بَابُ مَا جَاءَ فِي قِيَامِ رَمَضَانَChapter on what is reported regarding standing in Ramadan
Hadith 251
وَحَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ مَالِك ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الْأَعْرَجَ يَقُولُ : " مَا أَدْرَكْتُ النَّاسَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ يَلْعَنُونَ الْكَفَرَةَ فِي رَمَضَانَ " قَالَ : " وَكَانَ الْقَارِئُ يَقْرَأُ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي ثَمَانِ رَكَعَاتٍ فَإِذَا قَامَ بِهَا فِي اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، رَأَى النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ خَفَّفَ "
Dawud bin Husayn heard from Abdur Rahman bin Harmuz A'raj, who said: I found people cursing the disbelievers in Ramadan, and the Imam would recite Surah Al-Baqarah in eight rak'ahs. When he recited it in twelve rak'ahs, the people felt that it was a relief.
