Hadith 179
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنَ أَبِي سُلَيْمَانَ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ: " أَوْصَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلَا أَقُولُ خَلِيلِي وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: لَوْ كُنْتُ مُتَّخِذًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ خَلِيلَا، أَوْصَانِي بِصِيَامِ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ مِنْ كُلِّ شَهْرٍ، وَرَكْعَتَيِ الضُّحَى، وَأَنْ أُوتِرَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَنَامَ ".
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me—I will not say that my close friend (intimate companion) advised me—the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has already said: "If I were to take a close friend from among the people of the earth..." He (peace and blessings be upon him) advised me to fast three days every month, to pray two rak'ahs of Duha (forenoon prayer), and to sleep after offering Witr.
