Hadith 3220
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنِيعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ سَعْدٍ الْبَقَّالِ ، سَمِعَ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : " كُنَّ أَزْوَاجُ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَهَادَيْنَ الْجَرَادَ ، عَلَى الْأَطْبَاقِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu (Sa’eed) Baqqal heard Anas bin Malik say:` “The wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) used to give each other gifts of locusts on trays.”
Hadith 3228
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، عَنْ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهَا ، بِقَتْلِ الْأَوْزَاغِ " .
It was narrated from Umm Sharik that the Prophet (ﷺ) told her to kill house lizards.
Hadith 3232
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو إِدْرِيسَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ : " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ أَكْلِ كُلِّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنَ السِّبَاعِ " ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ بِهَذَا حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ الشَّامَ .
It was narrated from Abu Tha’labah Al-Khushani that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade eating any predatory animal that has fangs.
Hadith 3242
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُصَفَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا أُحَرِّمُ " ، يَعْنِي الضَّبَّ .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “I do not forbid it,” meaning mastigure.
Hadith 3262
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ مِسْعَرٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْأَقْمَرِ ، عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا آكُلُ مُتَّكِئًا " .
´It was narrated from Abu Juhaifah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “I do not eat while reclining.”
Hadith 3265
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا آكُلُ : " سَمِّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " .
'Umar bin Abi Salamah (may Allah be pleased with them both) says that when I was going to eat, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to me: "Take the name of Allah, that is, start eating by saying «بسم الله»."
Hadith 3267
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، سَمِعَهُ مِنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ غُلَامًا فِي حِجْرِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَكَانَتْ يَدِي تَطِيشُ فِي الصَّحْفَةِ ، فَقَالَ لِي : " يَا غُلَامُ سَمِّ اللَّهَ ، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
´It was narrated from Wahb bin Kaisan that he heard ‘Umar bin Abu Salamah say:` “I was a boy in the care of the Prophet (ﷺ) and my hand used to wander all over the plate. He said to me: ‘O boy! Say the Name of Allah, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you.’”
Hadith 3269
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا فَلَا يَمْسَحْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا ، أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا " ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ يَسْأَلُ عَمْرَو بْنَ دِينَارٍ : أَرَأَيْتَ حَدِيثَ عَطَاءٍ ، لَا يَمْسَحْ أَحَدُكُمْ يَدَهُ حَتَّى يَلْعَقَهَا أَوْ يُلْعِقَهَا ، عَمَّنْ هُوَ ؟ قَالَ : عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّهُ حُدِّثْنَاهُ عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : حَفِظْنَاهُ مِنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقْدَمَ جَابِرٌ عَلَيْنَا ، وَإِنَّمَا لَقِيَ عَطَاءٌ جَابِرًا فِي سَنَةٍ جَاوَرَ فِيهَا بِمَكَّةَ .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “When one of you eats food, let him not wipe his hand until he has licked it or has someone else to lick it.”
Hadith 3364
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي يَزِيدَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ أُمِّ أَيُّوبَ , قَالَتْ : صَنَعْتُ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ طَعَامًا فِيهِ مِنْ بَعْضِ الْبُقُولِ , فَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ , وَقَالَ : " إِنِّي أَكْرَهُ أَنْ أُوذِيَ صَاحِبِي " .
´It was narrated that Umm Ayyub said:` “I made some food for the Prophet (ﷺ) in which there were some vegetables. He did not eat it, and he said: ‘I do not like to annoy my companion.’”
Hadith 3383
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : بَلَغَ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ سَمُرَةَ بَاعَ خَمْرًا , فَقَالَ : قَاتَلَ اللَّهُ سَمُرَةَ , أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْيَهُودَ , حُرِّمَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ الشُّحُومُ فَجَمَلُوهَا فَبَاعُوهَا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` Umar heard that Samurah had sold some wine, and he said: “May Allah ruin Samurah! Does he not know that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘May Allah curse the Jews, for animal fat was forbidden to them, so they melted it down and sold it.’”
Hadith 3386
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , تَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " كُلُّ شَرَابٍ أَسْكَرَ فَهُوَ حَرَامٌ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Aishah, narrating it from the Prophet (ﷺ):` “Every drink that causes intoxication is unlawful.”
Hadith 3423
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرَةَ , عَنْ جَدَّةٍ لَهُ يُقَالُ لَهَا كَبْشَةُ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةُ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " دَخَلَ عَلَيْهَا وَعِنْدَهَا قِرْبَةٌ مُعَلَّقَةٌ , فَشَرِبَ مِنْهَا وَهُوَ قَائِمٌ " , فَقَطَعَتْ فَمَ الْقِرْبَةِ , تَبْتَغِي بَرَكَةَ مَوْضِعِ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It was narrated from ‘Abdur-Rahman bin Abi ‘Amrah, from a grandmother of his who was called Kabshah Al-Ansariyyah, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon her, and there was a water skin hanging there. He drank from it while standing, and she cut off the mouth of the water skin, seeking the blessing of the place where the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had been.
Hadith 3429
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ خَلَّادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ , عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَنْ يُنْفَخَ فِي الْإِنَاءِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade blowing into the vessel.”
Hadith 3436
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , وَهِشَامُ ابْنُ عَمَّارٍ , قَالَا ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ , عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ , قَالَ : شَهِدْتُ الْأَعْرَابَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعَلَيْنَا حَرَجٌ فِي كَذَا ؟ أَعَلَيْنَا حَرَجٌ فِي كَذَا ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ : " عِبَادَ اللَّهِ ,وَضَعَ اللَّهُ الْحَرَجَ إِلَّا مَنِ اقْتَرَضَ مِنْ عِرْضِ أَخِيهِ شَيْئًا , فَذَاكَ الَّذِي حَرِجَ " , فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , هَلْ عَلَيْنَا جُنَاحٌ أَنْ لَا نَتَدَاوَى ؟ قَالَ : " تَدَاوَوْا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ , فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ سُبْحَانَهُ لَمْ يَضَعْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَضَعَ مَعَهُ شِفَاءً , إِلَّا الْهَرَمَ " , قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , مَا خَيْرُ مَا أُعْطِيَ الْعَبْدُ ؟ قَالَ : " خُلُقٌ حَسَنٌ " .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Sharik said:` “I saw the Bedouins asking the Prophet (ﷺ): ‘Is there any harm in such and such, is there any harm in such and such?’ He said to them: ‘O slaves of Allah! Allah has only made harm in that which transgresses the honor of one’s brother. That is what is sinful.’ They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! Is there any sin if we do not seek treatment?’ He said: ‘Seek treatment, O slaves of Allah! For Allah does not create any disease but He also creates with it the cure, except for old age.’ They said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the best thing that a person may be given?’ He said: ‘Good manners.’”
Hadith 3437
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي خِزَامَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي خِزَامَةَ , قَالَ : سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرَأَيْتَ أَدْوِيَةً نَتَدَاوَى بِهَا , وَرُقًى نَسْتَرْقِي بِهَا , وَتُقًى نَتَّقِيهَا , هَلْ تَرُدُّ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا , قَالَ : " هِيَ مِنْ قَدَرِ اللَّهِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Khizamah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked: ‘Do you think that the medicines with which we treat ourselves, the Ruqyah by which we seek healing, and the means of protection that we seek, change the decree of Allah at all?’ He said: ‘They are part of the decree of Allah.’”
Hadith 3454
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ , سَمِعَ عَمْرَو بْنَ حُرَيْثٍ , يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ نُفَيْلٍ يُحَدِّثُ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّ الْكَمْأَةَ مِنَ الْمَنِّ الَّذِي أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ , وَمَاؤُهَا شِفَاءُ الْعَيْنِ " .
´‘Amr bin Huraith said:` “I heard Sa’eed bin Zaid bin ‘Amr bin Nufail narrating from the Prophet (ﷺ) that: ‘Truffles are a type of manna that Allah sent down to the Children of Israel, and their water is a healing for eye (diseases).’”
Hadith 3462
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَة , وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ أُمِّ قَيْسٍ بِنْتِ مِحْصَنٍ , قَالَتْ : دَخَلْتُ بِابْنٍ لِي عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَدْ أَعْلَقْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ , فَقَالَ : " عَلَامَ تَدْغَرْنَ أَوْلَادَكُنَّ بِهَذَا الْعِلَاقِ ؟ عَلَيْكُمْ بِهَذَا الْعُودِ الْهِنْدِيِّ , فَإِنَّ فِيهِ سَبْعَةَ أَشْفِيَةٍ يُسْعَطُ بِهِ مِنَ الْعُذْرَةِ , وَيُلَدُّ بِهِ مِنْ ذَاتِ الْجَنْبِ " .
´It was narrated that Umm Qais bint Mihsan said:` “I brought a son of mine to the Prophet (ﷺ), and I had pressed on an area of his throat due to tonsillitis. He said: ‘Why do you poke your children with this pressing?’ You should use this aloeswood, for in it there are seven cures. It should be inhaled for pustules in the throat, and given in the side of the mouth for pleurisy.” (Another chain) from Umm Qais bint Mihsan, from the Prophet (ﷺ) with similar wording.
Hadith 3509
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ , قَالَ : مَرَّ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ , بِسَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ , فَقَالَ : لَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ , فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ لُبِطَ بِهِ , فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : أَدْرِكْ سَهْلًا صَرِيعًا , قَالَ : " مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ ؟ " , قَالُوا : عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ , قَالَ : " عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ ، إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ أَخِيهِ مَا يُعْجِبُهُ , فَلْيَدْعُ لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ " , ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ , فَأَمَرَ عَامِرًا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ , فَيَغْسِلْ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ , وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ , وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ , قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ : عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ : وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَكْفَأَ الْإِنَاءَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ .
´It was narrated that Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif said:` “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah passed by Sahl bin Hunaif when he was having a bath, and said: ‘I have never seen such beautiful skin.’ Straightaway, he (Sahl) fell to the ground. He was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) and it was said: ‘Sahl has had a fit.’ He said: ‘Whom do you accuse with regard to him?’ They said: “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah.’ They said: ‘Why would anyone of you kill his brother? If he sees something that he likes, then let him pray for blessing for him.’ Then he called for water, and he told ‘Amir to perform ablution, then he washed his face and his arms up to the elbows, his knees and inside his lower garment, then he told him to pour the water over him.”
Hadith 3510
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ رِفَاعَةَ الزُّرَقِيِّ , قَالَ : قَالَتْ أَسْمَاءُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّ بَنِي جَعْفَرٍ تُصِيبُهُمُ الْعَيْنُ , فَأَسْتَرْقِي لَهُمْ , قَالَ : " نَعَمْ فَلَوْ كَانَ شَيْءٌ سَابَقَ الْقَدَرَ , سَبَقَتْهُ الْعَيْنُ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ubaid bin Rifa’ah Az-Zuraqi said:` “Asma’ said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them?’ He said: ‘Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be the evil eye.’”
Hadith 3521
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ , عَنْ عَمْرَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , كَانَ مِمَّا يَقُولُ لِلْمَرِيضِ بِبُزَاقِهِ بِإِصْبَعِهِ : " بِسْمِ اللَّهِ تُرْبَةُ أَرْضِنَا بِرِيقَةِ بَعْضِنَا , لِيُشْفَى سَقِيمُنَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّنَا " .
´It was narrated from ‘Aishah that one of the things that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to say for the sick person, with saliva on his finger (dipped in dust), was:` “Bismillah, turbatu ardina, biriqati ba’dina, liyushfa saqimuna. Bi’dhni Rabbina (In the Name of Allah, the dust of our land mixed with the saliva of one of us, to cure our sick one by the permission of our Lord).”
Hadith 3550
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُرْوَةَ , عَنْ عَائِشَةَ , قَالَتْ : صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي خَمِيصَةٍ لَهَا أَعْلَامٌ , فَقَالَ : " شَغَلَنِي أَعْلَامُ هَذِهِ , اذْهَبُوا بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي جَهْمٍ وَأْتُونِي بأنبجانيته " .
´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed in a Khamisah* that had markings on it. Then he said: ‘These markings distracted me. Take it to Abu Jahm and bring me an Anbijaniyyah.’”**
Hadith 3552
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الْأَحْوَصِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ , عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ , عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ , أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَّى فِي شَمْلَةٍ قَدْ عَقَدَ عَلَيْهَا " .
It was narrated from ‘Ubadah bin Samit that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed in a Shamlah tied with a knot.
Hadith 3559
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى عَنْ لِبْسَتَيْنِ ، فَأَمَّا اللِّبْسَتَانِ : فَاشْتِمَالُ الصَّمَّاءِ ، وَالِاحْتِبَاءُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ لَيْسَ عَلَى فَرْجِهِ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ " .
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that the Prophet (ﷺ) forbade two kinds of dress. Those two types of dress are Ishtimalus- Samma’* and Ihtiba’ in a single garment, with no part of it upon his private part.**
Hadith 3573M
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو إِسْحَاق , عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ نُذَيْرٍ , عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , مِثْلَهُ .
With this chain also, it is narrated from Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) in a similar manner, as a marfu’ (attributed to the Prophet).
Hadith 3573
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِأَبِي سَعِيدٍ هَلْ سَمِعْتَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا فِي الْإِزَارِ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ , سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " إِزْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِلَى أَنْصَافِ سَاقَيْهِ , لَا جُنَاحَ عَلَيْهِ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ , وَمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فِي النَّارِ " , يَقُولُ ثَلَاثًا : " لَا يَنْظُرُ اللَّهُ إِلَى مَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا " .
´It was narrated from ‘Ala bin ‘Abdur-Rahman that his father said:` “I said to Abu Sa’eed: ‘Did you hear anything from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) concerning the lower wrap?’ He said: ‘Yes. I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘The lower wrap of the believer should come to mid-calf, but there is no sin on him if it comes between that point and the ankle. But whatever is lower than the ankle is in the Fire.’ And he said three times: ‘Allah will not look at the one who lets his lower wrap drag out of vanity.’”
Hadith 3584
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ مُسَاوِرٍ الْوَرَّاقِ , عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَخْطُبُ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ وَعَلَيْهِ عِمَامَةٌ سَوْدَاءُ " .
´It was narrated from Ja’far bin ‘Amr bin Huraith that his father said:` “I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) delivering a sermon on the pulpit, wearing a black turban.”
Hadith 3609
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ وَعْلَةَ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " أَيُّمَا إِهَابٍ دُبِغَ , فَقَدْ طَهُرَ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Any skin that has been tanned has been purified.’”
Hadith 3610
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ , أَنَّ شَاةً لِمَوْلَاةِ مَيْمُونَةَ , مَرَّ بِهَا يَعْنِي : النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أُعْطِيَتْهَا مِنَ الصَّدَقَةِ مَيْتَةً , فَقَالَ : " هَلَّا أَخَذُوا إِهَابَهَا فَدَبَغُوهُ فَانْتَفَعُوا بِهِ " , فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّهَا مَيْتَةٌ , قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا حُرِّمَ أَكْلُهَا " .
´It was narrated from Maimunah that he (meaning the Prophet (ﷺ)) passed by a dead sheep belonging to the freed slave woman of Maimunah, that had been given to her in charity. He said:` “Why don’t they take its skin and ten it, and make us of it?” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, it is dead meat.”* He said: “It is only unlawful to eat it.”
Hadith 3621
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ , وَسُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ يُخْبِرَانِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْيَهُودَ , وَالنَّصَارَى , لَا يَصْبُغُونَ فَخَالِفُوهُمْ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah attributed to the Prophet (ﷺ):` “The Jews and the Christians do not dye (their hair), so differ from them.”
Hadith 3631
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ , عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ , قَالَ : قَالَتْ أُمُّ هَانِئٍ , " دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَكَّةَ وَلَهُ أَرْبَعُ غَدَائِرَ " , تَعْنِي ضَفَائِرَ .
´It was narrated that Mujahid said:` “Umm Hani said: ‘When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered Makkah he had four braids.’”
Hadith 3639
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى , عَنْ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ , ثُمَّ نَقَشَ فِيهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ , فَقَالَ : " لَا يَنْقُشْ أَحَدٌ عَلَى نَقْشِ خَاتَمِي هَذَا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wore a ring of silver, then he had engraved on it (the words) ‘Muhammad Rasul Allah’ (Muhammad the Messenger of Allah). And he said: ‘No one should have his ring engraved like this ring of mine.’”
Hadith 3645
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى , عَنْ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم كَانَ " يَجْعَلُ فَصَّ خَاتَمِهِ مِمَّا يَلِي كَفَّهُ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) used to wear (his ring) with the stone nearest his palm.
Hadith 3649
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , عَنْ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا تَدْخُلُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ كَلْبٌ وَلَا صُورَةٌ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Talhah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or an image.”
Hadith 3658
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ الْمَكِّيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ , عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , مَنْ أَبَرُّ ؟ قَالَ : " أُمَّكَ " , قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " أُمَّكَ " , قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " أَبَاكَ " , قَالَ : ثُمَّ مَنْ ؟ قَالَ : " الْأَدْنَى فَالْأَدْنَى " .
´Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them, said that:` Allah's Messenger said: "They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, whom should I treat kindly?' He said: 'Your mother.' He said: 'Then who?' He said :'Your mother." He said: 'Then who?' He said: 'Your father'. He said : 'Then who?' He said: 'The next closest and the next closest.'"
Hadith 3663
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عَطَاءٍ , عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ , سَمِعَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , يَقُولُ : " الْوَالِدُ أَوْسَطُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ , فَأَضِعْ ذَلِكَ الْبَابَ أَوِ احْفَظْهُ " .
´Abu Darda' heard the Prophet (ﷺ) say that:` "The father is the middle door of Paradise (i.e. the best way to Paradise), so it is up to you whether you take advantage of it or not."
Hadith 3672
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ , سَمِعَ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُخْبِرُ , عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ , فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ , وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ , فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ , وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ , فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Shuraih Al-Khuzai that the Prophet(ﷺ) said:` "Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him treat his neighbour well. Whoever believes in Allah and Last Day, let him honor his guest. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or else remain silent"
Hadith 3675
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَجْلَانَ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ , فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ , وَجَائِزَتُهُ يَوْمٌ وَلَيْلَةٌ , وَلَا يَحِلُّ لَهُ أَنْ يَثْوِيَ عِنْدَ صَاحِبِهِ , حَتَّى يُحْرِجَهُ الضِّيَافَةُ ثَلَاثَةُ أَيَّامٍ , وَمَا أَنْفَقَ عَلَيْهِ بَعْدَ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ فَهُوَ صَدَقَةٌ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Shuraih Al-Khuza'i that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:` "Whoever believes in the Last Day, let him honor his guest, and grant him reward for a day and a night. And it is not permissible for him to stay so long that he causes annoyance to his host. Hospitality is for three days, and whatever he spends on him after three days is charity."
Hadith 3701
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعَهُ مِنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ , يَقُولُ : أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَسْمَاءُ بِنْتُ يَزِيدَ , قَالَتْ : " مَرَّ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي نِسْوَةٍ , فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْنَا " .
´Asma bint Yazid said:` "The Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) passed by us, among (a group of) women, and he greeted us with (the greeting of) peace."
Hadith 3735
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ , يَقُولُ : قَالَ أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " تَسَمَّوْا بِاسْمِي , وَلَا تَكَنَّوْا بِكُنْيَتِي " .
´It was narrated from Muhammad that they heard Abu Hurairah say:` "Abul Qasim(ﷺ) said: 'Call yourselves by my name but do not call yourselves by my Kunyah."
Hadith 3757
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " أَصْدَقُ كَلِمَةٍ قَالَهَا الشَّاعِرُ كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ أَلَا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلَا اللَّهَ بَاطِلُ , وَكَادَ أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ أَنْ يُسْلِمَ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:` "The truest of wods spoken by the poet are the words of Labid: Everything except Allah is false.' And Abu Umayyah bin Abu Salt nearly accepted Islam."
