple and forehead, then he said: 'Were it not that I would impose too much difficulty for my Ummah, I would have commanded them to offer this prayer only at this time.'"
Hadith 533
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْمَكِّيُّ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، وَعَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قال : أَخَّرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِشَاءَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَقَامَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَنَادَى : الصَّلَاةَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَقَدَ النِّسَاءُ وَالْوِلْدَانُ ، فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْمَاءُ يَقْطُرُ مِنْ رَأْسِهِ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّهُ الْوَقْتُ ، لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "The Prophet (ﷺ) delayed 'Isha' one night until part of the night had passed. Then 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, got up and called out: 'The prayer, O Messenger of Allah! The women and children have gone to sleep.' Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out with water dripping from his head, saying: 'This is (the best) time (for 'Isha'), were it not that this would be too difficult for my Ummah.'"
Hadith 537
أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، ح وأَخْبَرَنِي يُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي الْمُغِيرَةُ بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومِ ابْنَةِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، قالت : أَعْتَمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ حَتَّى ذَهَبَ عَامَّةُ اللَّيْلِ وَحَتَّى نَامَ أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى ، وَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَوَقْتُهَا ، لَوْلَا أَنْ أَشُقَّ عَلَى أُمَّتِي " .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah the Mother of the Believers said:` "The Prophet (ﷺ) delayed the prayer one night until most of the night had passed and the people in the Masjid had gone home to sleep, then he went out and prayed, and said: 'This is indeed its (prayer) time, were it not that I would impose too much difficulty on my Ummah.'"
Hadith 568
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ حَتَّى تَبْزُغَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ " .
´It was narrated from 'Ata' bin Yazid that he heard Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri say:` "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'There is no prayer after Fajr until the sun has clearly risen, and no prayer after 'Asr until the sun has fully set.'"
Hadith 604
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قال : " صَلَّيْتُ وَرَاءَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَمَانِيًا جَمِيعًا وَسَبْعًا جَمِيعًا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "I prayed behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) eight (Rak'ahs) together and seven (Rak'ahs) together."

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ حِينَ قَدِمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ يَجْتَمِعُونَ فَيَتَحَيَّنُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَلَيْسَ يُنَادِي بِهَا أَحَدٌ ، فَتَكَلَّمُوا يَوْمًا فِي ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ : اتَّخِذُوا نَاقُوسًا مِثْلَ نَاقُوسِ النَّصَارَى ، وَقَالَ بَعْضَهُمْ : بَلْ قَرْنًا مِثْلَ قَرْنِ الْيَهُودِ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : أَوَلَا تَبْعَثُونَ رَجُلًا يُنَادِي بِالصَّلَاةِ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا بِلَالُ ، قُمْ فَنَادِ بِالصَّلَاةِ " .
´Nafi' narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Umar used to say:` "When the Muslims arrived in Al-Madinah they used to gather and try to figure out the time for prayer, and no one gave the call to prayer. One day they spoke about that; some of them said: 'Let us use a bell like the Christians do;' others said, 'No, a horn like the Jews have.' 'Umar, may ,Allah be pleased with him, said: 'Why don't you send a man to announce the time of prayer?' The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said: 'O Bilal, get up and give the call to prayer.'"
Hadith 633
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مُحَيْرِيزٍ ، أَخْبَرَهُ وَكَانَ يَتِيمًا فِي حِجْرِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ حَتَّى جَهَّزَهُ إِلَى الشَّامِ ، قال : قُلْتُ لِأَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ : إِنِّي خَارِجٌ إِلَى الشَّامِ وَأَخْشَى أَنْ أُسْأَلَ عَنْ تَأْذِينِكَ ، فَأَخْبَرَنِي أَنَّ أَبَا مَحْذُورَةَ ، قال لَهُ : خَرَجْتُ فِي نَفَرٍ فَكُنَّا بِبَعْضِ طَرِيقِ حُنَيْنٍ مَقْفَلَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ حُنَيْنٍ ، فَلَقِيَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ الطَّرِيقِ ، فَأَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالصَّلَاةِ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمِعْنَا صَوْتَ الْمُؤَذِّنِ وَنَحْنُ عَنْهُ مُتَنَكِّبُونَ فَظَلِلْنَا نَحْكِيهِ وَنَهْزَأُ بِهِ ، فَسَمِعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّوْتَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا حَتَّى وَقَفْنَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَيُّكُمُ الَّذِي سَمِعْتُ صَوْتَهُ قَدِ ارْتَفَعَ ؟ " فَأَشَارَ الْقَوْمُ إِلَيَّ وَصَدَقُوا ، فَأَرْسَلَهُمْ كُلَّهُمْ وَحَبَسَنِي ، فَقَالَ : " قُمْ فَأَذِّنْ بِالصَّلَاةِ " ، فَقُمْتُ ، فَأَلْقَى عَلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ التَّأْذِينَ هُوَ بِنَفْسِهِ ، قَالَ : " قُلْ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : ارْجِعْ فَامْدُدْ صَوْتَكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : قُلْ : أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " ، ثُمَّ دَعَانِي حِينَ قَضَيْتُ التَّأْذِينَ ، فَأَعْطَانِي صُرَّةً فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مُرْنِي بِالتَّأْذِينِ بِمَكَّةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَمَرْتُكَ بِهِ ، فَقَدِمْتُ عَلَى عَتَّابِ بْنِ أَسِيدٍ عَامِلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ فَأَذَّنْتُ مَعَهُ بِالصَّلَاةِ عَنْ أَمْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
´'Abdul-'Aziz bin 'Abdul-Malik bin Abu Mahdhurah narrated that 'Abdullah bin Muhairiz - who was an orphan under the care of Abu Mahdhurah until he prepared him to go to Ash-Sham - informed him:` he said: "I said to Abu Mahdhurah: 'I am going to Ash-Sham and I am afraid that I will be asked about how you say the Adhan. "'He told me that Abu Mahdhurah said to him, I went out with a group of people and we were somewhere on the road to Hunain when the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) was coming back from Hunain. The Messenger of Allah met us somewhere on the road and the Muadhdhin of the Messenger of Allah called the Adhan for prayer in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W). We heard the voice of the Muadh'dhin and we were careless about it (the Adhan), so we started yelling, immitating and mocking it. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) heard us, so he sent some people who brought us to stand in front of him. He said, 'Who is the one whose voice I heard so loud?' The people all pointed to me, and they were telling the truth. He sent them all away, but kept me there and said to me: 'Stand up and call the Adhan for the Prayer.' I stood up and the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) taught me the Adhan himself. He Said, 'Say: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah (Allah is the Greatest,Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah,I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah).' Then he said: 'Then repeat and say in a loud voice:Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah; Hayya 'alas-salah, Hayya 'ala-salah; Hayya 'alal-falah Hayya 'alal-falah; Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; La ilaha ill-Allah (I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to prosperity, come to prosperity; Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; there is none worthy of worship except Allah).' Then he called me when I had finished saying the Adhan, and he gave me a bundle in which there was some silver. I said: 'O Messenger of Allah (S.A.W), let me be the one doing the Adhan in Makkah.' He said: 'I command you to do so.' Then I came to 'Attab bin Asid who was the governor of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) in Makkah, and I called the Adhan for prayer with him upon the orders of the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W)."
Hadith 634
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي وَأُمُّ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ، قال : لَمَّا خَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ حُنَيْنٍ ، خَرَجْتُ عَاشِرَ عَشْرَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ نَطْلُبُهُمْ ، فَسَمِعْنَاهُمْ يُؤَذِّنُونَ بِالصَّلَاةِ ، فَقُمْنَا نُؤَذِّنُ نَسْتَهْزِئُ بِهِمْ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " قَدْ سَمِعْتُ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ تَأْذِينَ إِنْسَانٍ حَسَنِ الصَّوْتِ " ، فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْنَا ، فَأَذَّنَّا رَجُلٌ رَجُلٌ وَكُنْتُ آخِرَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ حِينَ أَذَّنْتُ : " تَعَالَ ، " ، فَأَجْلَسَنِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَمَسَحَ عَلَى نَاصِيَتِي وَبَرَّكَ عَلَيَّ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " اذْهَبْ فَأَذِّنْ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ الْحَرَامِ " ، قُلْتُ : كَيْفَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ فَعَلَّمَنِي كَمَا تُؤَذِّنُونَ الْآنَ بِهَا " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ ، الصَّلَاةُ خَيْرٌ مِنَ النَّوْمِ فِي الْأُولَى مِنَ الصُّبْحِ ، قَالَ : وَعَلَّمَنِي الْإِقَامَةَ مَرَّتَيْنِ : اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، أَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، قَدْ قَامَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ " . قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُثْمَانُ هَذَا الْخَبَرَ كُلَّهُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَعَنْ أُمِّ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ ، أَنَّهُمَا سَمِعَا ذَلِكَ مِنْ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ .
´It was narrated that Abu Mahdhurah said:` "When the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) left Hunain, I was the tenth of a group of ten of the people of Makkah who were trying to catch up with them. We heard them calling the Adhan for the prayer and we started to repeat the Adhan, mocking them. The Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) said, 'I heard among these people the Adhan of one who has a beautiful voice.' He sent for us, and we recited the Adhan one by one, and I was the last of them. When I said the Adhan, he said: 'Come here.' He sat me down in front of him and rubbed my forelock and blessed me three times, then he said, 'Go and give the Adhan at the sacred House.' I said: 'How, O Messenger of Allah?' He taught me as you say the Adhan now: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar; Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah; Hayya 'alas-salah, Hayya 'ala-salah; Hayya 'alal-falah Hayya 'alal-falah; as-salatu khairun min an-nawm;as-salatu khairun min an-nawm; (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger Allah; I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to prosperity, come to prosperity; prayer is better than sleep, prayer is better than sleep)' - in the first (Adhan) for As-Subh (Fajr). And he taught me the Iqamah saying each phrase twice: 'Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, (Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar), Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah, Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah; Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah, Ashhadu anna Muhammadan Rasulallah; Hayya 'alas-salah, Hayya 'alas-salah; Hayya 'alal-falah, Hayya 'alal-falah; qad qamatis-salah, qad qamati-salah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar La ilaha illallah (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest, (Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest); I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah ; I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; Come to prayer, come to prayer; come to prosperity, come to prosperity; the prayer is about to begin, the prayer is about to begin, Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest; there is none worthy of worship except Allah)." (One of the narrators) Ibn Juraij said: ''Uthman narrated this whole report to me from his father and from Umm 'Abdul-Malik bin Abi Mahdhurah, and (said that) they heard that from Abu Mahdhurah.
Hadith 678
أَخْبَرَنَا مُجَاهِدُ بْنُ مُوسَى وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمِقْسَمِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَنَّ عِيسَى بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ ، قال : إِنِّي عِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ إِذْ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُهُ ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ كَمَا قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ ، حَتَّى إِذَا قَالَ : " حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، قَالَ : لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ، فَلَمَّا قَالَ : حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ ، قَالَ : لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ ، وَقَالَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مَا قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ .
´It was narrated that 'Alqamah bin Waqqas said:` "I was with Mu'awiyah when the Mu'adhdhin called the Adhan. Muawiyah said what the Mu'adhdhin said, but when he said: 'Hayya 'alas-salah (come to prayer),' he said: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa Billah (There is no power and no strength except with Allah);' and when he said: 'Hayya 'alal-falah (come to prosperity),' he said: 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa Billah (There is no power and no strength except with Allah).' After that he said what the Mu'adhdhin said, then he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W) saying exactly like that.'"
Hadith 708
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءٌ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قال : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةِ ، قَالَ أَوَّلَ يَوْمٍ : الثُّومِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : الثُّومِ وَالْبَصَلِ وَالْكُرَّاثِ ، فَلَا يَقْرَبْنَا فِي مَسَاجِدِنَا ، فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ تَتَأَذَّى مِمَّا يَتَأَذَّى مِنْهُ الْإِنْسُ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever eats of this plant' - the first time he said 'garlic' then he said, 'garlic, onions and leeks' [1] - 'let him not approach us in our Masjids, for the angels are offended by that which offends mankinds.'" [1] In Fath, Al-Bari, Ibn Hajar is of the opinion that it was Ibn Juraij who was talking, explaining that 'Ata' - who reported it from Jabir - narrated it both ways.
Hadith 754
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ عَبَّاسِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ ، قال : " زَارَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَبَّاسًا فِي بَادِيَةٍ لَنَا وَلَنَا كُلَيْبَةٌ وَحِمَارَةٌ تَرْعَى ، فَصَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَصْرَ وَهُمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَلَمْ يُزْجَرَا وَلَمْ يُؤَخَّرَا " .
´It was narrated that Al-Fadl bin 'Abbas said:` "The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ)visited Al Abbas in some land of ours outside the city, and we had a small dog and a donkey which was grazing. The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) prayed Asr and they were in front of him, and they were not shooed away or pushed away."
Hadith 759
أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ ، قال : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " طَافَ بِالْبَيْتِ سَبْعًا ثُمَّ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ بِحِذَائِهِ فِي حَاشِيَةِ الْمَقَامِ وَلَيْسَ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الطُّوَّافِ أَحَدٌ " .
´Narrated Kathir bin Kathir:` It was narrated from Kathir bin Kathir, from his father, that his grandfather said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) circumambulate the House seven times, then he prayed two Rak'ahs at the edge of the Maqam, and there was nothing between him and the people who were performing Tawaf."
Hadith 777
أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَشُعَيْبُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " صَلَّى يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَوَضَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ " .
It was narrated from Abdullah bin As Saib that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) prayed on the day of Conquest (of Makkah), and he put his sandals to his left.
Hadith 805
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال : قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ ، أَنَّ قَزَعَةَ مَوْلًى لِعَبْدِ قَيْسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِكْرِمَةَ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : " صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَائِشَةُ خَلْفَنَا تُصَلِّي مَعَنَا وَأَنَا إِلَى جَنْبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُصَلِّي مَعَهُ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "I prayed beside the Prophet (ﷺ) and Ayesha was behind us praying with us, and I was beside the Prophet (ﷺ) praying with him."
Hadith 842
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قال ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ ، أَنَّ قَزَعَةَ مَوْلًى لِعَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عِكْرِمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : " صَلَّيْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَائِشَةُ خَلْفَنَا تُصَلِّي مَعَنَا وَأَنَا إِلَى جَنْبِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُصَلِّي مَعَهُ " .
´Ibn 'Abbas said:` "I prayed beside the Prophet (ﷺ) and Aisha was behind us praying with us, and I was beside the Prophet (ﷺ) praying with him."
Hadith 863
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ مَنْبُوذٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، قال : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَنِي عَبْدِ الْأَشْهَلِ فَيَتَحَدَّثُ عِنْدَهُمْ حَتَّى يَنْحَدِرَ لِلْمَغْرِبِ قَالَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ فَبَيْنَمَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسْرِعُ إِلَى الْمَغْرِبِ مَرَرْنَا بِالْبَقِيعِ فَقَالَ : " أُفٍّ لَكَ أُفٍّ لَكَ " قَالَ : فَكَبُرَ ذَلِكَ فِي ذَرْعِي فَاسْتَأْخَرْتُ وَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ يُرِيدُنِي فَقَالَ : " مَا لَكَ امْشِ " فَقُلْتُ : أَحْدَثْتَ حَدَثًا قَالَ : مَا ذَاكَ قُلْتُ : أَفَّفْتَ بِي قَالَ : لَا وَلَكِنْ هَذَا فُلَانٌ بَعَثْتُهُ سَاعِيًا عَلَى بَنِي فُلَانٍ فَغَلَّ نَمِرَةً فَدُرِّعَ الْآنَ مِثْلُهَا مِنْ نَارٍ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Rafi said:` "After the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had prayed Asr, he would go to Banu 'Abdul-Ashhal to speak to them, until the time for Maghrib came." Abu Rafi said: "While the Prophet (ﷺ) was hastening to pray Maghrib, we passed by and he said: 'Fie on you, fie on you!' That upset me so I slowed down because I thought hat he meant me. He said: 'What is the matter with you? Keep up!' I said: 'Is there something wrong?' He said: 'Why are you asking that? I said: 'Because you said: "Fie on you" to me.' He said: 'No, that was so-and-so whom I had sent to collect Zakat from the tribe of so-and-so, and he stole a Namirah and now he is clothed with something similar made of Fire."'
Hadith 864
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي مَنْبُوذٌ رَجُلٌ مِنْ آلِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ نَحْوَهُ " .

Hadith 971
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قال : " فِي كُلِّ صَلَاةٍ قِرَاءَةٌ فَمَا أَسْمَعَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْمَعْنَاكُمْ وَمَا أَخْفَاهَا أَخْفَيْنَا مِنْكُمْ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "In every prayer there is recitation. What the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) made us hear (by reciting out loud) we make you hear, and what he hid from us (by reciting silently) we hide from you."
Hadith 991
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ مَرْوَانَ بْنَ الْحَكَمِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ ثَابِتٍ ، قال : " مَا لِي أَرَاكَ تَقْرَأُ فِي الْمَغْرِبِ بِقِصَارِ السُّوَرِ وَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرَأُ فِيهَا بِأَطْوَلِ الطُّولَيَيْنِ ، قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : مَا أَطْوَلُ الطُّولَيَيْنِ قَالَ الْأَعْرَافُ " .
´Marwan bin Al-Hakam narrated that:` Zaid bin Thabit said: "Why do I see you reciting short surahs in Maghrib when I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) reciting the longer of the two long surahs in it?" I said: "O Abu Abdullah, what is the longer of the two long surahs?" He said: "Al-A'raf."
Hadith 1008
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ حَدِيثًا رَفَعَهُ إِلَى ابْنِ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، قال : " حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ فَصَلَّى فِي قُبُلِ الْكَعْبَةِ فَخَلَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ فَوَضَعَهُمَا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ فَافْتَتَحَ بِسُورَةِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فَلَمَّا جَاءَ ذِكْرُ مُوسَى أَوْ عِيسَى عَلَيْهِمَا السَّلَام أَخَذَتْهُ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ " .
´It was narrated that Abdullah bin As-Sa'ib said:` "I was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on the day of the Conquest (of Makkah). He prayed in front of the Ka'bah. He took off his shoes and placed them to his left, and he started to recite Surat Al-Mu'minun. When he reached the passage that mentions Musa and 'Eisa, peace be upon them both, he started coughing, then he bowed."
Hadith 1097
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ ، وَيُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، وَالْحَارِثُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ وَأَنَا أَسْمَعُ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ وَهْبٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعَةٍ لَا أَكُفَّ الشَّعْرَ وَلَا الثِّيَابَ الْجَبْهَةِ وَالْأَنْفِ وَالْيَدَيْنِ وَالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that :` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "I have been commanded to prostrate on seven, and not to tuck up my hair nor my garment: the forehead, the nose, the hands, the knees and the feet."
Hadith 1132
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ الْمِقْسَمِيُّ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قالت : فَقَدْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ ذَهَبَ إِلَى بَعْضِ نِسَائِهِ فَتَحَسَّسْتُهُ فَإِذَا هُوَ رَاكِعٌ أَوْ سَاجِدٌ يَقُولُ : " سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ " فَقَالَتْ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي إِنِّي لَفِي شَأْنٍ وَإِنَّكَ لَفِي آخَرَ .
´It was narrated that 'Aishah said:` "I noticed that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was missing one night, and I thought he had gone to one of his other wives. I tried to feel for him, and I found him bowing or prostrating and saying: 'SubhanakAllahumma wa bihamdika la ilaha ila ant (Glory and praise be to You, O Allah, there is none worthy of worship but You.)'" She said: "May my father and mother be ransomed for you. I thought you were doing one thing and you were doing something else altogether."
Hadith 1249
أَخْبَرَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُسَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ شَكَّ فِي صَلَاتِهِ , فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ مَا يُسَلِّمُ " .
´It was narrated that Abdullah bin Ja'far said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever has doubt during his prayer, let him prostrate twice after he has said the taslim'".
Hadith 1250
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ شَكَّ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ التَّسْلِيمِ " .
´It was narrated 'Abdullah bin Ja'far that :` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever has doubt during his prayer, let him prostrate twice after he said the taslim."
Hadith 1251
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُسَافِعٍ , أَنَّ مُصْعَبَ بْنَ شَيْبَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ شَكَّ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ مَا يُسَلِّمُ " .
´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Ja'far that :` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever has doubt during his prayer, let him prostrate twice after he said the taslim."
Hadith 1252
أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ , وَرَوْحٌ هُوَ ابْنُ عُبَادَةَ , عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُسَافِعٍ , أَنَّ مُصْعَبَ بْنَ شَيْبَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : قَالَ : " مَنْ شَكَّ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ " , قَالَ حَجَّاجٌ : بَعْدَ مَا يُسَلِّمُ , وَقَالَ رَوْحٌ : وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ .
´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Ja'far that:` The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever has doubt during his prayer, let him prostrate twice." (One of the narrators) Hajjaj said: "After he has said the taslim." (Another of them) Rawh said: "While he is sitting."
Hadith 1271
أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَزَّانُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، قَالَ : ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ , أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كَانَ " يُشِيرُ بِأُصْبُعِهِ إِذَا دَعَا وَلَا يُحَرِّكُهَا " , قَالَ : ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ , وَزَادَ عَمْرٌو , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَامِرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ " رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدْعُو كَذَلِكَ , وَيَتَحَامَلُ بِيَدِهِ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى رِجْلِهِ الْيُسْرَى " .
´It was narrated from Abdullah bin Az-Zubair:` That the Prophet (ﷺ) used to point with his finger when he supplicated, but he did not move it. Ibn Jurayj said: "And 'Amr added: 'Amir bin 'Abdullah bin Az-Zubair told me that his father saw the Prophet (ﷺ) supplicating like that, putting his weight on his left arm, leaning on his left leg.'"
Hadith 1321
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ ، قَالَ : ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ : أَنْبَأَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ حَبَّانَ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ وَاسِعِ بْنِ حَبَّانَ , أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كُلَّمَا وَضَعَ , اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كُلَّمَا رَفَعَ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ , السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ " .
´It was narrated from Wasi' bin Habban that:` He asked 'Abdullah bin 'Umar about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). He said: "Allahu Akbar" every time he went down and "Allahu Akbar" every time he came up, then he said: "As-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah) to his right and: As-salamu 'alaykum wa rahmatullah (peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah) to his left."
Hadith 1397
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ سَوَّادِ بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قال : أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَطَبَ يَسْتَنِدُ إِلَى جِذْعِ نَخْلَةٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَلَمَّا صُنِعَ الْمِنْبَرُ وَاسْتَوَى عَلَيْهِ , اضْطَرَبَتْ تِلْكَ السَّارِيَةُ كَحَنِينِ النَّاقَةِ حَتَّى سَمِعَهَا أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ ، حَتَّى نَزَلَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاعْتَنَقَهَا فَسَكَتَتْ " .
´Jabir bin 'Abdullah said:` "When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivered the khutbah, he used to lean against a palm tree trunk that formed one of the pillars of the Masjid. When the Minbar was made and he sat down on it, that pillar made a sound like the groaning of a camel, which the people of the Masjid heard, until the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came down and embraced it, then it fell silent."
Hadith 1401
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ ، وَيُوسُفُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ ، قال : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، يَقُولُ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : " أَرَكَعْتَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ " , قَالَ : لَا ، قَالَ : " فَارْكَعْ " .
´'Amr bin Dinar narrated that:` He heard Jabir bin 'Abdullah say: "A man came when the Prophet (ﷺ) was on the minbar on a Friday. He said to him: 'Have you prayed two rak'ahs?' He said: 'No.' He said: 'Pray.'"
