Mustadrak al-Hakim — Hadith 5964M

Abd al-Malik bin Zayd narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Sa'id bin Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away at al-Aqiq; then he was carried on (men's) shoulders to Madinah and buried there. Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas and Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) went down into his grave. This was in the year 50 or 51 AH, and at the time of his death he was a little over seventy years old. Muhammad bin Umar (al-Waqidi) states that his mother was Fatimah bint Ba'jah bin Umayyah (from Khuza'ah).

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Adil Murshid et al.
Reference / Source: It is in "al-Tabaqat al-Kubra" of Ibn Sa'd (3/ 385), from Muhammad bin 'Umar al-Waqidi, with it.

Note / Clarification: This name came thus in manuscript (Z), while in the rest of our manuscripts it came as "al-'Awd", without the mim. This is a man whose name is disputed, as appears from the words of al-Mizzi in "Tahdhib al-Kamal" (10/ 447).

Note / Clarification: In our manuscripts this is distorted into "Ghunaym", in the diminutive form; the correction is from the biographical sources. See "Tabaqat Ibn Sa'd" (3/ 352) and "Tarikh Dimashq" (21/ 66 and 68).
