´It was narrated from Hudhaifah that:` He saw a man praying (And his bowing and prostration) were lacking. Hudhaifah said to him: 'For how long have you been praying like this?' He said: "For forty years.' He said: 'You have not been praying for forty years and if you die praying like this, you will have died following a path other than the path of Muhammad (ﷺ). Then he said: 'It is possible for a man to pray briefly, but still do it properly."

1313. Commentary:
➊ That person was performing the prayer hastily and was not maintaining tranquility and calmness. It is mentioned in Bukhari: «لا يُتِمُّ الرُّكوعَ والسُّجودَ» “He was not completing the bowing (ruku) and prostration (sujud).” [صحیح البخاري ، الأذان ، حدیث : 791] This narration is also found in Musannaf ‘Abd al-Razzaq [حدیث : 3732 ، 3733], where it is stated that he was pecking. “Yanquru fiha” (he was pecking in it). In another narration, this type of prayer is likened to “pecking” and is also called the prayer of a hypocrite. [صحیح مسلم ، المساجد ، حدیث : 622] Therefore, Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu declared this prayer invalid, and when the prayer itself is not established, then his death is not the death of Islam, because there is no religion without prayer. It is possible that he used such harsh words as a form of reprimand so that he would perform a complete prayer.
➋ By “light” prayer is meant a reduction in recitation. The bowing (ruku), standing after bowing (qawmah), prostration (sujud), and sitting between prostrations (jalsah) must be completed, meaning tranquility and calmness should be maintained in all the pillars.
➌ To diminish or perform the prayer incompletely is forbidden (haram).
➍ Whoever does not complete the pillars and obligations of the prayer will be counted as one who does not pray at all.
➎ When a Companion says “the Sunnah of Muhammad” or “the way of Muhammad,” it is considered as having the status of a marfu‘ hadith (attributed directly to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).
