Hadith 2183
وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قالا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي وَهُوَ ابْنُ سَعِيدٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ . ح وحدثنا قُتَيْبَةُ ، وَابْنُ رُمْحٍ ، عَنْ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ . ح وحدثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قالا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحدثنا ابْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قال : سَمِعْتُ أَيُّوبَ بْنَ مُوسَى كُلُّ هَؤُلَاءِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عن النبي صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَالِكٍ .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of ibn 'Umar through two different chains of transmitters.
Hadith 2218
وحدثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ بِإِسْنَادِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِهِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Juraij through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2263
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، وَهِشَامٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : إِذَا اقْتَرَبَ الزَّمَانُ ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِيهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) and the words are: "When the time draws near," the rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 2266
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، وَهِشَامٌ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ رَآنِي فِي الْمَنَامِ ، فَقَدْ رَآنِي ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَتَمَثَّلُ بِي " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who saw me in a dream in fact saw me, for the satan does not appear in my form.
Hadith 2279
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَأُتِيَ بِقَدَحٍ رَحْرَاحٍ ، فَجَعَلَ الْقَوْمُ يَتَوَضَّئُونَ ، فَحَزَرْتُ مَا بَيْنَ السِّتِّينَ إِلَى الثَّمَانِينَ ، قَالَ : فَجَعَلْتُ أَنْظُرُ إِلَى الْمَاءِ يَنْبُعُ مِنْ بَيْنِ أَصَابِعِهِ " .
Anas reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) called for water and he was given a vessel and the people began to perform ablution in that and I counted (the persons) and they were between fifty and eighty and I saw water which was spouting from his fingers.
Hadith 2299
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ أَمَامَكُمْ حَوْضًا مَا بَيْنَ نَاحِيَتَيْهِ كَمَا بَيْنَ جَرْبَاءَ ، وَأَذْرُحَ " .
Ibn 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There is before you a Cistern and the distance between its two sides is as it is between Jarba' and Adhruh.
Hadith 2307
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِيَحْيَي ، قَالَ يَحْيَي : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَحْسَنَ النَّاسِ ، وَكَانَ أَجْوَدَ النَّاسِ ، وَكَانَ أَشْجَعَ النَّاسِ ، وَلَقَدْ فَزِعَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ ، فَانْطَلَقَ نَاسٌ قِبَلَ الصَّوْتِ ، فَتَلَقَّاهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَاجِعًا ، وَقَدْ سَبَقَهُمْ إِلَى الصَّوْتِ وَهُوَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ لِأَبِي طَلْحَةَ ، عُرْيٍ فِي عُنُقِهِ السَّيْفُ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : لَمْ تُرَاعُوا ، لَمْ تُرَاعُوا ، قَالَ : وَجَدْنَاهُ بَحْرًا ، أَوْ إِنَّهُ لَبَحْرٌ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَ فَرَسًا يُبَطَّأُ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was the sublimest among people (in character) and the most generous amongst them and he was the bravest of men. One night the people of Madinah felt disturbed and set forth in the direction of a sound when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) met them on his way back as he had gone towards that sound ahead of them. He was on the horse of Abu Talha which had no saddle over it, and a sword was slung round his neck, and he was saying: There was nothing to be afraid of, and he also said: We found it (this horse) like a torrent of water (indicating its swift-footedness), whereas the horse had been slow before that time.
Hadith 2309
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " خَدَمْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَشْرَ سِنِينَ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا قَالَ لِي أُفًّا قَطُّ ، وَلَا قَالَ لِي لِشَيْءٍ ، لِمَ فَعَلْتَ كَذَا ، وَهَلَّا فَعَلْتَ كَذَا " ، زَادَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : لَيْسَ مِمَّا يَصْنَعُهُ الْخَادِمُ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قَوْلَهُ : وَاللَّهِ .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: I served the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) for ten years, and, by Allah, he never said to me any harsh word, and he never said to me about a thing as to why I had done that and as to why I had not done that. Abu Rabi' has made this addition (in this narration): "The work which a servant should do." There is no mention of his words "By Allah".
Hadith 2323
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَحَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ ، وَغُلَامٌ أَسْوَدُ يُقَالُ لَهُ : أَنْجَشَةُ ، يَحْدُو ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَا أَنْجَشَةُ ، رُوَيْدَكَ سَوْقًا بِالْقَوَارِيرِ " .
Anas reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) had in one of his journeys his black slave who was called Anjasha along with him. He goaded by singing the songs of camel-driver. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Anjasha, drive slowly as you are driving the mounts who are carrying glass vessels
Hadith 2323
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَحَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، بِنَحْوِهِ .

Hadith 2341
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ ، قَالَ : " سُئِلَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ خِضَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَقَالَ : لَوْ شِئْتُ أَنْ أَعُدَّ شَمَطَاتٍ كُنَّ فِي رَأْسِهِ فَعَلْتُ ، وَقَالَ : لَمْ يَخْتَضِبْ ، وَقَدِ اخْتَضَبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِالْحِنَّاءِ ، وَالْكَتَمِ ، وَاخْتَضَبَ عُمَرُ بِالْحِنَّاءِ بَحْتًا " .
Thabit reported that Anas bin Malik (RA) was asked about the dyeing (of the hair of) Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) . Thereupon he said.: (They were so few) that if I so liked I could count their number in his head, and he further said: (That is) he did not dye. Abu Bakr, however, dyed them and so did 'Umar dye them with pure henna.
Hadith 2346
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ الْأَحْوَلِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَرْجِسَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَكَلْتُ مَعَهُ خُبْزًا ، وَلَحْمًا ، أَوَ قَالَ : ثَرِيدًا ، قَالَ ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : أَسْتَغْفَرَ لَكَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَلَكَ ، ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ : وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنْبِكَ وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ سورة محمد آية 19 ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ دُرْتُ خَلْفَهُ ، فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَى خَاتَمِ النُّبُوَّةِ بَيْنَ كَتِفَيْهِ عِنْدَ نَاغِضِ ، كَتِفِهِ الْيُسْرَى جُمْعًا عَلَيْهِ خِيلَانٌ كَأَمْثَالِ الثَّآلِيلِ " .
Abdullah bin Sarjis reported: I saw Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and ate with him bread and meat, or he said Tharid (bread soaked in soup). I said to him: Did Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) seek forgiveness for you? He said: Yes, and for you, and he then recited this verse: "Ask forgiveness for thy sin and for the believing men and believing women" (xlvii. 19). I then went after him and saw the Seal of Prophethood between his shoulders on the left side of his shoulder having spots on it like moles.
Hadith 2403
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ دَخَلَ حَائِطًا ، وَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْفَظَ الْبَابَ ، بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2438
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي الرَّبِيعِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أُرِيتُكِ فِي الْمَنَامِ ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ ، جَاءَنِي بِكِ الْمَلَكُ فِي سَرَقَةٍ مِنْ حَرِيرٍ ، فَيَقُولُ : هَذِهِ امْرَأَتُكَ فَأَكْشِفُ عَنْ وَجْهِكِ ، فَإِذَا أَنْتِ هِيَ فَأَقُولُ : إِنْ يَكُ هَذَا مِنْ عِنْدِ اللَّهِ يُمْضِهِ " .
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said: I saw you in a dream for three nights when an angel brought you to me in a silk cloth and he said: Here is your wife, and when I removed (the cloth) from your face, lo, it was yourself, so I said: If this is from Allah, let Him carry it out.
Hadith 2478
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَخَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ فِي الْمَنَامِ كَأَنَّ فِي يَدِي قِطْعَةَ إِسْتَبْرَقٍ ، وَلَيْسَ مَكَانٌ أُرِيدُ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ إِلَّا طَارَتْ إِلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَقَصَصْتُهُ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ ، فَقَصَّتْهُ حَفْصَةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَرَى عَبْدَ اللَّهِ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا " .
Ibn 'Umar reported: I saw in a state of sleep as if I have in my hand a piece of silk cloth and there is no place in the Paradise where I intend to reach but that piece of cloth does not fly towards it. I made a mention of it to Hafsa (the sister of Ibn 'Umar) and Hafsa made a mention of it to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , whereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: I find 'Abdullah b 'Umar a pious person.
Hadith 2568
حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِيَانِ ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : رَفَعَهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَائِدُ الْمَرِيضِ فِي مَخْرَفَةِ الْجَنَّةِ حَتَّى يَرْجِعَ " .
Abu Rabi' reported directly from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) (may peace upon him) as saying: The one who visits the sick is in fact like one who is in the fruit garden of Paradise so long as he does not return.
Hadith 2595
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، بِإِسْنَادِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِهِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ عِمْرَانُ : فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهَا نَاقَةً وَرْقَاءَ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ الثَّقَفِيِّ ، فَقَالَ : خُذُوا مَا عَلَيْهَا وَأَعْرُوهَا فَإِنَّهَا مَلْعُونَةٌ .
'Imran reported: I perceive as if I am looking towards that dromedary, and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Thaqafi (the words are): "Unload it and make its back bare for it is accursed."
Hadith 2601
حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِنَحْوِهِ .

Hadith 2614
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَ أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ : حَدَّثَنَا ، وقَالَ يَحْيَي ، وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا مَرَّ بِأَسْهُمٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ قَدْ أَبْدَى نُصُولَهَا ، " فَأُمِرَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ بِنُصُولِهَا كَيْ لَا يَخْدِشَ مُسْلِمًا " .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah (RA) reported that a person happened to come to the mosque with arrows and their iron-ends were exposed, so he was commanded that he should grasp the pointed heads so that these might not do any harm to a Muslim.
Hadith 2639
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لِلسَّاعَةِ ؟ قَالَ : حُبَّ اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَمَا فَرِحْنَا بَعْدَ الْإِسْلَامِ فَرَحًا أَشَدَّ مِنْ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَإِنَّكَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ : فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، وَأَبَا بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرَ ، فَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ مَعَهُمْ ، وَإِنْ لَمْ أَعْمَلْ بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported through another chain of transmitters that a desert Arab came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon, him), the rest of the hadith is the same but with this variation that he said: I have not made much preparations which merit appreciation for myself.
Hadith 2642
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِيَحْيَي ، قَالَ يَحْيَي : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرَأَيْتَ الرَّجُلَ يَعْمَلُ الْعَمَلَ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَيَحْمَدُهُ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ : تِلْكَ عَاجِلُ بُشْرَى الْمُؤْمِنِ " . ح
Abu Dharr (RA) reported: It was said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) : What is your opinion about the person who has done good deeds and the people praise him? He said: It is glad tidings for a believer (which he has received in this mortal world).
Hadith 2646
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، وَرَفَعَ الْحَدِيثَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ وَكَّلَ بِالرَّحِمِ مَلَكًا ، فَيَقُولُ : أَيْ رَبِّ نُطْفَةٌ ؟ أَيْ رَبِّ عَلَقَةٌ ؟ أَيْ رَبِّ مُضْغَةٌ ؟ فَإِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ أَنْ يَقْضِيَ خَلْقًا ، قَالَ : قَالَ الْمَلَكُ : أَيْ رَبِّ ذَكَرٌ أَوْ أُنْثَى ؟ شَقِيٌّ أَوْ سَعِيدٌ ؟ فَمَا الرِّزْقُ ؟ فَمَا الْأَجَلُ ؟ فَيُكْتَبُ كَذَلِكَ فِي بَطْنِ أُمِّهِ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported directly from Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) that he said: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, has appointed an angel as the caretaker of the womb, and he would say: My Lord, it is now a drop of semen; my Lord, it is now a clot of blood; my Lord, it has now become a lump of flesh, and when Allah decides to give it a final shape, the angel says: My Lord, would it be male or female or would he be an evil or a good person? What about his livelihood and his age? And it is all written as he is in the womb of his mother.
Hadith 2649
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الضُّبَعِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفٌ ، عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَعُلِمَ أَهْلُ الْجَنَّةِ مَنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ : فَفِيمَ يَعْمَلُ الْعَامِلُونَ ؟ قَالَ : " كُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ " .
'Imran bin Husain repotted that it was said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) : Has there been drawn a distinction between the people of Paradise and the denizens of hell? He said: Yes. It was again said: (If it is so), then What is the use of doing good deeds? Thereupon he said: Everyone is facilitated in what has been created for him.
Hadith 2666
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيُّ ، قَالَ : كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَبَاحٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : هَجَّرْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا ، قَالَ : فَسَمِعَ أَصْوَاتَ رَجُلَيْنِ اخْتَلَفَا فِي آيَةٍ ، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْرَفُ فِي وَجْهِهِ الْغَضَبُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّمَا هَلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِاخْتِلَافِهِمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ " .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar reported: I went to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) in the morning and he heard the voice of two persons who had an argumentation with each other about a verse. Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) came to us (and) the (signs) of anger could be seen on his face. He said: Verily, the (peoples) before you were ruined because of their disputation in the Book.
Hadith 2673
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، وَأَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وعبدة . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ سَعِيدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ ، ثُمَّ لَقِيتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍ وَعَلَى رَأْسِ الْحَوْلِ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ فَرَدَّ عَلَيْنَا الْحَدِيثَ ، كَمَا حَدَّثَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) through other chains of transmitters, but in the hadith transmitted by Umar bin 'Ali there is an addition of these words: I met 'Abdullah bin 'Amr at the end of the year and I asked him about it, and he narrated to us the hadith as he had narrated before that he had heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying.... (The rest of the hadith is the same).
Hadith 2702
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ الْأَغَرِّ الْمُزَنِيِّ ، وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لَيُغَانُ عَلَى قَلْبِي وَإِنِّي لَأَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ فِي الْيَوْمِ مِائَةَ مَرَّةٍ " .
Al-Agharr al-Muzani, who was one amongst the Companions (of the Holy Prophet) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: There is (at times) some sort of shade upon my heart, and I seek forgiveness from Allah a hundred times a day.
Hadith 2704
حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، وَأَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى ، قَالَ : كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ عَاصِمٍ ،
Abu Musa reported: We were along with Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) on a journey; the rest of the hadith is the same as transmitted by A'sim.
Hadith 2811
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْغُبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ الضُّبَعِيِّ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا لِأَصْحَابِهِ : " أَخْبِرُونِي عَنْ شَجَرَةٍ مَثَلُهَا مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ ؟ " ، فَجَعَلَ الْقَوْمُ يَذْكُرُونَ شَجَرًا مِنْ شَجَرِ الْبَوَادِي ، قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ : وَأُلْقِيَ فِي نَفْسِي أَوْ رُوعِيَ أَنَّهَا النَّخْلَةُ ، فَجَعَلْتُ أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَقُولَهَا ، فَإِذَا أَسْنَانُ الْقَوْمِ ، فَأَهَابُ أَنْ أَتَكَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا سَكَتُوا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هِيَ النَّخْلَةُ " ،
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) one day said to his Companions: Tell me about a tree which has resemblance with a believer. The people began to mention (different) trees of the forest. Ibn 'Umar said: It was instilled in my mind or in my heart and it stuck therein that it implied the date-palm tree. I made up my mind to make a mention of that but could not do that because of the presence of the elderly people there. When there was a hush amongst them (after they had expressed their views), Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: It is the date-palm tree.
Hadith 2816
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ يُدْخِلُهُ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ " ، فَقِيلَ : وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِي رَبِّي بِرَحْمَةٍ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There is none amongst you whose deeds alone would attain salvation for him. They (the Companions) said: Allah's Messenger, not even you? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Not even I, but that Allah wraps me in Mercy and He grants me pardon. Ibn 'Aun pointed towards his head with his hand saying: Not even I, but that Allah wraps me in His Forgiveness and Mercy.
Hadith 2872
حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا بُدَيْلٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا خَرَجَتْ رُوحُ الْمُؤْمِنِ تَلَقَّاهَا مَلَكَانِ يُصْعِدَانِهَا ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ : فَذَكَرَ مِنْ طِيبِ رِيحِهَا ، وَذَكَرَ الْمِسْكَ ، قَالَ : وَيَقُولُ : أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ رُوحٌ طَيِّبَةٌ جَاءَتْ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْأَرْضِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْكِ وَعَلَى جَسَدٍ كُنْتِ تَعْمُرِينَهُ ، فَيُنْطَلَقُ بِهِ إِلَى رَبِّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : انْطَلِقُوا بِهِ إِلَى آخِرِ الْأَجَلِ ، قَالَ : وَإِنَّ الْكَافِرَ إِذَا خَرَجَتْ رُوحُهُ ، قَالَ حَمَّادٌ ، وَذَكَرَ مِنْ نَتْنِهَا ، وَذَكَرَ لَعْنًا ، وَيَقُولُ أَهْلُ السَّمَاءِ : رُوحٌ خَبِيثَةٌ جَاءَتْ مِنْ قِبَلِ الْأَرْضِ ، قَالَ : فَيُقَالُ : انْطَلِقُوا بِهِ إِلَى آخِرِ الْأَجَلِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : فَرَدَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَيْطَةً كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِ عَلَى أَنْفِهِ هَكَذَا .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: When the soul of a believer would go out (of his body) it would be received bv two angels who would take it to the sky. Hammad (one of the narrators in the chain of transmitters) mentioned the swetness of its odour, (and further said) that the dwellers of the sky say: Here comes the pious soul from the side of the earth Let there be blessings of Allah upon the body in which it resides. And it is carried (by the angels) to its Lord, the Exalted and Glorious. He would say: Take it to its destined end. And if he is a nonbeliever and as it (the soul) leaves the body-Hammad made a mention of its foul smell and of its being cursed-the dwellers of the sky say: There comes a dirty soul from the side of the earth, and it would be said: Take it to its destined end. Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) put a thin cloth which was with him upon his nose while making a mention (of the foul smell) of the soul of a non-believer.
Hadith 2876
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ayyub with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2887
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ ، ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ الشَّحَّامُ ، قَالَ : انْطَلَقْتُ أَنَا وَفَرْقَدٌ السَّبَخِيُّ إِلَى مُسْلِمِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ وَهُوَ فِي أَرْضِهِ ، فَدَخَلْنَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَقُلْنَا : هَلْ سَمِعْتَ أَبَاكَ يُحَدِّثُ فِي الْفِتَنِ حَدِيثًا ؟ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَكْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّهَا سَتَكُونُ فِتَنٌ ، أَلَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ فِتْنَةٌ الْقَاعِدُ فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ الْمَاشِي فِيهَا ، وَالْمَاشِي فِيهَا خَيْرٌ مِنَ السَّاعِي إِلَيْهَا ، أَلَا فَإِذَا نَزَلَتْ أَوْ وَقَعَتْ ، فَمَنْ كَانَ لَهُ إِبِلٌ فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِإِبِلِهِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ غَنَمٌ فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِغَنَمِهِ ، وَمَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَلْحَقْ بِأَرْضِهِ " ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ إِبِلٌ وَلَا غَنَمٌ وَلَا أَرْضٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : " يَعْمِدُ إِلَى سَيْفِهِ فَيَدُقُّ عَلَى حَدِّهِ بِحَجَرٍ ، ثُمَّ لِيَنْجُ إِنِ اسْتَطَاعَ النَّجَاءَ ، اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ، اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ ، اللَّهُمَّ هَلْ بَلَّغْتُ " قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أُكْرِهْتُ حَتَّى يُنْطَلَقَ بِي إِلَى أَحَدِ الصَّفَّيْنِ أَوْ إِحْدَى الْفِئَتَيْنِ ، فَضَرَبَنِي رَجُلٌ بِسَيْفِهِ أَوْ يَجِيءُ سَهْمٌ ، فَيَقْتُلُنِي ، قَالَ : " يَبُوءُ بِإِثْمِهِ وَإِثْمِكَ وَيَكُونُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّارِ " ،
Abu Bakr (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There would soon be turmoil. Behold! there would be turmoil in which the one who would be seated would be better than one who would stand and the one who would stand would be better than one who would run. Behold! when the turmoil comes or it appears, the one who has camel should stick to his camel and he who has sheep or goat should stick to his sheep and goat and he who has land should stick to the land. A person said: 'Allah's Messenger, what is your opinion about one who has neither camel nor sheep nor land? Thereupon, he said: He should take hold of his sword and beat its edge with the help of stone and then try to find a way of escape. O Allah, I have conveyed (Thy Message) ; O Allah, I have conveyed (Thy Message) ; O Allah, I have conveyed (Thy Message). A person said: Allah's Messenger, what is your opinion if I am drawn to a rank in spite of myself, or in one of the groups and made to march and a man strikes with his sword or there comes an arrow and kills me? Thereupon he said: He will bear the punishment of his sin and that of yours and he would be one amongst the denizens of Hell.

حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَامِلٍ فُضَيْلُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، وَيُونُسَ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ وَأَنَا أُرِيدُ هَذَا الرَّجُلَ فَلَقِيَنِي أَبُو بَكْرَةَ ، فَقَالَ : أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ يَا أَحْنَفُ ؟ قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أُرِيدُ نَصْرَ ابْنِ عَمِّ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْنِي عَلِيًّا ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لِي : يَا أَحْنَفُ ارْجِعْ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِذَا تَوَاجَهَ الْمُسْلِمَانِ بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا ، فَالْقَاتِلُ وَالْمَقْتُولُ فِي النَّارِ " ، قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : أَوْ قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَذَا الْقَاتِلُ فَمَا بَالُ الْمَقْتُولِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّهُ قَدْ أَرَادَ قَتْلَ صَاحِبِهِ " .
Ahnaf bin Qais reported: I set out with the intention of helping this person (Hadrat 'Ali) that Abu Bakr (RA) met me. He said: Ahnaf, where do you intend to go? I said: I intend to help the cousin of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , viz. 'Ali. Thereupon he said to me: Ahnaf, go back, for I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: When two Muslims confront one another with swords (in hands) both the slayer and the slain would be in Fire. He (Ahnaf) said: I said, or it was said: Allah's Messenger, it may be the case of one who kills. but what about the slain (why would he be put in Hell-Fire)? Thereupon he said: He also intended to kill his companion.
Hadith 2888
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، وَيُونُسَ ، وَالْمُعَلَّى بْنِ زِيَادٍ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ الْأَحْنَفِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا الْتَقَى الْمُسْلِمَانِ بِسَيْفَيْهِمَا ، فَالْقَاتِلُ وَالْمَقْتُولُ فِي النَّارِ " ،
Ahnaf bin Qais reported on the authority of Abu Bakr (RA) that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: When two Muslims confront each other with their swords, both the slayer and the slain are doomed to Hell-Fire.
Hadith 2889
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ كلاهما ، عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِقُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ أَيَّوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أَسْمَاءَ ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ زَوَى لِي الْأَرْضَ ، فَرَأَيْتُ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا ، وَإِنَّ أُمَّتِي سَيَبْلُغُ مُلْكُهَا مَا زُوِيَ لِي مِنْهَا ، وَأُعْطِيتُ الْكَنْزَيْنِ الْأَحْمَرَ وَالْأَبْيَضَ ، وَإِنِّي سَأَلْتُ رَبِّي لِأُمَّتِي أَنْ لَا يُهْلِكَهَا بِسَنَةٍ عَامَّةٍ ، وَأَنْ لَا يُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ سِوَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ فَيَسْتَبِيحَ بَيْضَتَهُمْ ، وَإِنَّ رَبِّي قَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ : إِنِّي إِذَا قَضَيْتُ قَضَاءً ، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يُرَدُّ وَإِنِّي أَعْطَيْتُكَ لِأُمَّتِكَ أَنْ لَا أُهْلِكَهُمْ بِسَنَةٍ عَامَّةٍ ، وَأَنْ لَا أُسَلِّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ عَدُوًّا مِنْ سِوَى أَنْفُسِهِمْ يَسْتَبِيحُ بَيْضَتَهُمْ ، وَلَوِ اجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَنْ بِأَقْطَارِهَا ، أَوَ قَالَ : مَنْ بَيْنَ أَقْطَارِهَا حَتَّى يَكُونَ بَعْضُهُمْ يُهْلِكُ بَعْضًا وَيَسْبِي بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا " ،
Thauban reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Allah drew the ends of the world near one another for my sake. And I have seen its eastern and western ends. And the dominion of my Ummah would reach those ends which have been drawn near me and I have been granted the red and the white treasure and I begged my Lord for my Ummah that it should not be destroyed because of famine, nor be dominated by an enemy who is not amongst them to take their lives and destroy them root and branch, and my Lord said: Muhammad, whenever I make a decision, there is none to change it. Well, I grant you for your Ummah that it would not be destroyed by famine and it would not be dominated by an enemy who would not be amongst it and would take their lives and destroy them root and branch even if all the people from the different parts of the world join hands together (for this purpose), but it would be from amongst them, viz. your Ummah, that some people would kill the others or imprison the others.
Hadith 2899
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْغُبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ يُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، فَهَبَّتْ رِيحٌ حَمْرَاءُ ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِنَحْوِهِ وَحَدِيثُ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ أَتَمُّ وَأَشْبَعُ ،
Jabir reported: I was in the company of Ibn Mas'ud that there blew a red storm. The rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 169
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ ، وَأَبُو كَامِلٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Umar through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2948
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو كَامِلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
The previous hadith is narrated through Abu Kamil from Hammad with the same chain.
Hadith 2953
وحَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْبَدُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ الْعَنَزِيُّ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا سَأَل النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : مَتَى تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُنَيْهَةً ثُمَّ نَظَرَ إِلَى غُلَامٍ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ مِنْ أَزْدِ شَنُوءَةَ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ عُمِّرَ هَذَا لَمْ يُدْرِكْهُ الْهَرَمُ حَتَّى تَقُومَ السَّاعَةُ " ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَنَسٌ : ذَاكَ الْغُلَامُ مِنْ أَتْرَابِي يَوْمَئِذٍ .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported that a person asked Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) : When would the Last Hour come? Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) kept quiet for a while, then looked at a young boy in his presence belonging to the tribe of Azd Shanilwa and he said: If this boy lives he would not grow very old till the Last Hour would come to you. Anas said that this young boy was of our age during those days.
