Hadith 724
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مِنْ فِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " الْمُؤَذِّنُ يُغْفَرُ لَهُ مَدَ صَوْتِهِ ، وَيَسْتَغْفِرُ لَهُ كُلُّ رَطْبٍ وَيَابِسٍ ، وَشَاهِدُ الصَّلَاةِ يُكْتَبُ لَهُ خَمْسٌ وَعِشْرُونَ حَسَنَةً ، وَيُكَفَّرُ عَنْهُ مَا بَيْنَهُمَا " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` "I heard the Messenger of Allah himself say: 'The Mu'adh-dhin's sins will be forgiven as far as his voice reaches, and every wet and dry thing will pray for forgiveness for him. For the one who attends the prayer, twenty-five Hasanat (good deeds) will be recorded, and it is will be expiation (for sins committed) between them (the two prayers).'"
Hadith 777
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْهَجَرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَلْقَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ غَدًا مُسْلِمًا فَلْيُحَافِظْ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسِ ، حَيْثُ يُنَادَى بِهِنَّ فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنْ سُنَنِ الْهُدَى ، وَإِنَّ اللَّهَ شَرَعَ لِنَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُنَنَ الْهُدَى ، وَلَعَمْرِي لَوْ أَنَّ كُلَّكُمْ صَلَّى فِي بَيْتِهِ لَتَرَكْتُمْ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ ، وَلَوْ تَرَكْتُمْ سُنَّةَ نَبِيِّكُمْ لَضَلَلْتُمْ ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَمَا يَتَخَلَّفُ عَنْهَا إِلَّا مُنَافِقٌ مَعْلُومُ النِّفَاقِ ، وَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ الرَّجُلَ يُهَادَى بَيْنَ الرَّجُلَيْنِ حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ فِي الصَّفِّ ، وَمَا مِنْ رَجُلٍ يَتَطَهَّرُ فَيُحْسِنُ الطُّهُورَ فَيَعْمِدُ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَيُصَلِّي فِيهِ ، فَمَا يَخْطُو خَطْوَةً إِلَّا رَفَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً " .
´It was narrated that 'Abdullah said:` "Whoever would like to meet Allah tomorrow (i.e. on the Day of Judgment) as a Muslim, let him preserve these five (daily) prayer when the call for them is given, for they are part of the ways of guidance, and Allah prescribed the ways of guidance to your Prophet. By Allah, if each of you prays in his house, you will have abandoned the Sunnah of your Prophet, and if you abandon the Sunnah of your Prophet you will go astray. I remember when no one stayed behind from the prayer except a hypocrite who was known for his hypocrisy. I have a man coming supported by two others, until he joined the row (of worshippers). There is no man who purifies himself and does it well, and comes to the mosque and prays there, but for every step that he takes, Allah raises him in status one degree thereby, and takes away one of his sins."
Hadith 793
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَيَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ، أَنْبَأَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَنْ سَمِعَ النِّدَاءَ فَلَمْ يَأْتِهِ ، فَلَا صَلَاةَ لَهُ إِلَّا مِنْ عُذْرٍ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:` The Prophet said: "Whoever hears the call and does not come, his prayer is not valid, except for those who have an excuse."
Hadith 807
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْعَنَزِيِّ ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ دَخَلَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ قَالَ : " اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيرًا ثَلَاثًا ، الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيرًا ثَلَاثًا ، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتِ ، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَّجِيمِ ، مِنْ هَمْزِهِ وَنَفْخِهِ وَنَفْثِهِ " ، قَالَ عَمْرٌو : هَمْزُهُ الْمُوتَةُ ، وَنَفْثُهُ الشِّعْرُ ، وَنَفْخُهُ الْكِبْرُ .
´It was narrated from Ibn Jubair bin Mut’im that his father said:` “I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he started the prayer. He said: ‘Allahu Akbaru kabiran, Allahu Akbaru kabiran (Allah is the Most Great indeed),’ three times; ‘Al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran, al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran (Much praise is to Allah),’ three times; ‘Subhan Allahi bukratan wa asilan (Glory is to Allah morning and evening),’ three times; ‘Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minash-Shaitanir-rajim, min hamzihi wa nafkhihi wa nafthihi (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his madness, his poetry, and his pride).”
Hadith 843
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الْفَقِيرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ خَلْفَ الْإِمَامِ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الْأُولَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ ، وَفِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " .
´It was narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:` “We used to recite the Opening of the Book and a Surah behind the Imam in the first two Rak’ah of the Zuhr and the ‘Asr, and in the last wo Rak’ah (we would recite) the Opening of the Book.”
Hadith 904
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ الْحَكَمِ ، قَال : سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، قَالَ : لَقِيَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عُجْرَة ، فَقَالَ : أَلَا أُهْدِي لَكَ هَدِيَّةً ؟ خَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْنَا : قَدْ عَرَفْنَا السَّلَامَ عَلَيْكَ ، فَكَيْفَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ : " قُولُوا : اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ " .
´It was narrated that Hakam said:` “I heard Ibn Abi Laila say: ‘Ka’b bin ‘Ujrah met me and said: “Shall I not give you a gift? The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came out to us and we said: ‘We know what it means to send greetings on you, but what does it mean to send peace and blessings upon you?’ He said: ‘Say: Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin, kama sallayta ‘ala Ibrahima, innaka Hamidun Majid; Allahumma barik ‘ala Muhammadin wa ‘ala ali Muhammadin, kama barakta ‘ala Ibrahima, innaka Hamidun Majid (O Allah, send your grace, honour and mercy upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your grace, honour and mercy upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious. O Allah, send Your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your blessings upon Ibrahim, You are indeed Praiseworthy, Most Glorious).’”
Hadith 907
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ أَبُو بِشْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يُصَلِّي عَلَيَّ إِلَّا صَلَّتْ عَلَيْهِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ مَا صَلَّى عَلَيَّ ، فَلْيُقِلَّ الْعَبْدُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، أَوْ لِيُكْثِرْ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Asim bin ‘Ubaidullah said:` “I heard ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah narrating from his father that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “There is no Muslim who sends peace and blessings upon me, but the angels will send peace and blessings upon him as long as he sends peace and blessings upon me. So let a person do a little of that or a lot.”
Hadith 925
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِذَا صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ حِينَ يُسَلِّمُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا ، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا ، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا " .
´It was narrated from Umm Salamah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) performed the Subh (morning prayer), while he said the Salam, he would say:` ‘Allahumma inni as’aluka ‘ilman nafi’an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa ‘amalan mutaqabbalan (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision and acceptable deeds).’”
Hadith 949
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ : الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ ، وَالْمَرْأَةُ الْحَائِضُ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The prayer is severed by a black dog and a woman who has reached the age of menstruation.”
Hadith 952
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَقْطَعُ الصَّلَاةَ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَ يَدَيِ الرَّجُلِ مِثْلُ مُؤَخِّرَةِ الرَّحْلِ : الْمَرْأَةُ ، وَالْحِمَارُ ، وَالْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ " ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : مَا بَالُ الْأَسْوَدِ مِنَ الْأَحْمَرِ ؟ فقَالَ : سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَمَا سَأَلْتَنِي فَقَالَ : " الْكَلْبُ الْأَسْوَدُ شَيْطَانٌ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Samit from Abu Dharr, that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The prayer is severed by a woman, a donkey, and a black dog, if there is not something like the handle of a saddle in front of a man.” I (‘Abdullah) said: “What is wrong with a black dog and not a red one?” He (Abu Dharr) said: ‘I asked the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) the same question, and he said: “The black dog is a Shaitan (satan).”
Hadith 975
حَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِامْرَأَةٍ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَبِي ، فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَصَلَّتِ الْمَرْأَةُ خَلْفَنَا " .
´It was narrated that Anas said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led a woman of his household and myself in prayer. I stood to his right and the woman stood behind us.”
Hadith 980
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ رَجَاءٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَوْسَ بْنَ ضَمْعَجٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مَسْعُود ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَؤُمُّ الْقَوْمَ أَقْرَؤُهُمْ لِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَتُهُمْ سَوَاءً ، فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَقْدَمُهُمْ هِجْرَةً ، فَإِنْ كَانَتِ الْهِجْرَةُ سَوَاءً ، فَلْيَؤُمَّهُمْ أَكْبَرُهُمْ سِنًّا ، وَلَا يُؤَمَّ الرَّجُلُ فِي أَهْلِهِ ، وَلَا فِي سُلْطَانِهِ ، وَلَا يُجْلَسْ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ إِلَّا بِإِذْنٍ أَوْ بِإِذْنِهِ " .
´Abu Mas’ud said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The people should be lead by the one who is most well-Versed in recitation of the Book of Allah. If they are equal in recitation, then they should be led by the one who emigrated first. If they are equal in emigration, then they should be led by the eldest. A man should not be led among his family or in his place of authority; no one should be sat in his place of honor in his house without permission, or without his permission.’”
Hadith 988
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَ عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي الْعَاصِ ، أَنَّ آخِرَ مَا قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أَمَمْتَ قَوْمًا فَأَخِفَّ بِهِمْ " .
´‘Uthman bin Abul-‘As narrated that the last thing the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) enjoined on him was that he said:` “When you lead people, keep it short for them.”
Hadith 993
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، وَبِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، فَإِنَّ تَسْوِيَةَ الصُّفُوفِ مِنْ تَمَامِ الصَّلَاةِ " .
´It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Make your rows straight, for straightening the rows is part of completing the prayer.’”
Hadith 994
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ النُّعْمَانَ بْنَ بَشِيرٍ ، يَقُولُ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسَوِّي الصَّفَّ حَتَّى يَجْعَلَهُ مِثْلَ الرُّمْحِ أَوِ الْقِدْحِ ، قَالَ : فَرَأَى صَدْرَ رَجُلٍ نَاتِئًا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَوُّوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، أَوْ لَيُخَالِفَنَّ اللَّهُ بَيْنَ وُجُوهِكُمْ " .
´Simak bin Harb narrated that he heard Nu’man bin Bashir say:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to straighten the rows until he made them like a spear or an arrow-shaft. Once he saw a man’s chest (sticking out) so the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Make your rows straight or Allah will create division among you.’”
Hadith 997
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ طَلْحَةَ بْنَ مُصَرِّفٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْسَجَةَ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلَائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِ الْأَوَّلِ " .
´Bara’ bin ‘Azib said:` “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Allah and the angels send blessings upon the first row.’”
Hadith 998
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ثَوْرٍ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قَطَنٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ خِلَاسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِي الصَّفِّ الْأَوَّلِ ، لَكَانَتْ قُرْعَةٌ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘If they knew what (goodness) there is in the first row, they would cast lots for it.’”
Hadith 1037
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي أَوْسٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ جَدِّي أَوْسٌ أَحْيَانًا يُصَلِّي ، فَيُشِيرُ إِلَيَّ وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَأُعْطِيهِ نَعْلَيْهِ وَيَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn Abu Aws said:` “My grandfather, Aws, used to perform prayer, and sometimes he would make a gesture while praying, and I would give him his sandals. He said: ‘I saw the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performing prayer in his sandals.’”
Hadith 1042
حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُخَوَّلُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَعْدٍ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ يَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ أَبَا رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي وَقَدْ عَقَصَ شَعْرَهُ ، فَأَطْلَقَهُ ، أَوْ نَهَى عَنْهُ ، وَقَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ الرَّجُلُ وَهُوَ عَاقِصٌ شَعَرَهُ " .
´Mukhawwal said:` “I heard Abu Sa’d, a man from the people of Madinah, say: ‘I saw Abu Rafi’, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), when he saw Hasan bin ‘Ali performing prayer, with his hair braided. He undid it, or told him not to do that, and said: “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade a man from performing prayer with his hair braided.”
Hadith 1105
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ سَمُرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ قَائِمًا ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً ثُمَّ يَقُومُ " .
´It was narrated that Simak bin Harb said:` “I heard Jabir bin Samurah say: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to deliver the sermon standing, but he used to sit down briefly, then stand up.’”
Hadith 1158
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَزَيْدُ بْنُ أَخْزَمَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْكُوفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا فَاتَتْهُ الْأَرْبَعُ قَبْلَ الظُّهْرِ ، صَلَّاهَا بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : لَمْ يُحَدِّثْ بِهِ إِلَّا قَيْسٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ .
´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “If the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) missed the four Rak’ah before the Zuhr, he would perform them after the two Rak’ah which come after the Zuhr.”
Hadith 1163
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَلِيَّ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ جُدْعَانَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنْ كَانَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ لَيُؤَذِّنُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَيُرَى أَنَّهَا الْإِقَامَةُ مِنْ كَثْرَةِ مَنْ يَقُومُ فَيُصَلِّي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ قَبْلَ الْمَغْرِبِ " .
´‘Ali bin Zaid bin Jud’an said:` “I heard Anas bin Malik say: ‘The Mu ’adh-dhin would call the Adhan during the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and one would think that it was the Iqamah because there were so many people who stood and performed the two Rak’ah before the Maghrib.”
Hadith 1186
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ ضَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ، قَالَ : " مِنْ كُلِّ اللَّيْلِ قَدْ أَوْتَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَوَّلِهِ ، وَأَوْسَطِهِ ، وَانْتَهَى وِتْرُهُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ali said:` “At every part of the night the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed Witr, at the beginning and in the middle, and finally his Witr was just before dawn.”
Hadith 1193
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي فِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ لَا يَزِيدُ عَلَيْهِمَا ، وَكَانَ يَتَهَجَّدُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، قُلْتُ : وَكَانَ يُوتِرُ ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
´It was narrated from Salim that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to pray two Rak’ah while traveling, and he did not do more than that. And he used to pray Tahajjud at night.” I asked: “Did he pray Witr?” He said: “Yes.”
Hadith 1199
حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُهَيْلُ بْنُ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ اضْطَجَعَ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “When the Messenger of Allah (saw prayed the two (Sunnah) Rak’ah of Fajr, he would lie down.”
Hadith 1205
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الظُّهْرَ خَمْسًا ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : أَزِيدَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ فَقِيلَ لَهُ : فَثَنَى رِجْلَهُ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said:` “(Once) the Prophet (ﷺ) prayed Zuhr with five Rak’ah, and it was said to him: ‘Has something been added to the prayer?’ He said: ‘What is that?’ They told him, and he turned back towards the Qiblah and performed two prostrations.”
Hadith 1211
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، قَالَ شُعْبَةُ : كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ وَقَرَأْتُهُ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةً لَا يَدْرِي أَزَادَ أَوْ نَقَصَ ، فَسَأَلَ ، فَحَدَّثْنَاهُ ، فَثَنَى رِجْلَهُ وَاسْتَقْبَلَ الْقِبْلَةَ ، وَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " لَوْ حَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شَيْءٌ لَأَنْبَأْتُكُمُوهُ ، وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ ، فَإِذَا نَسِيتُ فَذَكِّرُونِي ، وَأَيُّكُمْ مَا شَكَّ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَلْيَتَحَرَّ أَقْرَبَ ذَلِكَ مِنَ الصَّوَابِ ، فَيُتِمَّ عَلَيْهِ ، وَيُسَلِّمَ ، وَيَسْجُدَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) offered prayer, and I am not sure whether he did something extra or omitted something. He asked, and we told him, so he turned to face the Qiblah and prostrated twice, then he said the Salam. Then he turned to face us and said: ‘If any new command has been revealed concerning the prayer, I would certainly have told you. But I am only human and I forget and you forget. If I forget, then remind me. And if anyone of you is uncertain about the prayer, let him do what is closest to what is correct, then complete the prayer, say the Salam and prostrate twice.”
Hadith 1250
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : شَهِدَ عِنْدِي رِجَالٌ مَرْضِيُّونَ ، فِيهِمْ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ، وَأَرْضَاهُمْ عِنْدِي عُمَرُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “Good men among whom was ‘Umar bin Khattab, and the best of them in my view is ‘Umar, testified before me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘There is no prayer after Fajr until the sun has risen, and there is no prayer after the ‘Asr until the sun has set.’”
Hadith 1251
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ طَلْقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْبَيْلَمَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : هَلْ مِنْ سَاعَةٍ أَحَبُّ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ أُخْرَى ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوْسَطُ ، فَصَلِّ مَا بَدَا لَكَ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الصُّبْحُ ، ثُمَّ انْتَهِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ ، وَمَا دَامَتْ كَأَنَّهَا حَجَفَةٌ حَتَّى تَنْتَشِرَ ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ مَا بَدَا لَكَ حَتَّى يَقُومَ الْعَمُودُ عَلَى ظِلِّهِ ، ثُمَّ انْتَهِ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ ، فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ تُسْجَرُ نِصْفَ النَّهَارِ ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ مَا بَدَا لَكَ حَتَّى تُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ ، ثُمَّ انْتَهِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ، فَإِنَّهَا تَغْرُبُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ ، وَتَطْلُعُ بَيْنَ قَرْنَيِ الشَّيْطَانِ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah said:` “I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘Is there any time that is more beloved to Allah than another?’ He said: ‘Yes, the middle of the night, so pray as much as you want until dawn comes. Then refrain from praying until the sun has risen, and as long as it looks like a shield until it becomes apparent. Then pray as much as you want until a pole stands on its shadow (i.e., noon), then refrain from praying until it has crossed the zenith, for Hell is heated up at midday. Then pray as much as you want until you pray ‘Asr, then refrain from praying until the sun has set, for it sets between the two horns of Satan and it rises between the two horns of Satan.’”
Hadith 1256
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " صَلِّ الصَّلَاةَ لِوَقْتِهَا ، فَإِنْ أَدْرَكْتَ الْإِمَامَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ فَصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ ، وَقَدْ أَحْرَزْتَ صَلَاتَكَ ، وَإِلَّا فَهِيَ نَافِلَةٌ لَكَ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Dharr that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Offer prayer on time, and if you reached the Imam leading them in prayers (on time), then perform it with them, and you will be safe with your prayer, otherwise it will be voluntary for you.”
Hadith 1259
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ فِي صَلَاةِ الْخَوْفِ : قَالَ : " يَقُومُ الْإِمَامُ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ ، وَتَقُومُ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْهُمْ مَعَهُ ، وَطَائِفَةٌ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْعَدُوِّ وَوُجُوهُهُمْ إِلَى الصَّفِّ ، فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَيَرْكَعُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ ، وَيَسْجُدُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ فِي مَكَانِهِمْ ، ثُمَّ يَذْهَبُونَ إِلَى مُقَامِ أُولَئِكَ ، وَيَجِيءُ أُولَئِكَ فَيَرْكَعُ بِهِمْ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدُ بِهِمْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ ، فَهِيَ لَهُ ثِنْتَانِ وَلَهُمْ وَاحِدَةٌ ، ثُمَّ يَرْكَعُونَ رَكْعَةً وَيَسْجُدُونَ سَجْدَتَيْنِ " ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ : فَسَأَلْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانَ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، فَحَدَّثَنِي عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ خَوَّاتٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي يَحْيَى : اكْتُبْهُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ، وَلَسْتُ أَحْفَظُ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَلَكِنْ مِثْلُ حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى .
´It was narrated from Sahl bin Abu Hathmah that he said concerning the fear prayer:` “The Imam should stand facing the Qiblah, and a group of them should stand with him, and another group should stand in the direction of the enemy, facing towards the row (of worshippers). He should lead them in one Rak’ah, then they should bow and do two prostrations by themselves where they are. Then they should go and take the place of the others, and the others should come and pray one Rak’ah, bowing and prostrating with the leader. Then he will have prayed two Rak’ah and they will have prayed one; then they should perform another Rak’ah, bowing and performing two prostrations.”
Hadith 1291
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَدِيُّ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمُ الْعِيدَ لَمْ يُصَلِّ قَبْلَهَا وَلَا بَعْدَهَا " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) went out and led them in the ‘Eid prayer, and he did not pray before it or after it.
Hadith 1311
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُغِيرَةُ الضَّبِّيُّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " اجْتَمَعَ عِيدَانِ فِي يَوْمِكُمْ هَذَا ، فَمَنْ شَاءَ أَجْزَأَهُ مِنَ الْجُمُعَةِ ، وَإِنَّا مُجَمِّعُونَ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Two ‘Eid have come together on this day of yours. So whoever wants, that (the ‘Eid prayer) will suffice him, and he will not have to pray Friday, but we will pray Friday if Allah wills.” Another chain with similar wording.
Hadith 1322
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَلِيًّا الْأَزْدِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى " .
´Ibn ‘Umar narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Prayers at night and during the day are to be offered two by two.”
Hadith 1325
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ رَبِّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ أَبِي أَنَسٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَافِعِ ابْنِ الْعَمْيَاءِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي وَدَاعَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، وَتَشَهَّدُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَتَبَاءَسُ ، وَتَمَسْكَنُ ، وَتُقْنِعُ ، وَتَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ، فَمَنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ ذَلِكَ فَهِيَ خِدَاجٌ " .
´It was narrated that Muttalib that is, Ibn Abu Wada’ah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The night prayers are (to be offered) two by two. Say the Tashah-hud after each two Rak`ah, and raise your hands in all humility like one who is poor and needy and say: ‘Allāhummaghfir lī (O Allah, forgive me).’ And whoever does not do that, it is imperfect.’”
Hadith 1342
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ طَلْحَةَ الْيَامِيَّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْسَجَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الْبَرَاءَ بْنَ عَازِبٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " زَيِّنُوا الْقُرْآنَ بِأَصْوَاتِكُمْ " .
´It was narrated from Bara’ (bin ‘Azib) that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Beautify the Qur’an with your voices.”
Hadith 1347
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَمْ يَفْقَهْ مَنْ قَرَأَ الْقُرْآنَ فِي أَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثٍ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “No one properly understands who reads the Qur’an in less than three days.”
Hadith 1364
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَعْلَى بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ طَلْقٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْبَيْلَمَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَبَسَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَنْ أَسْلَمَ مَعَكَ ؟ ، قَالَ : " حُرٌّ وَعَبْدٌ " ، قُلْتُ : هَلْ مِنْ سَاعَةٍ أَقْرَبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ مِنْ أُخْرَى ؟ ، قَالَ : " نَعَمْ ، جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ الْأَوْسَطُ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Amr bin ‘Abasah said:` “I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, who became a Muslim with you?’ He said: ‘A free man and a slave.’ I said: ‘Is there any hour of the night that is closer to Allah than another?’ He said: ‘Yes, the last half of the night.’”
Hadith 1381
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ الْعَدَوِيَّةِ ، قَالَتْ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ : أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي الضُّحَى ؟ ، قَالَتْ : " نَعَمْ ، أَرْبَعًا وَيَزِيدُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ " .
´Mu’adhah Al-‘Adawiyyah said:` “I asked ‘Aishah: ‘Did the Prophet (ﷺ) pray Duha?’ She said: ‘Yes; four (Rak’ah) and he would add whatever Allah willed.’”
Hadith 1385
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ سَيَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الْمَدَنِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا ضَرِيرَ الْبَصَرِ ، أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : ادْعُ اللَّهَ لِي أَنْ يُعَافِيَنِي ، فَقَالَ :" إِنْ شِئْتَ أَخَّرْتُ لَكَ وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ دَعَوْتُ " ، فَقَالَ : ادْعُهْ ، " فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ فَيُحْسِنَ وُضُوءَهُ ، وَيُصَلِّيَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَيَدْعُوَ بِهَذَا الدُّعَاءِ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ وَأَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيِّ الرَّحْمَةِ ، يَا مُحَمَّدُ ، إِنِّي قَدْ تَوَجَّهْتُ بِكَ إِلَى رَبِّي فِي حَاجَتِي هَذِهِ لِتُقْضَى اللَّهُمَّ شَفِّعْهُ فِيَّ " ، قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاق : هَذَا حَدِيثٌ صَحِيحٌ .
´It was narrated from ‘Uthman bin Hunaif that a blind man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said:` “Pray to Allah to heal me.” He said: “If you wish to store your reward for the Hereafter, that is better, or if you wish, I will supplicate for you.” He said: “Supplicate.” So he told him to perform ablution and do it well, and to pray two Rak’ah, and to say this supplication: “Allahumma inni as’aluka wa atawajjahu ilaika bimuhammadin nabiyyir-rahmah. Ya Muhammadu inni qad tawajjahtu bika ila rabbi fi hajati hadhihi lituqda. Allahumma fashaffi’hu fiya (O Allah, I ask of You and I turn my face towards You by virtue of the intercession of Muhammad the Prophet of mercy. O Muhammad, I have turned to my Lord by virtue of your intercession concerning this need of mine so that it may be met. O Allah, accept his intercession concerning me)”.
