It is narrated from Yahya bin Saeed that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, saw Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah Ansari, may Allah be pleased with him, carrying a load of meat with him. Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, asked: What is this? He replied: O Commander of the Faithful! We desired to eat meat, so we bought meat for one dirham. Sayyiduna Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, said: Does none of you wish to restrain his own appetite and feed his neighbor, or feed his cousin? Have you forgotten this verse: «﴿أَذْهَبْتُمْ طَيِّبَاتِكُمْ فِي حَيَاتِكُمُ الدُّنْيَا وَاسْتَمْتَعْتُمْ بِهَا﴾» meaning: "You have exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be punished with a humiliating punishment." Until the end of the verse.
