Hadith 5693

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , قَالَ : " نَبِيذُ الْبُسْرِ بَحْتٌ لَا يَحِلُّ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said:` "Nabidh made from Al-Busr is forbidden and is not permissible."

By this is meant the intoxicating nabidh. Since the nabidh of unripe dates (gudar) becomes intoxicating quickly, it was not felt necessary to impose any restriction. From this fatwa as well, the legal position (madhhab) of Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) becomes known.
